Locatie: Ongeveer 90 kilometer (ongeveer 2 uur) ten zuidwesten van Caïro. Het is geen woestijnoase die gevoed wordt door ondergronds water zoals Siwa. Fayoum is verbonden met de Nijl via het Bahr Yussef kanaal, waardoor het de grootste gecultiveerde oase van Egypte is.
Wadi El-Hitan (Vallei van de Walvissen) staat op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO in de Westelijke Woestijn van Egypte. Het is beroemd om de 40 miljoen jaar oude walvisfossielen die laten zien hoe walvissen zich ontwikkelden van landdieren tot zeedieren. Bezoekers kunnen complete skeletten en het oude zeeleven zien en genieten van het unieke woestijnlandschap.
Magic Lake is een schilderachtig meer in Wadi El-Rayan, Fayoum. Het is beroemd om het veranderen van kleuren met zonlicht en is een populaire plek om te zwemmen, sandboarden en genieten van uitzicht op de woestijn.
Wadi El-Rayan is een prachtig natuurreservaat in de Fayoumwoestijn, ten zuidwesten van Caïro. Het staat bekend om zijn twee kunstmatige meren die verbonden zijn door de enige watervallen van Egypte, uitgestrekte zandduinen en Magic Lake, dat van kleur verandert met het zonlicht. Het gebied heeft ook natuurlijke zwavelbronnen en is de thuisbasis van zeldzame wilde dieren zoals de slankhoornige gazelle. Het is een favoriete plek voor sandboarden, zwemmen, kamperen en eco-toerisme.

We had a wonderful day visiting Valley of the Whales with Ibrahim. He was friendly and knowledgeable and helped us try sandboarding which was a lot of fun. Beautiful scenery and took some great photos.. Definitely recommend.

What an outstanding experience, I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. The guide was very knowledgeable, friendly & easy to get along with. The driver was also friendly & drove well. The sites visited are stunning & the history fascinating. The 4x4 ride is a rush & the driver very skilled. One of us flopped massively at sandboarding (cough, me), but it was a fun addition to an amazing day. Lunch was at a local restaurant with the food presented to us on arrival, so there is no choice of what to have but it filled our stomachs. The restaurant had a lovely vibe & I recommend sitting inside. Water & snacks were provided for the journey as advertised We loved every second of the day & if you book to go I hope you will love it as much as we did

Our guide Abdul was fantastic, very knowledgeable and helpful. Abdul went above and beyond for us, detoured so we could get coffee, helped us find and tie head scarves and took some great photos and reels. Our desert driver was also great and the lunch meal was huge and delicious. Book with Abdul for an English speaking tour!

It was a great day with a bit of everything - scenic drive through the Western Desert and Fayoum "Oasis", sandboarding on the dunes, super interesting visit to the Valley of the Whales, 4x4 drive up the dunes to a scenic viewpoint over Wadi El Rayan, tasty lunch and good coffee with excellent company from our guide and driver - the two Ibrahims, and 4x4 driver Peter.

This trip was absolutely amazing! Sahar is an outstanding guide—professional, attentive, and genuinely client-oriented throughout the entire journey. She was incredibly helpful, always supportive of our needs, and guided us smoothly from start to finish. She also took us to excellent souvenir shops where we bought beautiful jewelry and papyrus paintings. We truly loved the experience. The oasis and sandboarding were the highlights of the trip, and crossing the sand dunes in a 4WD jeep was a once-in-a-lifetime experience! A must-do trip if you are in Cairo!
