Tijdens deze privétour bezoekt u Catania - "Zwarte Stad" gemaakt van lava van de naburige vulkaan Etna. Met je vriendelijke en informatieve privégids zie je de belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden van Catania, leer je de interessante en soms tragische geschiedenis kennen, loop je door de prachtige barokke straten, bezoek je geweldige parken en proef je traditioneel straatvoedsel van Catania - arancini - heerlijke rijstballen gevuld met vleesragout en erwten.
Je begint de privéwandeling door Catania met een bezoek aan een beroemde vismarkt van Catania (open tot 13.30 uur, behalve op zondag) - de grootste en meest kleurrijke "pescheria" van Sicilië en waarschijnlijk zelfs van heel Italië. Je zult veel verschillende soorten vis en zeevruchten zien (en zeker ook kopen als je dat wilt) en de authentieke sfeer van de Zuid-Italiaanse folklore voelen.
Daarna loop je naar een oud Normandisch monument: het Ursino-kasteel, gebouwd in de 13e eeuw als koninklijk kasteel van het koninkrijk Sicilië. Daarna gaat de tour verder in de hoofdstraat van Catania, Via Etnea, vol met bars, restaurants en boetieks.
Loop verder door de charmante Via Etnea en u komt op het Duomo-plein - het grootste plein van Catania. Hier ziet u het symbool van Catania - de Olifantenfontein, en bezoekt u de parel van de Siciliaanse Barogue en UNESCO-erfgoed - de kathedraal - de belangrijkste kerk in Catania met een standbeeld van de heilige patroonheilige van de stad Sant'Agatha.
Als u de Via Etnea volgt, komt u aan op Piazza Stesicoro en ziet u de overblijfselen van het oude Romeinse amfitheater.
Je bezoekt Villa Bellini - prachtige stadstuin aangelegd in de 19e eeuw vol prachtige planten en bomen, monumenten en fonteinen. Hier zie je een verbazingwekkende botanische klok gemaakt van bloemen. Daarna gaan we naar een van de oudste en beroemdste "rosticceria"-bars waar je origineel Siciliaans straatvoedsel proeft - arancini - heerlijke rijstballen gevuld met vleesragout en erwten. Na de privéwandeling door Catania zet uw gids u af bij uw accommodatie of haven in Catania. De route kan variëren, afhankelijk van uw ophaalpunt in Via Etnea.

Our tour guide Elena was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She was very pleasant and made our experience wonderful. Nothing was too much for her.
We had booked the Etna tour, but due to rain it was cancelled. As an alternative we opted for the Catania tour. It was a positive choice. Our guide was friendly and explained the whole history of the city. It was a journey through Roman times to the Baroque. During the tour we also tasted arancini with meat sauce and pistachio. It was a learning experience for our children as well. Characteristic and fun is the fish market, wonderful is the cathedral of Santa Agata.
We had a wonderful tour of Catania with our tour guide Elena. She was so very interested in making it a great experience. She was extremely knowledgeable about the city and we learned so much from her. We also got to try local food, desserts and beverages. However, this tour is challenging from a walking perspective so only choose it if in good shape and prepared for walking. All in all, a wonderful day in Catania.
First day of our vacation in Catania and can’t recommend this tour enough! See the sights you want (and more), walk and get a lay of the land (so much to see/do in the immediate area) and best part is Elena, our fantastic guide! We were very pleased with this tour. Fabio, our tour guide, was outstanding, Extremely knowledgeable, accommodating, entertaining and friendly. He selected a great lunch place where he picked the dishes and wines for us to taste at a restaurant called "Razzmataz". Interesting name but food and wines were great and excellent service. We loved all of the sites that we toured. We loved Fabio!
