Essaouira is een havenstad en resort aan de Atlantische kust van Marokko. De medina (oude stad) wordt beschermd door 18e-eeuwse stadswallen, de Skala de la Kasbah genaamd, die zijn ontworpen door Europese ingenieurs. Bezoek de vrouwencoöperatie op weg naar Essaouira die de populaire arganolie produceert en verkoopt, een industrie die hoopt vrouwen en lokale producenten in het land te machtigen. Geniet van het kustlandschap en de verse vismarkten of ga de oude stad binnen voor een kijkje in fascinerende en bruisende soeks die een breed scala aan goederen verkopen. Verken de medina en vissershaven, de oude stadsmuren en wallen en de Mellah - de Joodse wijk.

Vergeet niet om een handdoek, bescherming tegen de zon en zwemkleding mee te nemen als je later op de dag wilt gaan zwemmen. Zorg dat je om 8:00 uur in de lobby bent. De chauffeur zou daar voor u klaar moeten staan. U wordt via een rit van 3 uur naar de kustplaats Essaouira gebracht. Onderweg moet u echter twee stops maken. De eerste stop is bij een café. Daar kunt u verfrissingen kopen en gebruikmaken van de badkamer. De tweede stop is bij een kleine fabriek waar je de productie van een lokale plantaardige olie, argan genaamd, kunt zien. Het is geweldig voor de huid en het haar. Als je van het café naar de kleine fabriek gaat, zie je hopelijk op een gegeven moment geiten op de top van bomen staan. Ze zijn er vaak, maar niet altijd.
Bij aankomst krijg je de oude medina vol met ambachtslieden op je gemak te zien, wandel je langs het strand en elke verse vis in de haven. Hieronder staan de namen van de attracties die we je aanraden om te verkennen: 1. Porte de la Marine (ook bekend als Marine Docks) 2. Sqala de la Ville Bastion (ook bekend als Sqala de la Kasbah) 3. Rue Dar Laalouj: een weg vol winkels 4. Souk Jdid-markt 5. Rue Mohammed Zerktouni: de hoofdstraat met een levendige markt 6. De stadswallen 7. Essaouira-strand: kijk aan de andere kant van het strand uit naar de ruïnes van verdedigingsmuren. 8. Sqala du Port Bastion
We raden je aan om rond 13.00 uur een lunch te kopen in een restaurant naar keuze. (houd er rekening mee dat de lunch niet is inbegrepen bij de tour van vandaag). Als u wilt gaan zwemmen, raden wij u aan dit om 14.30 uur te doen. Daarna moet je om 15.30 uur terug zijn op de hoofdparkeerplaats. Je minibus die teruggaat naar Marrakesh vertrekt om 16.00 uur. Je moet rond 19:00 uur worden afgezet op het centrale plein in Marrakesh of bij je hotel.

This was an incredible day trip! We'd definitely recommend spending the day in Essaouira - it was beautiful and walkable city. Also, we appreciated that the company was flexible to work with us when we had to reschedule the day we booked because of changes in our travel.
The day in Essaouira was really impressive. It’s a lively little town full of cats and seagulls, I think they eat well as there is a seafood market and I love oysters. There is also the beach for sunbathing and swimming. The old city walls give you the impression of being in the past. The city deserves discovery. Thanks to Hossin who organized this trip well for me. The minibus came to my house to pick me up at the beginning and drop me off at the end of the day.
