Deze tour combineert de immer populaire Franschhoektram met een bezoek aan het historische stadje Stellenbosch in een unieke setting. We hebben onze wijnproeverijstops zorgvuldig geselecteerd om een perfecte balans mogelijk te maken tussen degenen die op zoek zijn naar historische architectuur en Instagrambare fotozoekers voor de meest kritische wijnkenners van de wereld. Je wordt opgehaald bij je hotel in Kaapstad en ook bij het afzetten. Neem alsjeblieft je lege camera’s, verschillende outfits als je wilt en sterkste smaakpapillen mee als je op het punt staat om op reis te gaan naar nieuwe ontdekkingen en meer.

Nadat u bent opgehaald bij uw accommodatie in Kaapstad. U rijdt over de snelweg N2 door de Kaapse flats naar het bergachtige stadje Stellenbosch. Terwijl u rijdt, zal uw gids commentaar geven op de belangrijke bezienswaardigheden waar u langs rijdt. Bij aankomst in Stellenbosch stad, krijgt u de kans om uit te stappen en ontdek de schilderachtige en gezellige stad te voet. Endemische Kaaps-Hollandse stijl gebouwen vloeien parallel aan de lommerrijke straten van Stellenbosch en meer dan 150 jaar oude waterbogen maakt een opmars naar de noordoostelijke zachte helling van de stad. Oude en nieuwe winkels handelen in kunst, antiek, sieraden en houtsnijwerk. U kunt ook van deze gelegenheid gebruik maken om een kopje koffie te drinken en de levendige energie van de stad te absorberen voordat u verder gaat met uw eerste wijnproeverij van de dag.
Na de snelle verkenning van Stellenbosch stad, zal de volgende stop zijn bij Lanzerac wijndomein voor uw chocolade en wijnproeverij pairing ervaring. Lanzerac is een van de oudste wijndomeinen in Stellenbosch en beslaat ongeveer 200 hectare grond aan de voet van het Jonkershoekgebergte. Het prachtige wijnlandgoed staat onder vele attributen bekend om het hebben van de beste voorbeelden van de endemische Kaaps-Nederlandse architectonische gebouwen ter wereld. Het landhuis dat dateert uit de jaren 1830 heeft een provinciale erfgoedstatus en creëert samen met de wijngaarden en wijnkelder een typisch Franse traditie van het samenvoegen van een landhotel en een wijndomein. Het is in Lanzerac dat Pinotage voor het eerst werd gebotteld. Uw ervaring hier zal echter niets te maken hebben met de enige Zuid-Afrikaanse wijn, maar een unieke proeverij van 5 Premium-wijnen die perfect worden gecombineerd met een selectie ambachtelijke chocolade. De chocolades zijn bedoeld om de verschillende hoeken van de textuur van de wijn voor en na te laten zien.
Vanuit Lanzerac rijdt u op en neer over de heuvelachtige en kronkelende hellepas naar Tokara. In tegenstelling tot de historische Lanzerac, Tokara staat bekend om zijn moderne uitstraling, uitzicht dat zich uitstrekt tot aan de Tafelberg en een olijfgroef die produceert een aantal van de beste olijfolie in het gebied. De wijnproeverij hier bestaat uit 5 klassieke wijnen waaronder een Rose en een van de beste Carbert Sauvignon in het gebied dat sinds de eeuwwisseling al 2 decennia dicht bij de natuur ligt. De diepe rijke bodems bestaande uit ontbonden graniet, verweerde zandsteen geeft Tokara het voorrecht om individuele batches te verbouwen die vervolgens worden gemengd om topwijnen te maken. De Tokara wijnadviseur zal alle informatie van de wijnen delen terwijl u ze individueel proeft en als u tijd heeft, wilt u misschien ook de olijfolie of zelfs een kaasplank proberen. We behouden ons het recht voor om een alternatieve stop te maken als Tokara volgeboekt of gesloten is voor privé-evenementen
Na uw tweede wijnproeverij brengt de reis ons via het historische stadje Pniel naar Franschhoek. Een groot aantal boeren uit Frankrijk kwam in de jaren 1680 opdagen aan de Kaap en kreeg hier vervolgens land om wijngaarden te verbouwen en zo werd de stad bekend als Franschhoek, wat de Franse hoek betekent. Omgeven door bergen en verzorgde wijngaarden aan alle kanten, Franschhoek geeft men een prachtige correlatie van de natuur en het werk van de mens. Het prachtig aangelegde landgoed Leeu bestaande uit kunstgalerijen, hotel en restaurants laat een brandend verlangen achter om hier nog veel langer te blijven. We hebben hier een lunchpauze en misschien wilt u ook van deze gelegenheid gebruik maken om de winkels te verkennen, deze stad zou niet teleurstellen. Net als in Stellenbosch, hier vindt men kunstwinkels, juwelierszaken, fijne lederwinkels, kledingwinkels of zelfs fijne chocoladefabrieken!
Kort na de lunchpauze en de verkenning van Franschhoek, gaat de tour verder naar de Franschhoek-terminals voor uw tweede etappe van de wijnproeverij met de tram. Uw gids geeft u uw tramkaartjes en legt u uit hoe u de dienstregeling van de tram kunt lezen. De tram doet er doorgaans ongeveer 8 minuten over om tussen de boerderijen te reizen en u kunt uitstappen bij de boerderij van uw keuze uit de lijst met boerderijen op uw route. Twee zou het maximale aantal boerderijen zijn dat je met de tram kunt bezoeken, maar je kunt ook een derde doen, als de tijd het toelaat.
Je eerste mogelijke halte met de tram is bij de eerste boerderij van vrouwen in Franschhoek, Rickety Bridge. De tram zet u af bij de Rickety Bridge-terminals, waar u wordt opgehaald door een landbouwtractor met comfortabele stoelen en naar de wijnproeverij wordt vervoerd. Hier bent u van harte welkom om een van de beschikbare wijnproeverijen te kiezen. U kunt zich ook afmelden voor de wijnproeverij en in plaats daarvan plaatsnemen in Paulina's restaurant, waar u een hapje, een kopje koffie of een glas wijn kunt bestellen en kunt genieten van het panoramische uitzicht op de bergen en de wijngaarden van de Franschhoek-vallei.
Franschhoek kelder is een van de boerderijen in de wijnlanden van Kaapstad die de unieke wijn en kaas of handgemaakte Belgische chocolade pairings biedt. De Belgische chocolade wordt verderop in dezelfde stad gemaakt en de wijn ook. Een traditionele wijnproeverij is ook beschikbaar mocht dat een betere keuze voor u zijn. De Franschhoek kelder is ook het dichtst bij de tramterminals en als je je benen wilt strekken na een volledige dag van meerdere wijnproeverijen, kun je eigenlijk naar de terminals lopen om je gids en de rest van de groep te ontmoeten.
Op de terugweg naar Kaapstad heeft u de mogelijkheid om te stoppen bij een gevangenis waar Nelson Mandela de laatste 2 jaar van zijn 27 jaar in opsluiting heeft doorgebracht. Een levensgroot bronzen standbeeld van deze grote man staat net buiten de gevangenispoorten met zijn vuist in de lucht gebald alsof het kracht en moed symboliseert. Uw gids geeft u een korte samenvatting over het verleden, heden en de vrijlating van Nelson Mandela voordat u doorgaat naar Kaapstad om te worden afgezet bij uw hotel.

