Deze tour van een halve dag met een kleine groep is de gemakkelijkste manier om het beste van Cusco in één middag te zien. Vanaf 13:00 uur verken je samen met een vriendelijke lokale Gids en een kleine groep reizigers het hart van de stad en de belangrijkste Inca-sites eromheen. Wandel door de Plaza de Armas, de beroemde 12 Angled Stone, en Loreto Street, waar koloniale gebouwen boven de originele Inca muren uitrijzen. Bezoek Koricancha (Tempel van de Zon) en reis vervolgens met comfortabel toeristisch vervoer naar Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara en Tambomachay. Het is een perfecte, ontspannen middag om te leren, foto’s te maken en te acclimatiseren voor Machu Picchu. Uw tour begint om 13:00 uur in het hart van Cusco, het prachtige Plaza de Armas. Hier laat je Gids je de belangrijkste koloniale en Inca-gebouwen rond het plein zien en legt uit hoe dit gebied ooit het belangrijkste ceremoniële centrum van het Incarijk was. Je loopt dan naar de beroemde 12 Angled Stone, perfect aangebracht in een oude Inca muur, en vervolgt je weg langs Loreto Street, beschouwd als een van de mooiste voorbeelden van Inca stedelijk ontwerp, met originele stenen muren aan beide kanten. Het is de perfecte introductie tot Cusco’s mix van Inca en koloniale geschiedenis.
Vervolgens bezoek je Coricancha, ooit de belangrijkste tempel in het hele Incarijk, gewijd aan de zon.Hier zie je hoe de Spaans het Santo Domingo klooster bouwden bovenop de originele Inca funderingen. Binnen kun je het perfecte Inca-steenwerk duidelijk vergelijken met de koloniale architectuur erboven. Uw Gids zal uitleggen hoe deze tempel ooit bedekt was met goud en werd gebruikt voor belangrijke ceremonies, astronomie en aanbidding, waardoor het een van de meest fascinerende plaatsen in Cusco is.
Vervolgens gaat u met de auto naar Sacsayhuaman, de meest indrukwekkende Inca-site met uitzicht op Cusco. Dit enorme fort is beroemd om zijn gigantische zigzag stenen muren, met blokken die zo perfect passen dat je er niet eens een stuk papier tussen kunt schuiven. Terwijl je door de site loopt, zal je Gids verhalen delen over Inca-gevechten, ceremonies en hoe Sacsayhuaman vandaag de dag nog steeds een sleutelrol speelt tijdens het Inti Raymi-festival. Vanaf hier kunt u ook genieten van enkele van de beste panoramische uitzichten op Cusco en de omliggende bergen.
Je volgende stop is Qenqo, een mysterieus Inca ceremonieel centrum dat bijna volledig uit rotsen is gehouwen. Je verkent de kronkelende doorgangen, uitgehouwen kanalen en verborgen altaren die waarschijnlijk werden gebruikt voor belangrijke rituelen. De naam Qenqo betekent “zigzag” in het Quechua, en als je eenmaal binnen bent, begrijp je waarom. Uw Gids zal de verschillende theorieën over het gebruik en de spirituele betekenis van deze heilige plaats uitleggen, waardoor u zich kunt voorstellen hoe het er in de Incatijd uitzag.
Je gaat verder naar Puka Pukara, wiens naam “Rode Fort” betekent in het Quechua. Deze site diende waarschijnlijk als militair controlepunt en rustplaats op de weg die Cusco verbond met de Heilige Vallei en de jungle. Vanaf de terrassen en stenen muren heb je open uitzicht op het landschap en kun je je voorstellen dat Inca-boodschappers en reizigers op doorreis zijn. Je Gids zal wachtposten, muren en kamers aanwijzen, en laten zien hoe deze kleine maar strategische site hielp de hoofdstad te beschermen.
Tenslotte bezoekt u Tambomachay, een rustige Inca-site die bekend staat om zijn heldere waterfonteinen en elegant steenwerk. Vaak de “Inca Baden” genoemd, kan het een plaats van rust en aanbidding van water zijn geweest voor de Inca adel. Hier zie je perfect gebouwde aquaducten en kanalen die na honderden jaren nog steeds water vervoeren. Het is een rustige, mooie plek om te genieten van de frisse lucht, foto's te maken en het diepe respect voor de natuur van de Inca's te waarderen voordat je teruggaat naar Cusco.

Trexperience was recommended by a close personal friend from their recent Peru trip. It did not disappoint. Frank was very knowledgeable, kind and thoughtful. He picked us upon our arrival at the airport in Cusco. We visited a llama sanctuary on our way out to Pisac and Ollytaytambo. The impressive archeological sites are amplified when coupled with explanations by someone with deep pride and knowledge of the history. Frank altered our itinerary when he recognized our fatigue from the red eye flight. Day two we visited Chinchero, Moray and Maras for more local history. Each day included a van, driver, lunch, entry tickets to archeological sites, and hotel. Why sit in Cusco waiting to acclimatize when you can explore, learn and immerse prior to Machu Picchu?

The trip was a super easy way to visit all the key sites of the Incans, and we were led by our wonderful guide, Jennifer. She had a wealth of knowledge about every site, and was able to answer every question. We also stopped at a llama and alpaca center, which was a super fun experience.

The Sacred Valley tour was amazing! Everything is organized really well, and the benefit of doing this tour is you get to see so many different sites in one day! This is perfect for those with limited time and want to see a lot of the important sites. Jennifer, our host, also made the trip really interesting and entertaining. TreXperience had a fun premade tour through the Sacred Valley, but our Guide Leo made the valley come alive with history and levity and Victor kept us safe and comfortable along dynamic roadways. Ullantaytambo was positioned at the right elevation for us to acclimate before time in Cusco and a 4-day hike on the Inca Trail. To our larger trip with TreXperience, we added two days of tours through the Sacred Valley, which finished in Cusco. This was semi custom. There is more to experience in the Andes and I would find Leo to lead me off the beaten path.
Leo was an amazing guide and would highly recommend him to all my friends and family. Victor keep us on time and was an excellent driver. My greatest thanks to the both of them.
