We beginnen de tour in het beroemde Seminario Park, ook wel bekend als Iguana Park. Dit kleine maar emblematische park herbergt talloze leguanen die vrij rondlopen tussen de bezoekers. Hier kunt u deze fascinerende reptielen van dichtbij observeren, voeren en zelfs enkele foto's met ze maken.
Burgemeesterskantoor en Administratieplein: We vervolgen onze tour richting het Administratieplein, waar het kantoorgebouw van de burgemeester van Guayaquil is gevestigd. Deze plaats is een administratief centrum en een belangrijk historisch punt van de stad. Het plein is versierd met beelden en tuinen en is een geweldige plek om meer te weten te komen over de lokale geschiedenis en de neoklassieke architectuur van het gemeentelijk paleis te bewonderen.
Guayaquil-kathedraal: Op een steenworp afstand van Parque Seminario ligt de imposante kathedraal van Guayaquil, officieel bekend als de Metropolitan Cathedral van San Pedro. Deze kerk in neogotische stijl is een van de belangrijkste katholieke tempels in de stad. Het interieur, versierd met glas-in-lood en indrukwekkende architectonische details, biedt een ruimte van rust en toewijding.
Moorse toren: Nog iets verder lopend bereiken we de Moorse Toren, ook wel bekend als de Publieke Klok. Deze toren, met zijn kenmerkende Mudejar-stijl, is een van de meest erkende iconen van Guayaquil.
Malecon 2000: Vervolgens gaan we naar Malecón 2000, een uitgebreid recreatief en toeristisch gebied dat zich uitstrekt langs de rivier de Guayas. Hier vindt u een combinatie van groen, historische monumenten en uitgaansgebieden. Het is een ideale plek voor een ontspannende wandeling, met een prachtig uitzicht op de rivier en de stad. We bezoeken de vergaderzaal van de Rotonda, waar de beelden van Simón Bolívar en José de San Martín staan.
Las Peñas oude stad: We eindigen de tour in de wijk Las Peñas, de oudste sector van Guayaquil. Deze pittoreske wijk, met zijn geplaveide straatjes en kleurrijke huizen in koloniale stijl, is een historisch en cultureel juweeltje. Als u de trappen van de Numa Pompilio Llona-straat naar de Santa Ana-heuvel beklimt, kunt u genieten van een spectaculair uitzicht over de stad en de rivier. We had a great city tour with Tour Guide Julio Rosas and Driver Andre. The itinerary was quite unique and very good for us to get a quick overview of the city’s landscape, history and the people. Julio seemed to know everyone, greeting and talking with locals. We felt very safe and comfortable with him in the city. The cable car ride through the city and into Duran was very beautiful too.

What a wonderful way to see the city. Julio Rosas was my guide for the day and he couldn’t have done any more to make the day memorable. Truly passionate, friendly and knowledgeable. My son (12) and I did this private tour and loved it. Francisco was a fantastic guide — knowledgeable, friendly, and great with kids, keeping things engaging for my son while sharing rich history with me. We covered a lot: the colorful Las Peñas stairway up Santa Ana hill, the Malecón waterfront, the Rotonda monument, an up-close encounter with the park’s iguanas, a scenic Aerovía cable car ride over the river, and a gorgeous hilltop view of the city. Being private meant we could go at our own pace and ask lots of questions. We also felt very safe throughout the tour — Francisco knew the city well and made sure we always felt comfortable. The tour of Guayaquil with Julio Rosas & Andre was fantastic! Julio was a true Guayaco and did a wonderful job helping us experience Guayaquil culture. We got to see many of the top tourist sites all over the city while staying within the tour time. I will note that we didn’t get a chance to climb las Peñas up to the lighthouse, which I was a little disappointed about, but all in all even as a native to Guayaquil I really enjoyed this experience and would definitely recommend it!