Simply put this was great. Our guide, Joseph, was awesome. He's friendly, very knowledgeable about the area, the history and the wines and he just makes you feel comfortable throughout the who day. We had a small intimate group for this tour which made it better as we bonded really well. For me, Lanzerac Wine Estate near Stellenbosch was the standout. With each of the wines, I chose to have chocolates with each wine. They paired the chocolates to the wine very well. The history behind the wines and the farm made it more real. Tokara wine estate is a very modern place which added a different ambience from Lanzerac. We then headed to Franschhoek and Leeu estate where we had lunch and another selection of wines. This was a good place to stop. As we were in a small group, we were relaxed, chatty and the lunch was good. After that we jumped on the Franschhoek wine tram which is ok. I'm judging it harshly as I am from Melbourne. But as the Franschhoek wine tram serves the wine estates, its a nice thing to travel on. We stopped at the Franschhoek Cellar for our final tasting. For me personally, Lanzerac Wine Estate was the pick of the bunch. I'm no expert on wines but I can taste the difference in each of them. Ultimately it was Joseph who made our day enjoyable. Aside from his knowledge, his personality filled the car and made us feel comfortable and we had a lot of laughs. Thanks mate!!

It was convenient to be picked up from my hotel and driven around the wine country. We stopped at four delightful vineyards and tried exquisite wines. The experience was delightful: our guide was knowledgable and the other guests made for a memorable experience. 12 international students riding high on wine were singing Sweet Caroline, Its a Kind of Magic, Country Roads, and other bangers after a day of beautiful vistas, friendly conversation, and fine wine. 12/10, highly recommended!

I was really looking forward to this tour and it didn’t disappoint. Candy (our guide) arrived on time and was very friendly. During the tour she shared great facts about the cities and towns and shared a lot about herself and life in Cape Town. She was personable and got to know each of us and made sure we interacted with each other creating a little family of friends. She gave great suggestions and and had us laughing the entire time!! Last week my sister and I had an absolutely incredible time with Peter leading us through a day of wine tasting. The wines and scenery were fantastic, but it was really Peter who made the trip what it was. When he wasn’t acting as our personal photographer, he joked around with us and was also very insightful about life in South Africa. If you want to visit the best vineyards and hit the tram in one tour, snag this one with Kevin. He drove and entertained us with stories! I am a wine snob and bought several bottles at Duty Free because the wine is that good, especially Boschendal and Tokara. 10/10 recommend 🥰

We had such a lovely day wine tasting in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek! Peter was our guide and he did the best job. The wineries were wonderful and the scenery was gorgeous. We also loved stopping to see where Nelson Mandela spent his last years of imprisonment before making the long walk to freedom. Such a wonderful day in Cape Town!
