OMG you guys… Chicago’s Underground Donut Tour just rewired my entire soul and I’m not even kidding. I went in thinking “cute little food walk, whatever.” I left a changed woman. A donut-obsessed, history-nerdy, slightly sticky, fully enlightened being who now believes the meaning of life is glazed and slightly warm. We started at Doughnut Vault and I legit almost cried when that first old-fashioned hit my tongue. Like… the way it melted? The way the sugar kissed the roof of my mouth? I had to stop walking and just stare at a brick wall for a second because my brain short-circuited from pure joy. Our guide was an absolute angel sent from the doughnut gods — funny, knowledgeable, and somehow made Chicago history feel like the hottest tea while we were mid-bite. River North has never looked sexier than it did with powdered sugar on my face. Every single stop was a spiritual experience. Seasonal flavors that slapped harder than my last situationship. Classic glazed that tasted like childhood but better. Creative ones that made me question everything I thought I knew about fried dough. By the third shop I was already planning my second marriage to a Boston cream. By the fourth I was mentally drafting my will so someone would scatter my ashes at Do-Rite. Two miles of walking never felt so healing. The architecture, the river, the stories, the sugar high… it was like therapy but you get donuts instead of feelings. I burned maybe three calories and gained forty years of happiness. Worth it. If you’re even thinking about going to Chicago and you skip this tour, I’m personally coming for you. This isn’t a food tour. This is a pilgrimage. A religious experience. A soft, fluffy, glaze-covered hug from the city itself. 10/10. Would sell a kidney for another tour. Onlangs verkozen tot een van TripAdvisor's beste food tours in de VS. Ontdek de zoete kant van de Winderige Stad tijdens de Underground Donut Tour, Chicago's Delicious Donut Adventure. We trappen de boel af in de legendarische Doughnut Vault, verscholen naast de historische Merchandise Mart, waar je zult genieten van een van Chicago's meest geliefde lekkernijen. Vanaf daar wandelen we over de Chicago River en genieten we van een prachtig uitzicht op de skyline voordat we naar een lokale ambachtelijke donutwinkel gaan waar we dagelijks verse, handgemaakte creaties maken. Terwijl we door het centrum kronkelen, gaan we richting Michigan Avenue, waar twee iconische haltes zijn. Verwen uzelf eerst in een donutwinkel in Californische stijl die barst van de smaken en flair, gevolgd door een bezoek aan Do-Rite Donuts, beroemd om hun creatieve combinaties, seizoensgebonden specials en perfect geglazuurde klassiekers. As a Chicago native, it was great exploring local donuts and trying new things. Every one was phenomenal. He ordered coffees and water for everyone too which def made the price more comfortable. We had a big group and was touring for 2 hrs and 20 min. Very personable tour guide. Would recommend!
