Een bezoek aan een van de hoogste actieve vulkanen ter wereld is een onvergetelijke ervaring. Onze tour stelt u in staat om Cotopaxi National Park veilig en comfortabel te verkennen met de steun van een lokale berg Gids die de ervaring in het park vergezelt. U reist per 4x4 voertuig naar het José Rivas Refuge, hoog gelegen op de hellingen van de vulkaan, waar u kunt genieten van adembenemende uitzichten en ervaren wandelen op grote hoogte. De tour omvat ook bezoeken aan de lagune van Limpiopungo en het Interpretatiecentrum, waar u meer kunt leren over de geologie, wilde dieren en de geschiedenis van het park. Om de ervaring compleet te maken, raden we u een stop aan bij een traditioneel lokaal restaurant nadat u het park hebt verlaten, zodat u de kans krijgt om te genieten van authentieke Ecuadoraanse gerechten terwijl u wordt omringd door de landschappen van de Andes.

Uw chauffeur haalt u op bij uw hotel of accommodatie in Quito. Van daaruit reizen we zuidwaarts langs de Pan-Amerikaanse snelweg, ook wel bekend als de beroemde Avenue of the Volcanoes, genietend van een prachtig uitzicht op het Andeslandschap terwijl we richting Cotopaxi National Park rijden.
Bij aankomst bij de ingang van Cotopaxi National Park ontmoet je een gecertificeerde lokale Gids, die nodig is voor bezoeken in de beschermde gebieden van het park. Vanaf hier gaat de ervaring verder in een 4x4 voertuig, waardoor de toegang tot de hogere delen van het park mogelijk is. De eerste stop is de parkeerplaats onder het José Ribas Refuge, gelegen op ongeveer 4.800 meter boven zeeniveau. Reizigers kunnen een korte wandeling maken naar het toevluchtsoord en genieten van een spectaculair uitzicht op de gletsjer en de omliggende vulkanische landschappen. Onderweg naar beneden rijden we verder naar de Limpiopungo Lagoon, een prachtig hooggelegen meer waar bezoekers wilde paarden, Andesvogels en het unieke páramo ecosysteem kunnen observeren. We bezoeken ook het Cotopaxi Interpretation Center, waar reizigers meer te weten kunnen komen over de geologie, wilde dieren en de geschiedenis van het nationale park.
Na het verlaten van het park raden we een optionele stop aan voor de lunch in het traditionele restaurant El Rondador, gelegen in de buurt van de vulkaan, waar reizigers kunnen genieten van lokale Ecuadoraanse gerechten en ontspannen voordat ze terugkeren naar Quito.

Jorge the tour guide and Marcelo the driver took great care of us and ensure that our group of 6 wee able to make it to the Refige despite the challenging weather of intermittent rain and very windy conditions
What an awesome experience! Jorge was absolutely phenomenal. He was very kind and patient, and told me a lot about the history of Ecuador and the surrounding area. His English was excellent! My guide, Jessica, was also phenomenal. I am not fluent in Spanish, but I was able to converse with her some. She was also very kind and knowledgeable of the area. After the hike and visit to the lagoon, Jorge took me to a local Ecuadorian restaurant. The food was amazing! You are truly able to get a taste of the local culture there. As an added bonus, you can feed and pet some llamas they have behind the restaurant. I would definitely book this experience again!

I cant explain how amazing this adventure was. The original reason for our presence was a wedding. But, I learned so much during the week i was here. From airport service to volcano to Historic Center. The guides were more than knowledgable (Jorge, Alejandro and Alex) all were amazing! Great english and quick to make us feel comfortable through the vibe of the city. The cost was minimal and definitely affordable to the point i want to do it again. There was not a problem navigating through the people as it was not too crowded. They are the best for teaching you about the country while here. I loved the Basilicas and the Mountains both. Did 2 days with Jorge! First day we did an 100% customized Trip to Mindo Cloud Forest - We enjoyed it so much, that we chose to book another day with him after an 1week stay at Galapagos. We wanted to have something „special“ as it was my wife’s Birthday! So we gave Jorge some information on what she enjoys to see and he planned the trip. And what to say, it was absolutely outstanding! The two of us visited Lake Limpiopungo and had a lovely hike in the area with a very friendly local guide. There is also the option to hike all the way to José Rivas refuge at 4.864 meters, but we did not do so because we had not acclimatized to the altitude enough. Instead, we visited a nearby town and a bit of Quito that we had not seen yet. Overall, Jorge, the owner is very flexible, punctual and drives carefully. This private tour was about $60 more expensive than a group tour for 2 people, but the freedom and flexibility makes up for it. Recommended!
Jose was the best driver in Ecuador we had! While bringing us from A to B he explained a lot interesting Things about his country and the people and we learned so much. Beside this he is really friendly and gently! Thanks Jose!
We used Jorge for several trips over 3 weeks. He was always on time, the vehicle was very clean, the driver was very careful, and he was thoughtful and courteous. His knowledge of the area was an added bonus to the trip. In the future, we will certainly use his services again.
