We vertrekken 's ochtends vanuit Ho Chi Chi Minh-stad om de Cu Chi-tunnels te bezoeken, bekend om hun rol in het anti-Amerikaanse verzet tijdens de oorlog in Vietnam en nu gezien als een symbool van heldenmoed. Met meer dan 220 km aan ondergrondse tunnels is het een populaire toeristische attractie voor zowel Vietnamese als buitenlandse bezoekers. De schilderachtige route van Ho Chi Minh-stad naar Cu Chi loopt door het lokale platteland en biedt bezienswaardigheden zoals eenden en buffels langs de rivier. Ondanks het rustige uiterlijk van vandaag, is het moeilijk voor te stellen hoeveel verwoesting er in het verleden door bombardementen en mijnen werd aangericht, toen Cu Chi werd aangewezen als een 'vrije doelzone'.
Nadat we de tunnels hebben onderzocht, gaan we naar My Tho, een provincie in de Mekong Delta. We beginnen aan een boottocht langs de bovenste Mekong en zijn getuige van de vier diereneilanden die zijn vernoemd naar wezens in boeddhistische overlevering: draak, eenhoorn, feniks en schildpad. Tijdens dit deel van de tour krijg je een glimp van het lokale Vietnamese leven en hoe het verbonden is met de rivier. Later nemen we je mee op een roeiboottocht door de smalle waterwegen, waarbij we de vruchtbare landbouw van de delta laten zien met zijn fruitboomgaarden, kokosnootplantages en bijenteeltbedrijven. Tijdens de tour heb je de mogelijkheid om honingthee, seizoensfruit, vers kokossnoep te proeven en te genieten van Zuid-Vietnamese volksmuziek. Uiteindelijk keren we terug naar Ho Chi Minh-stad en zetten we je rond 18.30 uur af bij je hotel.

We were picked up and dropped off very smoothly. The tour was very organized. Toan was amazing and very informative.
This is a very busy day with lots of driving. The Cu Chi tunnels were amazing but felt very rushed so you struggle to get the full experience. The Mekong Delta was disappointing and a bit of a tourist trap. What was most disappointing about the experience was our tour guide Mr Tu. The group was having a wonder time and while we were at the Mekong at the candy making session the group were looking at the local stalls all within 20m and sticking together while Tu was preparing snacks at a near by restaurant. Tu was so angry that we were looking at the shops that from that moment on he would barely speak to us for the rest of the tour and made it that uncomfortable for EVERYONE. We tried to say sorry (unsure why we needed too) as he could still clearly see us. It was beyond unprofessional and unacceptable. Everyone was so uncomfortable for the rest of the day and it ruined the whole experience.

After reviewing the tour with our guide, we found that there was a misunderstanding during the Mekong Delta visit. As this was a shared group tour, the guide asked everyone to remain at the designated meeting point before continuing to the next activity. Unfortunately, your family walked away from the meeting point, so the guide had to leave briefly to locate you and ensure no guests were left behind. That said, we believe our guide could have handled the situation with more patience and professionalism once everyone had reunited. We have already discussed your feedback with him as part of our ongoing training. We would also like to clarify that the local honey and coconut candy workshops are optional cultural experiences. Guests are welcome to observe or leave at any time, and there is never any obligation to make a purchase. This double activity is worth doing it while In Ho Chi Minh City. It offers two different things in one day. The first one in the Vietkong tunnels gives a full perspective of the Vietnam war from the Vietnamese point of view.The second in the Mekong Delta is fun and entertaining. The tour guide Matthew is exceptional in his job and with good English
Thu was an exceptional guide! She accompanied and assisted us throughout the tour. The visit to the tunnels was very nice and I really appreciated that she also shared very touching family experiences! Clear in his explanations, always polite and kind. The boat trip on the Mekong was also nice; the only thing I liked little was that the boatmen demanded a tip (but this obviously does not depend on the guide). I understand that they may also live off this, but asking in such an insistent way is really impolite, especially for those who do not have a tipping culture.
Definitely a trip not to miss when visiting Vietnam
It was a very enjoyable tour and ticked the boxes to visit on a trip to HCMC. Other than the longer drives was a pretty steady pace tour. Better to do together than as separate days.
We thoroughly enjoyed this action-packed day tour! Our guide, Xem, was very friendly and enthusiastic, and he had plenty to tell throughout the day - he made sure the day was good. The tunnels are unique (a must-visit in HCMC), and the stops by the delta were more genuine than on other similar river tours we’ve done in SE Asia. We were most impressed by the coconut candy-making stop, they’re super tasty! Highly recommended
