It was a very nice trip. The driver mr irfan was very helpful. We visited all three heritage sites. Great experience.
Mr. Shamin provided a good experience and managed my time well. Very satisfied.
It is a great trio of world heritage sites, each offering something different. It is an early start and a LONG day (13+ hours for us). But well worth making the effort if you are based in Kandy, as once you're up in the cultural triangle you might as well go and see Poannaruwa as well as Sigiriya. The trip had a guide and a driver, though the guide did not come into the sites with us, they just explained it and pointed us in the right direction. Dambulla caves admission is cash only, and it is best to have some small notes if you need to get a sarong to cover your knees or tip the shoe watchers. The ticket counter at Dambulla is at the bottom, and they check the tickets at the top of 300 stairs, so make sure you get a ticket BEFORE climbing. We saw one unfortunate soul who did not and got to make the journey twice. In Sri Lankan Buddhist temples, you take off your shoes when entering the site, not just the temples, so going early morning will save your bare feet from the heat. Sigiriya is amaxing, but it is a long climb. I'd recommend taking 500ml bottles of water, as there is a refilling station about midway, both up and down. So this will save you a bit of weight, and given the heat and the climb you will want to keep hydrated. You can buy tickets with a credit card. Polannaruwa was done last, and the heat was pretty substantial (37C). The guides will drive you between the main sites, so a lot less effort than Sigiriya. The guides did get us some water, pepsis, and bannanas along the way, but otherwise we were packing our own stuff for food. We had our hotel pack us a breakfast to go, and I would highly recommend this, as you need to keep fueled up to make it through the long day.
Amazing Experience, this was the only trip I could find that covered all three sites, it’s a long day, but definitely worth it. Our driver Mohamed Irfan was very attentive and took care of us, getting us breakfast, taking photos and also took us to an extra Buddhist temple that he thought he should see. Which was a beautiful treat.
Fantastic tour! All three sites were uniquely beautiful, inspiring, and beyond my very high expectations. Shamin was exceptionally polite, knowledgeable, and accommodating, and his English skills are impeccable. Would not change a thing! Especially recommend taking this tour and sparing yourself the hassle of what would be a very challenging self-driving environment.
This was a fantastic way to see three of Sri Lanka’s most impressive UNESCO World Heritage sites in a single day from Kandy. It’s definitely a long day, but incredibly rewarding and very well organised. We visited Sigiriya, Dambulla Cave Temple and the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, each of which offers something completely different - from the incredible climb and views at Sigiriya, to the beautiful cave temples at Dambulla, and the vast archaeological ruins of Polonnaruwa. A big part of what made the day so enjoyable was our driver, Irfan. He was friendly, kind and extremely professional throughout the trip. He’s a great driver and made the long journey feel very comfortable. He was also very patient at each stop, happy to wait while you explored, and always willing to stop along the way if you needed a break or wanted to take photos. He even offered to take photos at several of the sites, which was a really thoughtful touch. The car itself was spotless, spacious and fully air-conditioned, which makes a huge difference given the distance covered during the day. Overall, a brilliant experience and a great way to see some of Sri Lanka’s most iconic historical sites in one trip. I would highly recommend this tour - and if you have Irfan as your driver, you’ll be in very good hands.
We enjoyed the day, although the trip was a little long for us we didn’t actually climb any of the steps at the attractions as itwould’ve been too much for us but we enjoyed everything we saw and the trip was worthwhile
Had a fantastic day out with Shamin our driver. He looked after us so well and went out of his way to make sure we saw everything we needed. He was extremely knowledgeable and made our day so enjoyable. Thank you Shamin, until the next time....

This trip seems like a long time being 12-14 hours but it is worth it and the time passes quickly. We had a great guide who added a couple of other stops in to break the journey
Dear Gary, Thank you so much for your lovely review! You’re absolutely right — this is a long day (around 12–14 hours), but we’re really happy to hear it felt worth it and that the time passed quickly. That’s exactly what we aim for: a well-paced journey with good planning and comfort. We’re also delighted you had a great guide who added a couple of extra stops to break up the drive — those small touches make a big difference on a full-day trip, and we’re glad it helped you enjoy the experience even more. Thank you again for choosing us, and we’d love to welcome you back for another adventure in Sri Lanka! Warm regards, Zameek
Our driver & guide, Irfan, picked us up from the hotel in Kandy at the stablished time and we started our trip to Dambulla. On our way he took us to a nice buffet restaurant so we could have breakfast. Once finished we continued driving and stopped in Matale to visit Sri Muthumari Temple, which was not planned and turned out to be beautiful. We continued and visited the Cave Rock Temple in Dambulla and in our way out we stopped to see the golden Buda which is a few minutes away. Next we visited a spice garden where they told us about ayurvedic culture and showed us some spices and their use. We continued to Sigiriya, Irfont went with us to buy the tickets and while we visited the park he waited for us outside. From Sigiriya we headed to Polannaruwa but before arriving we stopped to have lunch at a buffet he recommended which had local dishes and was really good. After lunch we continued the drive to Polannaruwa ancient city and he drove us inside the park to visit the different ruins. Through out the entire trip he was very attentive to us and what we needed, he often offered to take pictures from us and gave us reccomendations about what we should not skip during our visits and it turned out he spent more hours with us than what we had arranged. We also where able to see many animals which made the trip even better. We highly recommend this tour, if you book this tour or any other and Irfan is your driver & guide, you should feel very lucky.
Dear Sara, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and wonderful review of your Sigiriya, Dambulla & Polonnaruwa day tour from Kandy. We’re truly delighted to hear that your day was smooth, enjoyable, and memorable from start to finish. It’s great to know that the pickup was punctual and that the breakfast and lunch stops, as well as the unplanned visit to the Sri Muthumari Amman Temple in Matale, added extra value to your experience. These little local touches often make a big difference. Your kind words about Irfan mean a lot to us. He is indeed a very dedicated driver-guide, and we’re happy to hear that his attentiveness, helpful recommendations, patience, and willingness to go beyond the planned hours made your journey even more special. We’re also glad you enjoyed exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the spice garden experience, and spotting wildlife along the way. Thank you once again for your strong recommendation. We truly appreciate your trust in us and hope to welcome you back to Sri Lanka for another tour in the future. Warm regards, Zameek
