In deze tour zullen we twee bestemmingen bezoeken en we zullen de mezca van archeologie, geschiedenis, natuur en koloniale stad hebben. Cihuatan, is de meest uitgebreide archeologische vindplaats en een van de best gerestaureerde, je wordt begeleid door zijn balspelen, door het centrale plein, je zult in staat zijn om de hoofdpiramide te beklimmen, je zult begrijpen waarom het wordt genoemd: De volgende plaats naar de vrouw. Suchitoto is de best bewaarde koloniale stad, die om de een of andere reden ervoor heeft gezorgd dat de meeste van zijn huizen meer dan 250 jaar intact zijn gebleven, ondanks het feit dat het in een vulkanisch land ligt dat is getroffen door aardbevingen.

Cihuatan (in Nahuat: plaats naast de Vrouw) is de grootste archeologische vindplaats in El Salvador, maar ook een van de minst bekende. Je bezoekt de prachtige gebouwen die de stad doen schrikken zoals het theater, of de imposante koloniale kerk van Santa Lucia. Je hebt een indrukwekkend uitzicht op het vredige meer van Suchitlan, bekend als de perfecte plek om vogels te spotten. Na de rondleiding door de stad heb je extra tijd om op je eigen manier door de stad te reizen. Bezoek de kunstwinkels, proef desserts in de coffeeshops of maak foto's van deze prachtige stad, bezoek de prachtige kunstgalerijen. En je kunt er de indigo producerende winkels bezoeken, een prachtige natuurlijke kleurstof die jarenlang het belangrijkste exportproduct van El Salvador was.
We bezoeken de emblematische waterval Los tercios, bekend om zijn speciale gevormde rotsformatie. Een perfect gesneden beeld, gemaakt door Moeder Natuur; Zijn interesse ligt in de spectaculaire compositie van de verticale wand van de waterval, gevormd door zeshoekige blokken van fijn gebeeldhouwde steen, die de bodem van de waterval vormen. De hoogte van de sprong kan meer dan 10 meter bedragen en hoewel het in het droge seizoen een uniek beeld vormt, is het in het regenseizoen wanneer het water door de blokken naar beneden komt, zijn grootste pracht en landschappelijke schoonheid bereikt. I was the only person on this trip that day. The guide had so much to share, and knows the place very well! He also happened to be the one who manages the tour company too; his story growing up in El Salvador and struggling through its tumultous history touched my heart! I enjoyed a lot of random fruits along the way, which was so much fun :-) Please go on this trip!
It is a full-day tour (about 8ish hours) and a great way to experience El Salvador if you're only there a couple of days. You'll walk a lot. Our guide was Herbert and he was really good. Our first stop was the Volcano above San Salvador (El Boqueron National Park). You'll get a terrific view over San Salvador and you can do the glass floor walk over the caldera. Very good way to start the day. Next you will visit the Cihuatan ruins. The guide Herbert was really knowledgeable on the Nautl people and language and you will see the pyramid, ball court and temple grounds. It was really interesting and informative. Finally you'll visit the old capital of El Salvador Suchitoto, which is a beautiful quaint colonial town. We stopped and ate at La Posada de Suchitlan for lunch, a restaurant with incredible vistas, gardens, and good authentic Salvadoran food. Then you'll get a little walking tour of Suchitoto including the quaint church in the middle of town. Be sure to buy some coffee because it is delicious. Again, great single day El Salvador experience, great guide, and bring your walking shoes.
We had a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide from Eco Tours Petate. He was early at our hotel. He even provided us with chilled water. After leading us around the Mayan ruins and the charming colonial town he selected a restaurant overlooking a lake where we dined in style together.

This is the best tour I’ve had in El Salvador. I have a fascination with the Mesoamerican civilization, which has taken me to places in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras. El Salvador was the last Maya country I had not yet seen. I had a private tour with Eco Tourism and Herbert as my guide. He was very knowledgeable about the places we visited and about El Salvador in general. He had answers to all my questions. The pacing of the tour was exactly what I expected. Herbert was very passionate about what he does and highly professional.
This was a great tour! Antonio was such a great tour guide. Suchitoto was a beautiful historical city. We got nice pictures of the lake. I was really impressed that Antonio took us to the first house in Suchitoto. It was incredibly historical and well preserved. Entire tour was really great and well organized. All credit to Antonio.
