Wat te zien in Meknes: Enkele van de plaatsen die je niet mag missen zijn: Souks: een eenvoudige wandeling door de soeks laat je zien dat we in een modernere stad zijn dan Fez. El-Hedim-plein: el-Hedim-plein is voor Meknes wat het Jamaa el Fna-plein is voor Marrakech, het centrum van het openbare en culturele leven in de stad. Op plaatsen waar ooit openbare executies en koninklijke aankondigingen plaatsvonden, zijn restaurants en terrassen ingericht. Poort van Bab el-Mansour: verbindt de oude plaats El Hedim met de oude keizerlijke stad Moulay Ismaïl. Dar Jamaï Museum: dit is een van de interessantste musea van Marokko. Mausoleum van Moulay Ismaïl: een van de belangrijkste bezoeken aan Meknes. Dit is het graf van de sultan die de oorsprong van het huidige Marokko markeerde. Volubilis is een oude Romeinse stad waar de best bewaarde en meest bezochte archeologische overblijfselen van Marokko zijn gevonden. Het gebied werd in 1997 door UNESCO uitgeroepen tot werelderfgoed. Wat te zien in Volubilis Hoewel je het beste tussen de ruïnes kunt wandelen, zijn er enkele punten die je niet mag missen: Forum, basiliek en tempel van Jupiter: gelegen op het bovenste deel van Volubilis, waren deze drie plaatsen het centrum van het openbare leven van de stad. Baden: Hoewel de staat ervan behoorlijk verwaarloosd is, zult u het verwarmingssysteem van de Romeinse baden nog steeds kunnen waarderen. Boog van Caracalla: gebouwd in marmer in het jaar 217 ter ere van de keizer en zijn moeder. Toen het werd gebouwd, werd het bekroond door een bronzen strijdwagen. Mozaïeken: het hoogtepunt van uw bezoek! De werken van Hercules, het bad van de nimfen, de acrobaat... Het vinden van al deze mozaïeken is een moeilijke taak zonder gids!
Moulay Idriss is een van de bekendste bedevaartsoorden van Marokko. De naam eert Idriss I, achterkleinzoon van Mohammed en stichter van de Idrisside-dynastie. Vanwege zijn religieuze status was de stad tot het midden van de 20e eeuw gesloten voor niet-moslims. Tegenwoordig is de enige verboden plaats het mausoleum van Moulay Idriss. Wat te zien in Moulay Idriss? Mausoleum van Moulay Idriss: Het Mausoleum van Idriss is het belangrijkste bezienswaardigheid in de stad. U zult er echter genoegen mee moeten nemen om het van buitenaf te zien.Place de Moulay Idriss I: dit is het meest interessante plein van de stad, een ideale plek om te ontspannen in een van de cafés en te genieten van de straatsfeer. Het is een verplichte doorgang om bij het mausoleum te komen. Panoramische terrassen: Het grote terras en het kleine terras zijn de beste observatiepunten in de stad om Moulay Idriss te bewonderen. Kalmer en kleiner dan zijn grote buur Fez, voelt Meknès nogal overschaduwd en ontvangt minder bezoekers dan zou moeten. Het is meer relaxed met minder gedoe, maar heeft nog steeds alle smalle, kronkelende straatjes van de medina en het verdient een keizerlijke stad en een uniek huis van het Marokkaanse sultanaat.

Najim was an amazing driver. He was generous with his time and let us really enjoy all the sites. He even drove us to a Chateau nearby, with wines and a private tour. We could not have asked for a better driver. He was flexible and let us play music. The day flew by because we were having so much fun. If you choose this tour, see if he is available. This excursion was simply amazing! Najim was an excellent driver and was very accommodating. He was extremely patient and never made us feel rushed as we explored. We spent the day visiting three beautiful locations and even added on an excursion to Chateau Roselan for some wine tasting. It was just the right amount of guidance and freedom to explore on our own. Would definitely book again!

My wife and I booked the trip through our hotel. Our driver Najim was the main reason why our trip was great. He took us first to Volubilis and on route stopped at some amazing places for us to enjoy the views and take some stunning photographs. Post visiting Volubilis, we went to Mekenes where we had lunch and Toured the old city by foot. Najim was extremely gracious during the entire trip and made us feel very comfortable. I highly recommend him if you are travelling as a couple or with family.

We took a day trip from Fes with Icham as our chauffeur. He is a safe driver and a very good tour guide. We laughed a lot together. The tour was very interesting and entertaining.
