Dit is een leuke en ontspannende tour van Otavalo Market. Je stopt bij geweldige foodie-sites, bekijkt een prachtig meer, bezoekt de Quitsato-zonnewijzer, drinkt een geweldige kop Ecuadoraanse koffie, proeft smakelijke bizcochos en snaarkaas, eet het beste stuk taart in Ecuador, geniet van een lunch bij een gastronomische sandwich- en hamburgerstop in Cotacachi (leerstad) en winkel tot je erbij neervalt op de beroemde inheemse markt van Otavalo. Het draait allemaal om plezier hebben, lekker eten en genieten van het leven als een local in Ecuador.

Een van onze eerste stops tijdens de tour is de mooie stad Cayambe. Je rijdt langs het unieke stadscentrum en de pleinen terwijl je je een weg baant naar de beste Bizcocho (koekjes) en String Cheese-fabriek in Ecuador. De bizcocho's worden elke dag vers en helemaal opnieuw gemaakt. Je ziet ze worden gemaakt en in de traditionele ovens geplaatst. Deze bizcocho's zijn erg lekker en in combinatie met de string cheese een heerlijke ochtendsnack. U kunt ook genieten van de dulce de leche (karamel) en een snelle kop koffie of warme chocolademelk drinken. Deze stop is de perfecte remedie tegen ochtendtraagheid.
Eenmaal aangekomen in Otavalo gaan we naar het beroemde Plaza de Los Ponchos. De inheemse bevolking van Otavalo staat bekend om het weven van textiel, meestal gemaakt van wol, dat op de beroemde markt wordt verkocht. Op zaterdag breidt de markt zich door de stad uit, maar elke andere dag vindt u verkopers en stands op de Mercado de Los Ponchos. De winkels verkopen textiel zoals handgemaakte dekens, tafelkleden, handwerk, schilderijen en nog veel meer. Ik ben dol op de Otavalo-markt, je kunt altijd iets interessants of eigenzinnigs vinden om mee naar huis te nemen als souvenir of om je huis te versieren. Het is altijd leuk om te onderhandelen met de verkopers en hun verhalen te horen.
We stoppen bij Lago (Lake) San Pablo voor wat bezinningstijd in het midden van de prachtige en rustige omgeving. Er is een kans om voorouderlijke kajaks te vinden die door de lokale bevolking worden gebruikt voor races in het meer. Ik had de kans om deze voorouderlijke kajaks te ervaren en het is een vreemde maar geweldige ervaring. Als we dit van tevoren plannen, zijn er kleine boten die je rond het meer brengen, het is een coole ervaring.
Cotacachi is een prachtig Andes-stadje midden in de bergen. De stad is mooi, zeer goed onderhouden, georganiseerd en pittoresk. Je voelt je veilig en niet druk als je door de hoofdstraat van Cotacachi loopt, waar je de beste leerproducten in Ecuador vindt. Cotacachi is altijd beroemd geweest om zijn leerproducten zoals jassen, portemonnees, portefeuilles, riemen, schoenen, enz. Tegenwoordig hebben nieuwe lokale modeontwerpers prachtige en unieke leerproducten gemaakt waar je voor kunt winkelen. Veel van mijn eerdere klanten waren op zoek naar het perfecte leren jack en hebben het in Cotacachi gevonden. Na wat etalages, zullen we lunchen bij een geweldige sandwich- en hamburgertent die ambachtelijk brood, lokaal rundvlees gebruikt en de meest verse en meest heerlijke lekkernijen in de stad maakt. Als je een koffieliefhebber bent zoals ik, gaan we na de lunch koffie drinken in een nieuwe hipster coole koffielounge in Cotacachi. Geloof me, deze plek serveert een gemene koffie.

Andres did an amazing job showing our friend group parts of Quito on our way to Otavalo. He shared so much information about the area and the history of the highlands. We enjoyed the local Biscottis and coffee. The Museo Solar was something that should not be missed. The highlands tour is a must. Andres was a fantastic host and guide for our trip to this beautiful area.

We had a very good trip at the two markets and solar museum and the bisnocho place. Diego is a great guide, friendly and knowledgeable. I spent more time than scheduled in the Otavalo market which pushed the return time more than an hour late and there was traffic coming back. Diego waited patiently. While in the solar museum Diego showed us around the Agavae garden and gave us detailed explanation on each variety. It was a great experience. Learned a lot at solar museum. Bisnocho was delicious. Lunch was very tasty, bought what I like in the markets. Highly recommend this trip and highly recommend Diego.

Andreas was a great guide, chatty and full of knowledge. We had a full day out from 9am to 6pm. We visited the equator museum, biscuit and cheese making shop, Otavalo, Cayembe and Cotacachi. We learnt a lot about the local culture and Ecuador. Would definitely recommend this trip

Excellent tour of markets and a few bonus points. Galapagos Connoisseur LLC did a wonderful job. We were picked up on time at our Hotel. Our guide, Gean Pierre was most attentive to what we wanted to do on the day tour. We got everything accomplished and never felt rushed.
