De reis begint bij de opmerkelijke Hermitage van San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, internationaal erkend als “Dragonstone” uit de Game of Thrones-serie. Deze betoverende plek wordt bereikt door 241 treden tussen zee en rots te beklimmen, met een prachtig uitzicht op de Baskische kustlijn. Vervolgens gaat de tour naar Mundaka, een charmant vissersdorp gelegen in het hart van het Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve. Mundaka staat bekend om zijn beroemde linkergolf die surfers wereldwijd aantrekt, en boeit bezoekers ook met zijn rijke maritieme erfgoed. - BELANGRIJK - Te allen tijde moeten de adviezen die op de toegangspunten worden gegeven, worden opgevolgd en moeten de maatregelen en aanbevelingen die door de gezondheidsautoriteiten zijn vastgesteld, worden nageleefd. Het wordt aanbevolen om de weersvoorspelling voor de dag van het bezoek (Euskalmet) te controleren en de aanbevelingen van de autoriteiten op te volgen in geval van extreme weersomstandigheden. Op dagen met een oranje waarschuwing en om gezondheidsincidenten te voorkomen, wordt geadviseerd om niet naar de San Juan de Gaztelugatxe kluizenaar te wandelen tijdens de getroffen uren. In ieder geval is het aan te raden om zelfbeschermingsmaatregelen te nemen, zoals het dragen van comfortabel en geschikt schoeisel, jezelf beschermen tegen de zon en goed gehydrateerd blijven.

Excellent value. Great location worth trying.
The trail was simple to walk but the downward angle and the return was steeper than expected but the views were worth it
Pilar was excellent and very knowledgeable. San Juan de gaztelugatxe and Guernica were excellent and lunch was in Mendaka. In general, I thought 1.5 hours for the San Juan hike is too short and requires considerable stamina. There was also no time to relax for more than a few minutes during the day. I think if it had been 2 destinations instead of 3 (leave out Mendaka) we could have slowed the day down and enjoyed the hike more. Also, for middle aged women, be aware there is only a really dirty port a potty at the beginning of the hike and nothing else for several hours until you return to the meeting point.
Going to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe was AMAZING but in all honesty the whole trip was fabulous. There was a hiccup in the reservation resulting from what I thought was a 1/2 day tour to an 8.5 hr tour. The company was so accommodating! I would book with this company any day over others. They were so helpful with providing alternative options that we ended up staying the entire tour! José was the BEST guide. Enthusiastic about his job and the guests on the tour. It really showed that he loves what he does. A ton of information about the towns etc! Even gave out his number for after the tour if anyone needed further recommendations for the area. I have never had the experience before. Best tour company/guide EVER!
A decent tour but needs work. Those who have mobility challenges, or problems, walking up and down steep hills will find this tour very challenging. In addition, it was rushed it, especially considering how far Dragon Stone was away from where the bus dropped us off. At the second stop, we barely had time.(1 hour) to grab something to eat before it was back on the bus. Considering how busy it was walking around the town to see anything else was out of the question. At the third stop the guide did give us some local flare, but spent a little too much time in my opinion discussing the politics of why Picasso made his Guernica mural. There were some German tourist in our group, and I felt the guide was a little too pointed about the fact that it was German military that bombed the town. In all of the locations there were a lot of hills a lot of walking, and while for most people that’s probably not a problem. The things that we’re being shown, if people have those challenges, I mentioned at the first, they are going to have a hard time keeping up and will not enjoy this tour.

Wonderful tour, the guide Nora was very good, adding a Basque touch because she is from there. Gaztelugatxe is a great place worth seeing even if you are not a fan of Game of Thrones. The day I went, the heat was almost 40 degrees, so there were uncomfortable moments, but it is worth it; Mundaka, Bermeo, and Gernika have their charm. My only "complaint" is that this tour requires very good physical condition; the uphill, downhill, uphill, downhill, and especially the final uphill (the return) are very demanding, and not everyone can handle it. I think it should mention something in the activity description on the Viator site; the guide warned me when we arrived, and it is indeed a strenuous tour. Aside from this detail, I highly recommend it!
