Cu Chi-tunnels - Luxe rondleidingen van een halve dag

De tunnels zijn een geweldige bestemming op 70 km van Ho Chi Minh City Centre naar het noordwesten. Cu Chi stond in de oorlogstijd bekend als het 'staalgebied' en de tunnelsystemen waren meer dan 200 kilometer lang, wat werd beschouwd als het onbreekbare ondergrondse dorp in de Vietnam-Amerikaanse oorlog. Het is legendarisch vanwege zijn netwerk van tunnels en is een populaire bestemming voor zowel Vietnamese als buitenlandse bezoekers.

Bij aankomst, voordat je de tunnels gaat verkennen, zul je een korte introductie hebben, gevolgd door een inleidende video over hoe de tunnels werden gebouwd en hoe de mensen overleefden in de barre omstandigheden van de oorlogstijd. Besteed uw tijd aan het verkennen van het resterende gebied en tunnelsystemen, waaronder de speciaal gebouwde woonruimtes met keukens, slaapkamers zij aan zij met andere krijgshaftige faciliteiten zoals opslag, wapenfabrieken, veldhospitalen en commandocentra die iedereen in de tunnels helpen te ontmoeten hun basisbehoeften. Trouwens, er zijn ook veel verborgen valluiken en gevaarlijke vallen in de doolhofachtige tunnels voor veiligheidsdoeleinden tijdens de oorlog. Nadien wordt speciale thee en cassave (guerrilla's voedsel tijdens de oorlog) geserveerd. Pauzetijd voor ontspanning of tijd voor degenen die het echte schietpistool willen proberen. Keer terug naar Saigon. Einde reis.

Must see if in this part of Vietnam, I'm from Scotland so heard and watched films but to see in person this was an eye opener, to understand how this was handled in the war, underground living, fighting and just been there was unreal experience
It really shows the struggle of the Vietnam people against their fight with Americans. These tunnels really signify their struggle. Unless personally seen a person cannot imagine their struggle. Must see to understand the agony Vietnam people faced against their fight with Americans and also that the Americans lost against the Vietnamese people in this fight. The tunnels shows how these people that is Vietnamese survived in these tunnels
Had a great day here. Had an opportunity to shoot an AK47. Yen had plenty of knowledge to share with us about the tunnels and how they fought and lived through the war. Was very interesting to see how hard life was for all involved. A must see to understand the tragedy of war. Thankyou.
Kyle, our guide from Saigon Happy Tour, was like having a local friend give you a tour of his favorite place in Vietnam (Cu Chi tunnels). He was passionate in explaining the history of the Vietnam war and the crucial role of these tunnels. He was also articulate in sharing the current Vietnamese perspective of the war, Viet culture and their hopes for the future. Excellent tour!
Was visualized how tunnels were built, and how the Vietnamese who had little had to resort to ways to fight the enemy.
Cu Chi Tunnels experience was great, BUT be careful at the gift shops around the area where the tour guides up sell the gifts saying that the money is going to people in need. When making a purchase do not let our item out f site especially when it comes to the staff packing your gifts, as they will do the old switcheroo and pack a lesser quality item of the same look and design.
Our tour guide Poh was great! Fun day out. Interesting to see the tunnels and learn more about the Freedom War of the Vietnamese.
Really disappointed with this trip, the main issue is the utter overcrowding, there seems to be no limit to the amount of people on site at any one time. Also from an educational standpoint it's also a big letdown, it feels more like a low rent theme park, there is a rifle range where you can fire a AK47 for an extra charge, who thought it a good idea to put the cafe right next to the rifle range, needs their head examing! A word of warning if you are tempted to order a Banh Mi from the cafe, it's without a doubt the worst food we have had in Vietnam by a long way! All in all well worth avoiding.
Un very nice and educational experience with the guide James. A lot of insight into the impact of war on a human level, since he is the grandson of an FNL soldier
Our tour guide Jen was excellent and contacted us the evening before to confirm time and collection from hotel which she did at precisely 10am. Our driver was Lucky who did a great job managing the early morning Ho Chi Min traffic. Jen was great and very well informed regarding the Cu Chi Tunnel next work and answered all our questions . The journey was very comfortable and we were well stocked with water. The tunnels were amazing to see however we decided not to go through them however we did visit the underground workshop and hospital. We decided against participating at the firing range as it was very busy on that particular day . I would recommend wearing walking shoes or good quality trainers as the ground is very uneven and expect to get dusty/ dirty if you decide to enter the tunnels .
