Tijdens deze twee uur durende wandeling door het centrum van Cardiff bespreken we deze reis van Cardiff van de Romeinse buitenpost naar de hoofdstad van Wales, waar de stad vooral in de negentiende eeuw snel groeide in omvang, bevolking en rijkdom. De geschiedenis van Cardiff Castle omvat 2000 jaar, van een Romeins fort tot een gotisch revivalpaleis. We zullen de geschiedenis, unieke kenmerken en de belangrijke families bespreken die dit middelpunt van de Welshe hoofdstad bezaten.
St. John's is het op een na oudste nog bestaande gebouw in het centrum van Cardiff, een symbool van het oorspronkelijke dorpscentrum van Cardiff. Hier zullen we de oorsprong en evolutie bespreken van de stad die we vandaag de dag hebben, van haar bescheiden oorsprong tot de hoofdstad van Wales.
Populair bij zowel bezoekers als de lokale bevolking, Cardiff Market is meer dan 130 jaar oud en is vandaag de dag net zo relevant als ooit tevoren. Het gebouw heeft niet alleen een fascinerende en gruwelijke geschiedenis, maar het is ook de thuisbasis van de Welshe keuken, zoals Welsh cakes, Laverbread en Bara Brith.

Eugene was very good, friendly, open and very knowledgeable. He engaged with the group answering every question. We went on the 11am walking tour on a Saturday morning with Eugene that covered all eras of the city and some bonus Welsh history added in. Plenty of facts and figures and dates and engaging stories about all our stops along the way. Highly recommended.
My daughter and I recently went to Cardiff on a city break and we booked the tour on line. It was excellent, Eugene gave us a lot of information on Cardiff as we strolled around at a nice pace. He met us promptly at the appointed time and he was very friendly and happy to answer any questions from the group. I highly recommend the tour.
Thoroughly recommend this tour. Eugene was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and didn't get too bogged done in too much detail which sometimes happens. Duration was about right and not too strenuous. Recommend after the tour getting the boat to Cardiff Bay. £8 and a Uber back to the centre was under £5!

While visiting Wales recently, we had a walking tour of the city with Eugene Fogarty. If you are lucky enough to travel to Cardiff, a delightful city, we strongly recommend that you hook up with Eugene. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable and knew all the right places to visit. A pleasure to spend a couple of hours with! And, he has a wonderful set of interesting life experiences.
We had an absolutely fantastic tour in Cardiff in January with Eugene. The experience was incredibly enjoyable and informative from start to finish. Eugene took the time to explain everything in great detail, answered all of our questions with enthusiasm, and shared so much knowledge about the city and its history. He is a brilliant guide—passionate, engaging, and genuinely interested in making sure everyone gets the most out of the tour. Unfortunately, I was leaving Cardiff that same day and couldn’t join another one of his tours, otherwise I definitely would have. Thanks to Eugene, I truly fell in love with the city and left with a strong desire to come back. I can’t recommend his tours enough!
