Ontdek de nieuwe hoofdstad van Tadzjikistan Dushanbe en de oude stad Hissar. Vandaag ga je naar het fort van Hisar (VII-XVII eeuw), dat op 35 km afstand van de stad ligt. Er zijn versterkte gebieden en een citadel op deze historische plek. Het fort diende als residentie van de emir van Bukhara. De locatie lag op een hoge heuvel en de schietgaten beschermden een muur van 1 meter hoog. Binnen in het fort was een tuin en er tegenover was een levendige markt met een karavanserai en winkels. Nadat je de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden van Dushanbe hebt bezocht: Nationaal Museum, Moskee, Bazar, Onafhankelijkheidsplein.

Onze stadstour begint met een bezoek aan het Hissor-fort, een van de belangrijkste historische bezienswaardigheden van het land, op ongeveer een half uur rijden van de stad. Het fort werd ongeveer 3000 jaar geleden gebouwd, tijdens de hoogtijdagen, toen de routes van de Grote Zijderoute langs Hissar liepen. Het Hissar-fort is een van de oudste en grootste architectonische monumenten van Centraal-Azië. Nu is het een openluchtmuseum met een oppervlakte van 86 hectare, gelegen op de plek van een oude nederzetting. Het ligt op 30 km van de hoofdstad van Tadzjikistan. Het Hissar-fort diende lange tijd als residentie van de gouverneur van de emir van Bukhara. Tot op heden zijn er slechts twee cilindrische torens en constructies rond de hoofdpoort, die een spitsboog vormen, en gebouwd in opdracht van de emir van Buchara in de zestiende eeuw.
Het museum is er trots op artefacten uit het Eneolithicum en de Bronstijd te bezitten uit de agrarische nederzetting Sarazm, een site die op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat. De vondsten uit de Hellenistische periode afkomstig uit de Oxus-tempel, opgegraven op de plaats van Takht-i Sangin aan de oevers van de Amu Darya-rivier, zijn uniek. Het hoogtepunt van het museum is de "Boeddha in Nirvana", een bijna 13 meter hoog beeld gemaakt van klei, dat tegenwoordig een van de grootste oude monumenten van het boeddhisme ter wereld is.
Na een bezoek aan de Mehrgon Bazar. Mehrgon is een nieuwe en moderne voedselmarkt in Dushanbe, de hoofdstad van Tadzjikistan, die in september 2014 in gebruik werd genomen. De totale marktoppervlakte bedraagt ongeveer 30.000 vierkante meter.
Ga verder naar het Dusti-plein in het centrum van Dushanbe, het hart van de hoofdstad en heel Tadzjikistan. De naam wordt vertaald als "Vriendschapsplein". De lokale bevolking noemt deze plaats echter “Monument van Ismail Somoni” of “Park Somoni”, omdat er een monument staat voor de stichter van de Tadzjiekse staat Ismail Somoni. Het torenhoge 13 meter hoge Ismail Somoni-monument is de kenmerkende attractie van het Dusti-plein. Een prachtige boog (ruim 43 m) bevestigt het monument.

Very enjoyable day with Dilik. We had a terrific day engaging with the history, architecture, and culture of Tajikistan. It’s a super tour that allows travelers to see a cross-section of Dushanbe monuments and the Hisar (Hissar or Hisor) fortress and madrasa. We were also able to squeeze in the Imam Abu Hanifa Cathedral Mosque, which was exquisite. Dilik is a professional and took great care of us. We recommend this tour for anyone staying in Dushanbe and wants to see and learn more about regional history.
The Hisor Fortress is a site that must be visited if you go to Dushanbe. It is not far and you can go by taxi at a better price than what I paid for this excursion, which was a total disappointment. The fortress is small and then I visited some points in the city; in my case, I was traveling alone and the guide was hitting on me, which meant that I did not feel comfortable and I canceled the Iskanderkul excursion with this agency the next day. I find it very unprofessional for a guide to hit on a traveler; I would not recommend the excursion because it is cheaper by taxi and it is not difficult at all.
The city is clean and beautiful with lovely parks and flowers (late May) but who wants to see only old statues and memorials?? Many Cafes and restaurants but unfortunately it was Eid holiday that day and everything was closed , couldnt even exchange money as banks were closed. Restaurants dont accept cards or dollars, only local currency. we had to borrow from our kind guide. The museum visit was boring!! Most Tajik museums are not well presented although the content is pretty ok. Toilets are horrible although you pay to use- dirty and stinking!! Hissar fortress is a good place to visit ..but not in summer!! the best thing about Dushanbe are the friendly locals!

Dilik was my tour guide and gave me a very detailed overview of Dushanbe and Hisor, while showing me the main highlights of both. He was on time and drove safely. Overall a great intro to Dushanbe. The next day I also took a transfer to Samarkand with them which went smoothly. Recommended!

I really had a great day with Dilik who knew every details of every corner we’ve visited, I had to learn a lot about the country and its history. We started by visiting hissar fortress and then went around Dushanbe. He also took me to a nice local place for lunch where I have tried Kurutob. I really recommend this day trip !
