Uit Cusco: Halve dag zoutmijnen & Chincherowevers van Moray, Maras
Beschrijving
Deze excursie van een halve dag naar Moray en Minas de Sal laat je een deel van de Heilige Vallei verkennen, op prachtig boerenland buiten Cusco en in de buurt van de oude Andesstad Chinchero. Je bezoekt de volgende locaties: Andean Textile Center in Chinchero, Moray, het dorp Maras en zoutmijnen.

Wij halen u tussen 08:20 en 08:40 uur op bij uw hotel en vertrekken naar Chinchero, op 3.762 meter hoogte.
We zullen de traditionele markt waarderen, waar ze ruilhandel beoefenen, we zullen de weefworkshop daar bezoeken, de lokale bevolking die nog steeds de QUECHUA-traditie beoefent, ze zullen ons laten zien hoe ze de kleuren van natuurlijke planten krijgen en je kunt mooie foto's maken gekleed in Andes kleding (Op dit punt bezoekt u slechts een deel van de stad Chinchero en een textielcentrum in de Andes.)
We gaan verder naar MORAY, gelegen op (3.450 m/11.318 ft) waar we de landbouwterrassen vinden met hun complexe irrigatiesysteem en terrassen. Verschillende niveaus van terrassen zijn uitgehouwen in een enorme kom, waarvan een deel verder werd uitgegraven door de Inca's. Er wordt gedacht dat ze door de Inca's werden gebruikt om de optimale groeiomstandigheden voor hun gewassen te ontdekken. Deze terrassen dienden als een natuurlijke kas om een buitengewone verscheidenheid aan gewassen te verbouwen op een hoogte die normaal niet bevorderlijk was voor de gewassen. De Inca's waren zeer geavanceerd in de kennis van het creëren van specifieke subklimaten.
Dan zijn we op weg naar de zoutmijnen, onderweg zullen we Maras Village zien waar de koloniale architectonische schoonheid nog steeds bewaard is gebleven, je zult zien dat de gebouwen van dunne steen zijn, dan verhuizen we naar Salineras, de zoutmijn bestaat uit 3000 kleine zwembaden, tijdens het droge seizoen vullen arbeiders elke drie dagen de zwembaden met zout water dat afkomstig is van een natuurlijke warmwaterbron. Deze plaats werd sinds de pre-Inca-tijd tot op de dag van vandaag gebruikt. Het zout wordt vermalen, behandeld met jodium, verpakt en verzonden naar diverse markten in de regio.
Tot slot keert u terug naar Cusco (rond 15:15 uur, vlak bij de Plaza de Armas), waar u op eigen gelegenheid kunt lunchen.

Ophaallocaties en -tijden
We halen u op tussen 8:20 en 8:50 uur, het hangt af van de locatie van uw accommodatie. Een dag van tevoren stemmen we de exacte ophaaltijd af, als u buiten de ophaallocatie bent, kunnen we u ophalen bij Plaza de Armas (het belangrijkste plein van Cusco). Onze medewerkers zullen naar u vragen bij de receptie.

The view with Ruben and Jaime was wonderful! Ruben is very passionate about explaining everything that surrounds us, not just the places visited, but also the culture that surrounds us in these places, you can see that he really likes what he does! The bus trip was calm, Jaime is an excellent driver! Two people during the trip were not feeling well due to altitude sickness and Ruben and Jaime helped them a lot, with agua florida, blankets. The proposed activities are very interesting and the local inhabitants and the businesses are very kind and helpful! Highly recommended
An excellent tour that looks at three interesting areas. The textiles demonstration in Chichero was brilliant and a real surprise - the family working there were wonderful hosts and it was really interesting to see the traditional techniques used to spin, dye and weave. The visit to the salt mine was also really interesting. Only suggestion would be to include a lunch stop as it’s definitely more of a whole day rather than a half day trip, leaving at 8.30 and returning at 3.30

The tour was spectacular, the guide Hipólito was very charismatic and kind, he was always attentive to whatever you needed and was very interested in making sure you learned about the history. Very organized and everything on time, I would definitely recommend this tour.

Hipo did a fantastic job leading the tour. I loved the salt mines, agricultural site, and the weavers. If you’re interested in purchasing authentic Peruvian textiles keep in mind they accept credit card as well. Never felt rushed at all. Highly recommend this service to anyone as a day trip from Cusco (it says half day but it’s pretty much a full day).
