Ervaar de authentieke Costa Ricaanse keuken in La Fortuna

This was a very positive experience for me and my family, and definitely one of the main things we will remember from this vacation. From the moment we arrived our host, Ivannia, welcomed us with open arms; she was warm and hospitable throughout the whole workshop. We were firstly welcomed with a very good drink while she showed us around the property. Aside from the actual activity in fact, the experience was taken to the next level by the beautiful location, full of wildlife; we saw frogs, birds, caterpillars, and she also had three very cute dogs that my two daughters loved playing with. We started off with a tour of her garden where we sampled 8 different types of honey that she harvests herself from stingless bees, this was very interesting as the honeys had unique flavor profiles that aren’t commonly found. We also juiced fresh sugarcane that we then tasted. Next we moved to the orchard where we smelled and tried different herbs and vegetables, some of which we used afterwards when cooking our meal. The cooking part started off with chopping all the necessary ingredients. We mixed some of them to make a pineapple ceviche and the rest for vegetables we sautéed. We also seared chicken Ivannia had marinated previously as well as got to make our own corn tortillas. The whole process was very interactive and beginner friendly. Once our food was ready they brought out excellent homemade drinks to accompany the meal. Once we were done she also brought out dessert which was exceptional as well. Everything was homemade with fresh ingredients and the taste reflected this. This was one of the best meals we had throughout our trip, which allowed us to be immersed in a part of Costa Rican culture that is often left behind the scenes.

This was the best experience we’ve had this whole trip. She was very welcoming, amazing, and knowledgeable about plants, cooking, and animals. Has a garden and gives you samples from it and her own honey. Gives 3 different home made drinks that are very delicious as well. Overall a perfect experience, would recommend and go again when in Costa Rica!

This was one of the highlights of our trip! We started in the garden learning about bees and sampling honey, then moved on to herbs and vegetables. Then we helped chop and cook a delicious meal where we all had more food than we could eat. Beautiful set up, wonderful people, and delicious food! I would highly recommend this class!

This was so much more than a cooking class and one of the highlights on our trip to Costa Rica. Ivannia was a delight and clearly passionate about food and hospitality. Loved leaning all about CR’s bees, sampling the honey and grinding the sugar cane for juice too.

Greivin and Ivannia were amazing hosts! The property and gardens were gorgeous. The natural juices they made us were absolutely delicious. My teenagers and I feel it was an incredible, authentic experience. We tasted honey, prepped and cooked a great Costa Rican meal, and learned so much. The hosts made us feel so welcome and we enjoyed every minute. A must do in La Fortuna area!

This was a wonderful experience that exceeded our expectations. The hosts were delightful and we learned so much about their native plants, bees, and how to cook a native dish. We truly enjoyed the hands on experience of cooking the meal and the friendly conversation with the hosts. The property and the restaurant are like an oasis in the middle of the rainforest, so relaxing.

Thhis was an AMAZING experience! The owners are fabulous and they provided so much incredible education about the bees they keep on the property and their incredible garden. The tour of that honey they harvest and garden was unexpected and phenomenal!!!! The dinner was absolutely DELICIOUS! Please come hungry because the meal is huge!!! We cannot say enough good things! 10/10 recommend!

Ivannia and Greivin are such warm hosts that welcomed us with gorgeous and delicious drinks. You'll first tour their stingless beehives and sample different honeys, make cane sugar juice, and wander through their dreamy organic garden where they pick different things for you to sample. Next we cut and prepped our ingredients and cooked outside on a fire stove. We made a traditional costa rican casada with chicken, pico de gallo, vegetable medley, and plantains. Ivannia accommodated my son's sweet tooth with a honey plantain receipe that he loved. We enjoyed our delicious and very filling meal in their beautiful outdoor restaurant. My kids and I loved the experience, food, and warm company which included 2 of the sweetest dogs. The recipes are so easy to follow that I plan on replicating them when we get back home. Thank you for letting us bring some of Costa Rica back with us!

Absolutely amazing! We learned about the different bees and honey they produce on their farm. We picked the herbs from their garden. And made an amazing dinner.

Food was amazing and guided were the best. They aided us in cooking along with showing us their garden and local animals. As well as providing many great beverages. I had a great time.
