Dagtrip Chimborazo vulkaan & Balbanera’s kerk vanuit Guayaquil

Chimborazo is de hoogste vulkaan en berg van Ecuador, en het punt het verst van het centrum van de aarde met een hoogte van 6263,47 meter boven zeeniveau. De laatst bekende uitbarsting vond vermoedelijk plaats rond 550 na Christus. We maken een stop in Balbanera’s Church om deze ongelooflijke kerk te bewonderen, daarna hebben we een panoramisch uitzicht op de Chimborazo vulkaan, de auto komt aan bij de eerste schuilplaats en we beginnen te lopen naar de tweede refurge van deze geweldige vulkaan.

Ophalen om 4:00 uur, we beginnen de tour door de pax op te halen bij het hotel, dan gaan we richting het Chimborazo Wildlife Production Reserve in de provincie Chimborazo,
Onze eerste stop zal zijn bij de Balbanera kerk om de kerk te bewonderen die bijna aan de oevers van de Colta lagune werd gebouwd, het heeft een plein dat dient voor inheemse concentraties, als achtergrond voor de bevolking van Villa Unión en de majestueuze Chimborazo, in de plaats is er een restaurant waar elke passagier kan ontbijten (Optioneel ontbijt), na deze pauze zullen we onze weg vervolgen naar de Chimborazo Vulkaan, het voertuig komt aan bij de Hermanos Carriel Refuge die op 4.850 meter boven de zeespiegel ligt, dan zullen we de beklimming maken lopen richting de tweede Whymper toevluchtsoord dat op 5.000 meter boven de zeespiegel ligt, de wandeling is niet zwaar, maar we gaan op het tempo van de passagiers. We hebben tijd voor de betreffende foto. We zullen een typische lunch hebben in een traditioneel restaurant in de omgeving en dan terugkeren naar Guayaquil. Einde dienst en terugkeer naar het hotel.

The Balbanera Church was very beautiful, I loved how the little Virgin has so many gifts from the believers and how it is said to be the first church in the country, it is fascinating to see it up close and appreciate its architecture, it is not that flashy but it is captivating. I really liked the service from the girl who helped us, super friendly with the customers.
Juan Carlos, our driver and Alexandra, our tour guide were fantastic. We were looking for a challenging hike & even though it was less than 2 miles, it was tough because it was above 16,000 feet. Alexandra made it look easy. The views are amazing & although it was a long time in the car, Juan Carlos was amazing & we saw so much of rural Ecuador. The lunch was at a small, local place & the food was great. Juan Carlos stopped at a fruit stand on the way home so we could grab some fresh bananas & mangoes.
This tour was absolutely amazing! Chimborazo was kind enough to show its magic peak and alpacas were either bunching up or running around. We hiked from the first refuge (4800m) to the second one (5000m). It took us quite some time and it was challenging, but we really wanted to try ourselves. This tour is definitely worth the time and the money spent on it in my opinion.

This tour was absolutely fantastic! Chimborazo was kind enough to us to show its magnificent snowy peak. The drive of 5 hours was through beautiful Ecuadorian mountains and scenic roads. The climb from 4800m to 5000m was a bit challenging, but we wanted the challenge so we went for it. And it was absolute worth it for us! The view at the second refuge is incredible!
