De gids haalt je op bij je hotel in Caïro om te genieten van de beroemde bezienswaardigheden van El Fayoum. Van Caïro naar Fayoum is het ongeveer 95 km, we passeren het Qarun-meer en we zullen de geschiedenis van dit meer kennen, waarna we aankomen in Wadi El Ryan, aangewezen als beschermd gebied in 1989. Zodra we bij het kamp aankomen, zullen we wat rusten, daarna nemen we de 4 x 4-auto om naar het beschermde gebied Wadi Hitan (vallei van de walvissen) te gaan. Nadat we van deze interessante plek hebben genoten, bezoeken we het magische meer (waar je kunt zwemmen daar!) Daarna bezoeken we de watervallen (de enige watervallen in Egypte) Op de terugweg naar het kamp passeren we de Mudawara-berg. Aan het einde gaan we terug naar ons bedoeïenenkamp in de woestijn om te genieten van onze BBQ-lunch en het drinken van bedoeïenenthee met kardemom. Rond ons bedoeïenenkamp kunnen we sandboarden en de gids zal je de nodige instructies geven om van deze spannende ervaring te genieten! Nadat we alles hebben afgerond, gaan we terug naar Caïro om je af te zetten bij je hotel.

Wadi El-Rayan is een beschermd gebied in het Fayoum-gouvernement van Egypte. Het staat bekend om zijn adembenemende natuurlijke schoonheid, met twee kunstmatige meren die zijn aangelegd als onderdeel van een waterbeheerproject. Het gebied herbergt ook diverse wilde dieren, waaronder trekvogels, en is een populaire bestemming voor ecotoerisme en vogelspotten.
Wadi Al-Hitan, ook wel bekend als de Vallei van de Walvissen, staat op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO en bevindt zich in het Fayoum-gouvernement van Egypte. Het staat bekend om zijn uitzonderlijke concentratie aan gefossiliseerde walvisskeletten, die belangrijke inzichten verschaffen in de evolutie van walvissen. De site bevat goed bewaarde fossielen van oude walvissoorten, waarvan sommige hun skeletstructuur hebben behouden, wat de overgang van op het land levende zoogdieren naar zeedieren laat zien. Wadi Al-Hitan biedt bezoekers een unieke kans om getuige te zijn van deze evolutionaire reis en meer te leren over de geologische geschiedenis van de regio.
Het Magische Meer in Fayoum is een fascinerend zoutwatermeer gelegen in de Fayoum-oase van Egypte. De aantrekkingskracht ligt in het betoverende turquoise water, tegen de achtergrond van gouden zandduinen en groen groen. Deze serene oase trekt een groot aantal trekvogels aan, waardoor het een gewilde bestemming is voor vogelaars. Bezoekers kunnen deelnemen aan activiteiten zoals varen, vissen en genieten van een picknick langs de rustige oevers, terwijl ze omringd worden door het adembenemende woestijnlandschap. Bovendien heeft het meer een historische betekenis als vitale waterbron voor oude beschavingen in de regio.
De watervallen in Wadi el-Rayan zijn een natuurlijk fenomeen en worden beschouwd als de grootste watervallen van Egypte.
Aan het einde van de tour nemen we de 4x4-auto en gaan we terug naar het kamp om te lunchen en ook om te sandboarden

Abdallah was an incredible guide with great knowledge. He was so accommodating and we felt at ease immediately. The trip was a great length and we never felt rushed or like anything was cut short. Being a private tour, it made it even more relaxed. Best for people who want a full desert experience with a relaxed atmosphere.

We had a simply unforgettable experience in the heart of the El Fayoum desert. Since our arrival we were greeted with a delicious Bedouin tea, which immediately immersed us in the authentic atmosphere of the place. The adventure continued with an exciting 4x4 jeep safari through the dunes, a truly fun and adrenaline-pumping experience. One of the most fascinating moments was the visit to the Whale Cemetery: a unique place in the world for its history. We then admired spectacular waterfalls in the middle of the desert, something really rare and surprising. Back at glamping, we had a delicious lunch ahead of us. The day ended with sandboarding activities, the children had a great time, making the experience perfect for families. Special thanks to our guide Yemani, always attentive, professional and able to make us feel comfortable at all times. We highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to experience something authentic, exciting and out of the ordinary!
A simply unforgettable experience! This trip to the heart of the Egyptian desert was something magical, almost surreal. The endless golden dunes create breathtaking landscapes, so spectacular that they seem to belong to another planet. Our guide Yemani was exceptional: prepared, helpful and able to convey all the beauty and charm of the desert. Crossing the dunes with him was exciting and at the same time adrenaline-pumping. The comfort of the trip exceeded all expectations: impeccable organization, comfortable vehicles and every detail taken care of to perfection. And then the food... just delicious! Bedouin cuisine, authentic and rich in flavors, was a real discovery and made the experience even more special.
We had a great time. Starting with the pick up at our hotel by our driver Omar. The communication was easy and uncomplicated. Our guide Yemani was amazing. We took the time to explain about the history of the land and the different stations, gave us the possibilities to explore on our own and also he is a great photographer, if you need someone to take your picture. Wadi al Hatin is an absolute highlight for everyone interested in environmental and prehistoric history. The camp is beautiful and the food was simple but very tasty. All stops were great, 10/10, would reccomend. Is a must do!
The desert drive felt like an exciting adventure and was so much fun! I was also taken to a place where many shark fossils are scattered around. Then, we visited The Valley of the Whales. First, we went to the museum, where I learned that this area was once underwater, and we watched videos showing fossil excavations. I also saw many types of fossils that were discovered here. After that, I explored the actual whale fossils scattered in the desert. Some of them were enormous, and it was hard to imagine that this landscape was once a sea. I also enjoyed views of the Magic Lake, whose colors change depending on the sunlight, and visited Egypt’s only waterfall. The tour included a delicious meal as well. Later, I tried sandboarding, which was really fun. It was truly a full and exciting day. This incredible experience was made possible thanks to our guide, Yemani, and our driver, Amr. The tour in Fayoum gave me the best memories for our last day in Egypt.
We had the best time with our tour guide Eino! As tourists who don’t speak Arabic, it can be tricky to get around, but he made everything feel safe and easy. He took us to try local coffee, fresh cane juice, and then straight into the desert adventure — sand trucks, amazing cliff views with tea, a tasty lunch, and ending the day sandboarding. Such an unforgettable experience, highly recommend him!

Our trip to the Fayoum Oasis was an absolute highlight of our time in Egypt! Driving over the sand dunes was exhilarating — like a desert rollercoaster! Our guide Abdallah and the drivers made sure we were safe while still having a blast. The views from the top of the dunes were unreal.
