HBO-serie Tsjernobyl werd gefilmd in een Vilnius, een van de slaapvertrekken - Fabijoniškės. Tijdens de tour bezoekt u Fabijoniskes en andere filmlocaties en leert u meer over het Sovjet-leven en de ramp in Tsjernobyl. De stad Pripyat ('vreedzaam atoom'), aan het eind van de jaren zestig opgericht om de fabriek te onderhouden, werd gedurende tientallen jaren gebouwd als het symbool van een vriendschap tussen de Sovjet-landen. De meeste Sovjetrepublieken hadden hun stadsdistricten tegen die tijd gebouwd. Dat is de reden waarom de serie werd opgenomen in de wijk Fabijoniskes in Vilnius, die als een voorbeeld van Pripyat diende. Een van de meest bezochte musea in Litouwen is een echte KGB-gevangenis en heeft nog steeds zijn KGB-cellen en folterkamers intact. De originele meubelstukken waar gevangenen werden vastgehouden, werden gebruikt bij het fotograferen van de serie. We eindigen onze rondleiding in het KGB-gebouw, zodat je het zelf kunt bezoeken.

My husband and I loved this tour from Domas. It was personalized to what we were interested in (answered all our questions) such as Soviet history and Chernobyl filming. We visited unique spots that only this tour would take you. Not only did we learn from this tour, we took incredible photos that became our favorite memory from our trip! After the site touring, Domas took us to the KGB museum where he gave insight on information we would’ve not known and gave us free time after to explore. Highly recommend for your visit to Vilnius!!

Amazing tour! The guide was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. You just cannot beat learning from a true local. Seeing the filming locations and learning about Lithuanian society was unforgettable!

Having recently watched the Chernobyl series, it was a delight to find out that there was a tour of where it was filmed in Vilnius. We only found out about it by accident, our bike tour guide mentioned it. Luckily, we managed to get booked in on our last day. We were collected from our hotel. The end of the tour is at the KGB museum which is included in the cost. The cost is a little steep but you are collected from your hotel and driven out of the centre of the city. Domas was a great guide and told us personal family stories which all added to the history of Lithuania under soviet rule. I now need to re-watch the series....

Domas came and picked us up from the hotel. His English is excellent. Not only did we get to see all the places that featured in Chernobyl the series, he told us about life under Soviet Regime. It was very interesting. He left us at the KGB museum which was on our to do list anyway.

If you are at all into Chernobyl (watch the new series first!) or Soviet-era Villus, check out this tour! It was something different and very fascinating. Definitely worth doing!

Had an interesting tour across the Soviet areas and the filming spots of the "Chernobyl" series in Vilnius with a great guide. Definitely different, but a great way to get to know the city. Would recommend!
