De Royal Albert Dock is een complex van havengebouwen en magazijnen in Liverpool, Engeland. Ontworpen door Jesse Hartley en Philip Hardwick, werd het in 1846 geopend en het was de eerste structuur in Groot-Brittannië die werd gebouwd van gietijzer, baksteen en steen, zonder structureel hout.

Penny Lane werd natuurlijk beroemd door het lied van The Beatles met die naam, uitgebracht in 1967. John Lennon en Paul McCartney ontmoetten elkaar op Penny Lane om een bus naar de stad te nemen. Hun gedeelde jeugdervaringen op straat inspireerden hen om het nummer te schrijven, dat werd uitgebracht als een dubbele ‘A'-kant met‘ Strawberry Fields Forever ’en later verscheen op het Amerikaanse album‘ Magical Mystery Tour ’. Veel Beatlesfans maken een bedevaart naar Penny Lane in het zuiden van de stad om de straat te zien. Het is nog steeds een levendig gebied, met onafhankelijke bedrijven langs de straat. Er is zelfs een kapperszaak op dezelfde plek waarnaar in het nummer wordt verwezen.
"Vrijwel zeker de belangrijkste ontmoeting in de geschiedenis van de populaire muziek", zo werd onlangs de eerste ontmoeting van John Lennon en Paul McCartney beschreven. De bijeenkomst vond plaats in St Peter's Church Hall op de avond van zaterdag 6 juli 1957 ... Terwijl ze wachtten om te spelen op het kerkdans die avond, werden John Lennon en de andere leden van de Quarrymen Skiffle Group voorgesteld aan de jonge Paul McCartney door een gemeenschappelijke vriend.
The Cavern Club opende op 16 januari 1957 als een jazzclub en werd later een centrum van de rock-en-roll-scene in Liverpool in de jaren zestig. The Beatles speelden in de beginjaren in de club.

Great insight into the lives of the Beatles. Loved visiting the Cavern, sharing a drink and listening to live music. A step back to the 60s, very nostalgic.

Please know, there is absolutely no signage to help direct you once you arrive in Liverpool. There was no success reaching out to customer support. The tickets sent for the attractions could be scanned by the venue. Train tickets were not accessible. The day was long, expensive and stressful.
What a perfect day. Everything was planned out. From the train ride to Liverpool to the Beatles Story to the Magical Mystery Bus Tour. Our guide Robin and driver Neil were wonderful.
Well my husband loves the Beatles and he loved this tour. I loved Liverpool which I was not thinking would happen. Robin our tour guide was amazing and Neal our driver was also great.

The highlight to me was the MMT bus. The driver and the guide did an excellent job with their knowledge and kindness. The Beatles story was very info intensive. More than I had time for. From the train station to the dock, where everything was at, is about a 20 minute walk.

It was a fantastic day, weather was great. Del the tour guide was really entertaining, experienced all the sights, that I never thought I would see. Ending the tour at the Cavern Club put the exclamation point to the tour.

There aren't any signs leading to Albert Dock when arriving at Liverpool Station. The walk to the dock is not leisure...it's 1.5 miles navigating crowded and uneven cobblestone streets. Transport to the dock would have been nice. Not enough time at the stops during the bus tour. We wanted to get back to London on an earlier train and tickets are not eligible for exchange. The only good thing was our tour guide Del and bus driver Steve. They were absolutely wonderful. Also dropped off in a different location and had to walk .5 miles back to train station. Also additional walking is required to get to the cavern. For that price there should have been transport to eveything.

My husband and I loved this tour! The Beatles experience was full of facts & memorabilia. We especially loved the Magical Mystery Tour bus was the best thanks to our fun tour guides, Del & Neal.
