Maak je klaar voor een onvergetelijke elektrische fietstocht door het platteland van Bordeaux, van Bordeaux naar Saint-Émilion, twee plaatsen die op de UNESCO-werelderfgoedlijst staan. Ontdek iconische bezienswaardigheden zoals het Palais Gallien, de kathedraal van Saint-André, de Grosse Cloche en de Pont de Pierre. Fiets door de natuurgebieden van Entre-Deux-Mers en ontdek het platteland van Bordeaux zoals maar weinigen de kans krijgen: langs pittoreske dorpjes, stenen boerderijen en wijngaarden zover het oog reikt. Halverwege kunt u genieten van een Franse picknicklunch met wijn. Je reis bereikt zijn hoogtepunt wanneer je het UNESCO-dorp Saint-Emilion nadert, waar je per elektrische fiets tussen de wijngaarden en de meest prestigieuze kastelen van Saint-Emilion door fietst. Als alternatief kunt u een familiedomein in de appellatie Saint-Emilion bezoeken en de heerlijke wijnen proeven. De kathedraal Saint-André is een van de meest emblematische monumenten van de stad en vertelt de geschiedenis van de stad vanaf de middeleeuwen tot nu.
Fiets door een van de mooiste straten van de stad. De Grosse Cloche was in de middeleeuwen de belangrijkste toegangspoort van de stad.
De Pont de Pierre was de eerste stenen brug die in Bordeaux werd gebouwd. Het vertegenwoordigt de 19e eeuw.
Een rustig pad langs de oevers van de Garonne, op de rechteroever. Dit gedeelte biedt ononderbroken uitzicht op het historische landschap van Bordeaux, met de Place de la Bourse en de Grosse Cloche in de verte. Het is een rustig, bosrijk gebied, ideaal om te genieten van het contrast tussen de drukte van de stad en de zachtheid van de rivieroevers, voordat je het platteland en de wijngaarden intrekt.
Een mix van stedelijkheid en moderniteit voordat je de natuur induikt. Dit eigentijdse vaartuig markeert de grens tussen de stad en ontsnappen op de fiets.
Bouillac, een klein, discreet dorp aan de poort van de Entre-deux-Mers regio, dompelt je onder in de rust van het platteland van de Gironde. Hier beginnen de wijngaarden het landschap vorm te geven, tussen hagen en blonde stenen huizen.
Dit charmante dorp ligt aan de poort van de Entre-Deux-Mers regio en markeert de overgang tussen stad en platteland. Je volgt rustige paden en oude spoorlijnen, omringd door natuur en wijngaarden. Je fietst over het legendarische Roger Lapébie-fietspad, dat door bossen en dorpjes slingert en een rustige, veilige omgeving midden in de natuur biedt. Je kunt vrij trappen, gewiegd door vogelgezang en het ruisen van de bladeren.
Sadirac staat bekend om zijn pottenbakkersverleden en is een dorp met traditionele wortels. Het landelijke erfgoed en het glooiende landschap geven je een voorproefje van het terroir dat je verderop te wachten staat. Hier genieten we van een gastronomisch moment met een picknick in Franse stijl, compleet met wijn en lokale producten.
Créon, een voormalig Engels vestingstadje, is nu een gezellige halte in het hart van de regio Entre-deux-Mers. Onder de arcades van het centrale plein kun je fietsers, lokale producenten en inwoners ontmoeten. Een warme, authentieke sfeer.
Dit vredige dorp is doordrenkt van duizenden jaren geschiedenis. Genesteld tussen wijngaarden en bossen, leidt het je zachtjes naar een verborgen schat van Gironde erfgoed. Vanaf hier kun je de majestueuze ruïnes van de abdij van La Sauve-Majeure zien, een benedictijnenabdij die het landschap domineert. Het werd gesticht in de 11e eeuw en roept de spirituele kracht van de Middeleeuwen op. Een plek vol stilte, geschiedenis en mystieke schoonheid. Een contemplatieve pauze onderweg.
De wijnstokken worden dichter, het reliëf geprononceerder: je betreedt de wereld van de wijn. Daignac biedt een prachtig uitzicht op de wijnheuvels en paden omzoomd met droge stenen muren.
In het hart van de wijngaarden nodigt Grézillac uit tot onthaasten. Tussen de door een familie gerunde wijndomeinen en het adembenemende uitzicht over de valleien is de omgeving ideaal voor een picknick in de schaduw van eikenbomen of op een open plek.
Je hebt de Dordogne bereikt! Branne is een levendig dorp aan de rivier. Je voelt hier de invloed van de wijnvallei, met zijn kleine winkeltjes, cafés en kleurrijke markten. Hier steek je de Pont de Branne over, een metalen brug die uitkijkt over de Dordogne en een adembenemend uitzicht biedt over beide oevers. Door deze over te steken, gaat u symbolisch van de Entre-deux-Mers regio naar de poorten van de prestigieuze Saint-Émilionnais regio.
Een emblematisch domein onder de Grands Crus Classés van Saint-Émilion. La Gaffelière, een mix van traditie en elegantie, belichaamt de uitmuntendheid van de Bordeaux-wijnbouw. Een geweldige introductie voor de uiteindelijke finish.
Saint-Émilion, een middeleeuws juweeltje dat op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat, verwelkomt je in zijn geplaveide straatjes, in de rotsen uitgehouwen monumenten en uitzonderlijke wijngaarden. We had the best day cycling with Edwin from Bordeaux to St Emillion. Edwin was so knowledgeable about the city, region and it's wine and food. He took us on an absolutely beautiful route and he made us a carefully considered, beautiful lunch en route. Edwin kindly took lots of photos and videos along the way so we didn't have to worry about missing a moment of the experience. When we arrived at the vineyard Edwin went above and beyond to translate the tour for us as unfortunately on the day we visited there was not an English speaking tour running. The train ride back to Bordeaux rounded off the perfect day. I can't recommend this trip highly enough. It absolutely made our holiday and we'll never forget it.

This was a great day. Picked the e-Bike up in Bordeaux and was surprised that it was heavier than I expected. But that made no difference, as when you're riding, it's so smooth and feels as light as a feather. We started out cycling around the streets of Bordeaux, with our fabulous guide Edwin showing us several iconic sites. Traffic, pedestrians, and other cyclists made for a busy first hour, but take it slow; motorists, other cyclists and pedestrians are very tolerant and polite, catering for any clumsiness you (well, me) may have initially. I hadn't ridden a bike in years, but all good...you'll be fine! We soon left the traffic and entered a wonderfully serene bikeway. Several kms along the way, a lunch stop, where Edwin magically produced a delicious, rustic picnic, with, of course, a fine bottle of wine (red and white). Continued on another serene bikeway and got to St Emilion, where we toured and tasted some beautiful wines. St Emilion is amazing - full of history, and of course, wine! You'll get the train back to Bordeaux, Edwin will show you where the station is; a short 10 minute walk. A great day with Edwin, who is so accommodating and friendly. I definitely recommend Edwin and Gravel Explore for this day tour.

Landscapes, conviviality, culture and terroir, everything was there. Edwin was able to share his passion for gravel with us, a good discovery of this activity, accessible to all. A very nice walk in the vineyards with tasting at the castle. The return by train from Saint Emilion was very convenient
