Het is de belangrijkste archeologische vindplaats van de Inca's in Ecuador. Bewonder de ruïnes, waaronder de enige elliptische tempel van de zon, gemaakt van perfect gebeeldhouwde stenen. Op zondag bezoeken we de inheemse Cañar-markt. Hoogtepunten: • Bezoek de grootste archeologische Inca-vindplaats in Ecuador en de enige elliptische tempel van het Inca-rijk • Geniet van de schoonheid van de Ecuadoriaanse Andes terwijl u door het vruchtbare ranchland van het platteland rijdt. • Bezoek de Cañar-markt en dompel uzelf onder in de tradities van de lokale inheemse stammen (zondagen)

Deze stad is de hoofdstad van de provincie Cañar, terwijl we voorbij rijden, hebben we een geweldig uitzicht over de stad en onze gids zal de invloed van moderne architectuur uit het buitenland uitleggen.
Deze kerk heeft een zeer kenmerkende gotische bouwstijl, die teruggaat tot het einde van de 19e eeuw. Het is gebouwd op een heuvel en heel vaak zul je de lokale bevolking door de steile heuvel naar de kerk zien lopen als eerbetoon aan de maagd. Daarna bezoeken we een inheemse familie waar we het weven van Panama-hoeden zullen observeren. Dit is een van de meest authentieke ambachten van Zuid-Ecuador en speelt een prominente rol in de economie van het gebied. We vervolgen onze tour met een rit door de betoverende hooglanden en genieten onderweg van de prachtige uitzichten.
Ingapirca is de belangrijkste Inca-archeologische vindplaats van Ecuador. Zonaanbidders bouwden deze fort-tempel in de Cañar-vallei in de 15e eeuw. Het ligt ongeveer 60 mijl ten noordoosten van Cuenca op een hoogte van 10.500 voet boven zeeniveau. Hier vinden we een van de belangrijkste Inca-bouwwerken, een elliptisch platform dat bekend staat als de 'Zonnetempel', omgeven door binnenplaatsen, terrassen en verschillende andere bouwwerken. Om de lokale sfeer van dichterbij te bekijken, maken we een korte wandeling om de Inca’s Face, een grote rotsformatie, te observeren.

I really enjoyed this visit to Ingapirca and learned so much history about the Cañaris and Incas. The countryside is so beautiful and was a nice comfortable drive, with fun stops along the way. It feels really special to visit the site, and Andrés was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend this day trip, either private or as a shared tour.
