Sigiriya of Sinhagiri is een oude rotsvesting gelegen in het noordelijke Matale-district nabij de stad Dambulla in de centrale provincie, Sri Lanka. De naam verwijst naar een site van historische en archeologische betekenis die wordt gedomineerd door een enorme kolom van rots bijna 200 meter hoog.
Dambulla is het grootste en best bewaarde grottempelcomplex in Sri Lanka. De rots torent 160 m boven de omliggende vlaktes uit. Er zijn meer dan 80 gedocumenteerde grotten in de omgeving. Belangrijke attracties zijn verspreid over vijf grotten, die beelden en schilderijen bevatten. Deze schilderijen en beelden zijn gerelateerd aan Gautama Boeddha en zijn leven. Er zijn in totaal 153 Boeddhabeelden, drie beelden van Sri Lankaanse koningen en vier beelden van goden en godinnen.
De safari wordt uitgevoerd in een van deze nationale parken in Minneriya, waar u vele olifanten en andere wilde dieren kunt zien (Hululu Eco National Park, Minneriya National Park, Kaudulla National Park). Fantastic and nice tour from Kandy, just like the last tour we visited last time. All in all, had a great time with them and the price was reasonable as well.
The wildlife park was very good we got to see elephants up close and peacocks and the driver and guide were very knowledgable. Had buffet lunch at a nice spot then walking up to Sirigiya and stop off on the way back for fresh coconut! Our guide was very good he was informative and navigated all the roads well.
We came to Srilanka yesterday and I booked this tour as the reviews were amazing and everything was reputable. So, yeah, I would say that the tour was worth the money.
Great Day trip and highlight being the safari and seeing about 20 elephants. Before the trip was told the price of enterance cost and jeep hire most of which has to me paid in cash. The rock is a great experience, but it is about 1,200 steps to the top! I'm in my 60s and took me under one to get to the top then had a rest a got to the bottom within 2 hours total. The Dambullar caves were very interesting, but over 300 steps to get to them! Warning a person came up to us and told us about the caves and then wanted 1,000 as he was a guide which to be honest was ok. Great trip and you will sleep well afterwards.
Just amazing, nothing negative, everything is above positive that's just how good it is. The hotel that I stayed was situated in kandy, so I bed this tour from kandy, and it was perfect. I was picked up in a comfortable car, throughout the whole tour it was super and the booking was absolutely easy, my driver Wasa was also very attentive and covered al my needs. Absolutely positive.
Me, my parents and my sibling had a wonderful experience throughout the tour. I was thrilled when I experiences the level of service they had offered and it was unbelievable. The locations we visited were also awesome, the safari,the sigiriya Rock and Dambulla cave, were top notch.
I had an amazing trip from Kandy to Sigiriya and safari, it was cheap as well. Yes we did all the entrances and jeep cost but worth every penny. Communication from the start to end was perfect. Our driver suresh was really nice and careful driver, he explained many things regarding culture and history. Overall satisfied day tour.
