Colonial Williamsburg is a place that every American should visit. We happened to go just before our country's big 250 year celebration. We opted to take a guided walking tour. Our Tour Guide, "Will" was excellent. He was able to give us the experience that we would never have gotten on our own. I definitely recommend taking a tour with someone who knows the history like he did.
We had a fantastic experience with Will! He was incredibly flexible and accommodating, answered all of our questions, and truly tailored the tour to our interests. Since it was a very hot day, he made sure we found shady spots whenever possible and kept an eye on us to make sure we stayed well hydrated. We were only in Williamsburg for one night, so this private tour was the perfect way to learn about the area and make the most of our limited time. Will was knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely wanted us to have the best experience possible. If you’re looking for a private tour of Williamsburg, we highly recommend Will. He made our visit memorable and enjoyable, and we left feeling like we had learned so much in just a few hours!
We had an outstanding experience with our private tour guide in Willimsburg, VA. From the very beginning, he was incredibly flexible and accommodating, even adjusting the appointment time because we were late. Being able to talk on the phone immediately with a life person to arrange new appoments was wonderful. Our guide was Will Fox. His extensive knowledge made the tour both informative and engaging, and he went above and beyond by providing additional insights and interesting details that enriched our experience. What truly stood out was Will’s willingness to adapt to our needs and preferences, ensuring that every aspect of the tour was comfortable and enjoyable for us. His professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail made the day memorable and stress-free. I highly recommend Will Fox to anyone looking for a personalized, informative, and exceptional experience. We couldn't have asked for better service and would gladly book with this company and specifically with Will Fox again in the future!
My husband & I took an East Coast road trip for our anniversary, and Colonial Williamsburg was the 3rd stop. This was a treat! When I booked through Viator our guide, Will Fox, texted me back and asked questions about what we were most interested in learning about. I let him know this our first trip to Williamsburg learning about Revolutionary War times, and mentioned I was interested in the role of slavery in the United States - but also U.S. History in general. Will understood the assignment! As a matter of fact, he studied and tailored our tour for the perspective we were looking for, and filled in some of the blanks. He included history that's not well known, the way people lived, wealth inequity, services, education of slaves,, those who were benefactors and those who were not, details of the College of William & Mary, the role of the Rockefeller in the development of Colonial Williamsburg, even art and architectural history. Since we only had one day, this was an excellent use of our time. We didn't buy passes to enter the buildings, but I don't know if that would've added much. If we had stayed an extra day, we likely would've gotten passes to see the buildings' interior exhibits. But the walking tour was exactly what we were looking to experience. Our tour was about 2 hours, it was hot and sunny that day (mid-June), but manageable because there was lots of shade. Midway through we took a break with water. We also stopped at the gift shop to pick up some merch. Excellent tour, highly recommended for history buffs. Our guide was interesting, engaging, had a great positive energy and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Sharon was an excellent and knowledgeable tour guide. She made the experience fun and communicated well answering all our questions. The tour wasn’t rushed and Sharon even gave out a couple gifts at the end.
Lots of information. June is a good month because while it was warm, and there were people, it was nowhere near what the crowds are in summer. Will was great. Knows his stuff and really enjoys sharing his knowledge.
Bambi is so knowledgeable about the history of colonial Williamsburg. She had so many colorful stories to make out 3 hour walking tour so enjoyable.
Will Fox was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable on Williamsburg. Plus he was just a great guy. My brother and I thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. Answered all of our questions and bought out many interesting points on Williamsburg. Meeting and parking at the Williamsburg Inn was great.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I’m delighted to hear you and your brother had such an enjoyable time with Will. He truly has a gift for bringing the stories and hidden details of Colonial Williamsburg to life, and I’m so glad his knowledge, personality, and thoughtful answers made the experience memorable. We’re also happy the convenient meeting location at the Williamsburg Inn helped make your day easy and enjoyable. Wishing you both a tour-iffic 2026!
This was an excellent tour. Our tour guide (Bambi) was knowledgeable on the ins and outs of Colonial Williamsburg--all the historical facts. This was our first private tour and it was worth every penny. We left Williamsburg appreciating our rich American heritage. For us this trip begins our celebration of the 250 year anniversary of America and the liberties we enjoy.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! It was a joy sharing the rich history of Colonial Williamsburg with you, and I’m so glad your first private tour felt worthwhile. Excellent tour, Will was knowledgeable and shared a lot of information that we would have missed by just the costumed characters.
Thank you so much for your kind words! Will will be so pleased to hear this—he loves sharing those deeper stories and details that really enrich the experience beyond what you might see on your own. Wishing you a tour-iffic 2026!
