Een schilderachtige, 40 minuten rijden van het centrum van Oxford brengt ons naar de rand van de Cotswolds en het mooie dorpje Bampton - hoewel fans van een bepaalde tv-show het misschien beter kennen als 'Downton'! Er zijn cafés en winkels hier om snacks in te slaan en een kleine Downton Abbey tentoonstelling voor de superfans!
Na 15 minuten rijden van Bampton, komen we aan in het mooie dorpje Shilton - een verborgen juweeltje hier in de Cotswolds! Dit charmante dorpje ligt buiten het toeristische pad, rustig en vredig, met een zeer pittoreske ford (rivier die de straat oversteekt). Het is een prachtige plek om te stoppen en snap-happy te worden met je camera!
Verlaten Shilton, nemen we de schilderachtige weggetjes (30 minuten), via de mooie dorpjes Eastleach en Coln St Aldwyn's, naar uw volgende halte te komen - het populaire dorp Bibury. De thuisbasis van de beroemde Arlington Row van huisjes, Bibury wordt vaak beschreven als "het mooiste dorp in Engeland". Kijk zelf maar!
16 - zits minibussen kunnen rijden op wegen ongeschikt voor grotere bussen - en de 40 - minuten schilderachtige route van Bibury naar Bourton-on-the-Water is een perfect voorbeeld hiervan! Slingerend door de prachtige Coln Valley komen we aan in het must-see dorpje Bourton-on-the-Water (een dorpje waar grotere bussen niet kunnen parkeren). Je hebt hier ongeveer 1 uur en 15 minuten vrije tijd om dit mooie dorp aan de rivier te verkennen. Misschien lunchen in een van de vele gezellige tearooms of cafés, wandelen langs de rivier Windrush, winkelen voor cadeaus of een bezoek aan een lokaal museum.
Het verlaten van Bourton-on-the-Water, op 25 minuten rijden - door de mooie dorpjes Great Barrington en Taynton - brengt ons naar uw laatste stop in het historische Cotswold marktstadje Burford. Wandel naar ‘The Hill’ voor prachtige huisjes en verreikende uitzichten, winkel voor cadeaus en antiek, of neem een cream tea in een van de lokale tearooms. Mis de indrukwekkende ‘wolkerk’ van St. John The Baptist met zijn verrassende geschiedenis niet!

- Er is geen bord bij de bushalte met ‘C5’, maar als u de kaartlocatie gebruikt die is verstrekt, of What3Words-locatie game.stays.reward, bent u op de juiste plek! De bushalte is een populaire tussenstop voor touringcars en minibussen. St John's College en een kleine blauwe take-away food kiosk zijn aan de andere kant van de weg.
- Kijk uit naar onze vriendelijke Gids in Go Cotswolds uniform, rijdend in een grote witte minibus met groene en paarse Go Cotswolds branding - u zult ons niet missen!
- Als u met de trein in Oxford aankomt, houd er dan rekening mee dat ons ophaalpunt op 10 - 15 minuten lopen van Oxford treinstation ligt.
- Uber en soortgelijke diensten zijn niet algemeen beschikbaar in Oxford en de Cotswolds, en lokale taxi's kunnen moeilijk zijn om last minute te boeken. Wij raden u ten zeerste aan om vooraf taxi’s te boeken of waar mogelijk het openbaar vervoer te gebruiken.
- Als u niet op tijd bij uw ophaalpunt bent (09:30) en wij geen contact met u kunnen opnemen, vertrekt de tour zonder u. Zorg ervoor dat we uw juiste mobiele nummer met internationale kiescode hebben voor uw tour.
- Plan na de tour een eventuele verdere reis na 16.30 uur.
- We hebben voldoende beveiligde bagageruimte aan boord van onze voertuigen, maar houd er rekening mee dat onze gidsen mogelijk niet kunnen helpen met zeer zware bagage
- Kinderen van 3 tot 15 jaar moeten te allen tijde worden begeleid door een volwassene. Sorry, geen kinderen jonger dan 3.
- Tours lopen in alle behalve gevaarlijk weer – kleed je gepast!
- Toegankelijkheid : Gebruikers van lichtgewicht mobiliteitshulpmiddelen zoals wandelstokken, loopframes en opvouwbare handrolstoelen zijn welkom op onze tours, mits u 3 treden kunt beklimmen om in en uit onze minibus te stappen, meerdere keren tijdens de tour. Lichtgewicht, opvouwbare handrolstoelen kunnen in de bagageruimte van onze minibus worden opgeborgen. Het spijt ons, we kunnen geen rolstoelgebruikers ontvangen die niet zonder hulp in en uit hun stoel kunnen stappen, noch kunnen we elektrische rolstoelen of scootmobielen ontvangen.

This was a truly special tour that perfectly captured the quintessential villages and beautiful countryside of England. Thanks to the small group and bus size, we were able to visit quieter, hidden-gem villages untouched by mass tourism, alongside the more well-known spots. At each destination, we were given the perfect amount of free time to explore and enjoy at our own pace. Peter was an incredibly kind and knowledgeable guide who brought the history and culture of England to life. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an authentic look at the English countryside! (Note to the tour company: Peter kindly took a group souvenir photo of us, but I haven't received it via email yet. I would be so grateful if you could check on this, as I would love to have a copy to remember this wonderful trip!)

Book it! Absolutely amazing! The guide was talking lound and clear, he was easy to follow and so wonderful that we got to see some of the less touristy villages as well! The only thing was that in Burton-on-the-water - 1hour,15min was too little. Should have had 2 hours here. So many cute shops and things we wanted to see, but had every little time to discover when we also needed to eat. But absolutely amazing trip!

The tour was wonderful. The visited towns were charming. Our guide, Pete, was very friendly, and his pronunciation of English was very clear and easy to understand. The stories he told were very interesting and entertaining. 100% recommendable. The only detail is that we would have liked to spend more time at each stop; a suggestion is to extend the duration of the excursion.

Lots of nice villages and towns but not enough time between stops. Some stops were not really necessary and staying longer to the most busy places would have been nicer. The driver was very kind and helpful with lots of information to share between locations
