Drive to The House of Virgin Mary ligt in het Aladag-gebergte, op 8 km afstand van Efeze. Op het derde oecumenische concilie op 431 na Christus in Efeze werd beweerd dat Maria in 37 na Christus met Johannes naar Efeze kwam en daar tot haar dood in 48 na Christus woonde. Na de ontdekking van het huis verklaarde de aartsbisschop van Izmir daar een bedevaartsoord in 1892. Op 26 juli 1967 bezocht paus Paulus VI deze plaats en bad daar
We gaan een bezoek brengen aan een van de hoogtepunten in Turkije, Ephesus, een van de 12 steden van Ionian League (een oud Grieks district aan de westkust van Klein-Azië) ligt in de buurt van Izmir. Als havenstad was het een belangrijk vertrekpunt voor handelsroutes naar Klein-Azië. Loop door de geschiedenis langs marmeren straatjes met prachtige openbare gebouwen, waaronder de Thermen van Scholastica, de Bibliotheek van Celsus; het werd in het begin van de 2e eeuw na Christus door Gaius Julius Aquila gebouwd als een gedenkteken voor zijn vader Gaius Julius Celsus Polemanus, de proconsul van de provincie Azië. , de Tempel van Hadrianus en The Grand Theatre zijn twee van de meest indrukwekkende gebouwen in Ephesus. Groot theater werd gebouwd in de 3e eeuw voor Christus en het werd later uitgebreid tot 24.000 toeschouwers door de Romeinen in de 1e eeuw na Christus.
De lunch wordt geserveerd in de tuin van het plaatselijke handwerkcentrum. Na de lunch is onze laatste stop de Artemis-tempel, waar vroeger een van de zeven wonderen van de antieke wereld was als onze laatste stop voordat we terugrijden naar Izmir

Our visit to Turkey from the cruise ship was great, very interesting and informative. We got a lot of different experiences with ancient and modern Turkey. We visited local farms, old ruins, interesting shops. Tansu was very helpful, knowledgeable and super friendly. The driver helped us with water bottles for the trip. Thank you guys very much! We definitely enjoyed our Turkish part of the cruise.

Enjoyed the trip to Ephesus on our recent cruise with Inan Akpinar as our tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the area and made the trip so much more meaningful than if we had just attempted to have done this on our own. Would highly recommend.

Turkey is a breathtaking country with a rich culture and history that was only made so much better by Yavuz and Serjan. We loved every day we were here. The foods, the sights, the ruins and the history were explained and enhanced with expert guidance and professionalism and could not have had a better time.

We had a wonderful tour with Mr. Tan as our tour guide. Not only was he very knowledgable he also had a great sense of humour and it was easy to build a rapport with him. Luckily we were only 3 of us and we had a memorable trip to Ephesus which we will cherish!

Been five days in Turkey and so far I can only be impressed by the hospitality of the people in the country. Iskendar (Alex), the gentleman who guided us on this tour is no exception. He speaks English so fluently, that we can talk so much about the sites we visited. I did the tour with my 61-year mom and 79-year grandma, who walked so slowly and easily got tired after a few steps. And, Iskendar was so patient with them. Maybe it sounds too much but when I apologised for my grandma, he said, "We all have grandma. Don't ever apologise for that." That is the ultimate level of attitude that I have no words to express. The visit to the Virgin Mary’s house was powerful. The visit to Ephesus was a very good overview with a very knowledgeable guide. It’s encouraged me to visit again and dig deeper. The visit to the Artemis Temple and St. John’s Basilica was good but I’d have liked to have seen them closer. Altogether a very good trip.

Nafia is the best tourguide ever, very thorough with the history andculture. She is also kind,friendly and funny. Anyone who goes to Izmir should ask for her. The driver is also very nice and we were very happy with the experience. Worth the money. Not to forget the lunch was homely.
