Onze Durango Jeep-tour reist door La Plata Canyon, een ruig ravijn genesteld in een bergparadijs. Hier in dit door gletsjers gevormde landschap vind je watervallen die in de kloof stromen, gangen met glimmende espen, talloze wilde bloemen, wilde dieren die tussen de weilanden rondscharrelen en panoramische uitzichten op de mooiste Rocky Mountains van Colorado. Zoals we al zeiden: het paradijs! Onze vrolijke en ervaren gidsen zijn inwoners van Durango, die de rijke geschiedenis en ecologie van deze kloof als geen ander kennen. Terwijl andere outfitters de neiging hebben om het landschap al het werk voor hen te laten doen, geven onze gidsen je een schat aan inzicht over wat dit gebied ongelooflijk speciaal maakt. Het zijn ook getalenteerde chauffeurs die je probleemloos over dit hobbelige pad loodsen. De meeste mensen willen niet met hun eigen auto deze oude mijnroute oprijden, en onze jeeps in de open lucht zijn aangepast voor een soepelere rit, hoewel het halverwege nog steeds hobbelig zal zijn. Het maakt allemaal deel uit van het plezier!

Ontmoet ons 's morgens of' s middags op ons Durango-kantoor voor een 4-uur durende excursie door de ruige, prachtige wildernis van La Plata Canyon, op slechts 20 minuten van de stad. Het pad begint soepel en gaat langzaam over in een onverharde weg, ongeveer halverwege de kloof. Maak je klaar om rond te rocken en leer de persoon naast je kennen! Terwijl we de berg opgaan, stoppen we om enkele watervallen, weilanden en oude overblijfselen uit het wilde mijnbouwtijdperk van Colorado te bekijken. Houd onderweg uw ogen open voor herten, marmotten, vossen, roofvogels - en als u geluk heeft, een eland of beer! I would highly recommend this tour with mild to wild tour company. Specifically asked for Jay as he was an amazing tour guide! He was enjoyable, knowledgeable,and was at our service. He stopped whenever we wanted to stop and was more than happy to explain everything that we were seeing, including how all of the rock formations and mountains were formed millions of years ago! We did not want the tour to end! Be sure to ask for Jay!

The jeep tour with Cat was fantastic. Cat shared stories of the La Plata canyon folks while pointing out the various highlights of the tour. She took us to the top of the canyon and we were able to walk on the colorado trail and go to the cliff and see phenomenal views. We had a great day Thank you Cat.

The jeep ride up to the Colorado Mountains from Durango was a fun morning trip. We were blessed with wonderful weather and our driver/guide Paul managed the very bumpy roads very well. That’s not to say that it wasn’t wildly bumpy— be forewarned— it was bumpier than I expected . The scenery was really beautiful and I enjoyed the waterfalls. Paul was a very nice driver and guide but knew less about the flora than I expected— he was more intent on telling us about all the current housing settlements in this off grid area than the geology and flora. I do think $125 per person which we paid was maybe a little expensive but then there is no way I could have traveled up there on my own. The views were stunning.
