The horses are very poorly cared for, overworked and malnourished. The trip itself is anything but relaxed because there is such a fool behind you who constantly smacks the horses to keep up the pace and even though they claim the maximum weight is around 120 kilos I would advise no more than 60-70 in their best condition, but better just not ride, this is animal executioner, horses are too intelligent for this job. The waterfall is beautiful, but do this better but just walking.
Our tour guides were fantastic. The took some amazing photos of us and were very friendly. I had a great time, the waterfall was stunning. The hike is very steep but was worth it!
Everything is natural and beautiful in Samaná to visit the galleys the earthy waterfall of the lemon beach valley corner beach and of course the whales of Samaná
We were shocked at the mistreatment of the horses. The steep path is full of stones, very dangerous for them, many are afraid, are trembling when approached, some have infected eyes, many have broken ears, the corners of their mouths injured because of the overly tight bits. unbearable to see so many tourists being complicit in this mistreatment!! This has to stop!! The waterfalls are accessible on foot, not very difficult.
Terrible road with the horses. Very steep and rocky up and down, it's terrible to see those horses doing this. Without water and as everyone experiences, it is very hot, especially during such exertion. And that's just to see that waterfall. Don't do it...stop this ride
Impressive climb to the waterfall on horseback, without difficulty. Refreshment bar on arrival. The guides are knowledgeable and helpful.
This tour was not like other tours/excursions I’ve done. It was essentially a private tour with a local family of three guiding the horses for my family. I wish I had known that because usually we end up being part of a larger group. They work only for tips so I tipped 40% because this family literally walked the entire trek and was so patient with us despite the language barrier. Even then, I don’t feel like it’s enough. Local guides should be fairly compensated. The waterfall was beautiful and well worth the hike! And the local lunch that was provided was the best meal we had in the DR!
The trail by horse back was filled with rocks. One guy we paid, then the houses don’t tell you but they try to scam money at end of rides. The Limon falls were excellent, but the guides are horrible people.
DO NOT BOOK!! This excursion is 3-5 hour drive from most parts of DR and they do not inform you a head of time or provide adequate directions!
Wonderful horseback riding through the Caribbean forest. Horse guides are constantly watching the inexperienced riders (don’t forget to bring a good tip, which they earn a lot); thank you Marcos! The waterfalls are very beautiful. The best was the locals, lovely.
