My family went on the excursion to La Cañada yesterday guided by Israel Arteaga and it was truly a magical day. From the moment we joined our guide, Israel, he engaged us with the history and culture of the area. The drive to the site was also quite beautiful. The canyons that converge at the archeological site are gorgeous and the little hike was wonderful and even more fun because Israel was so knowledgeable about the landscape and plant life. The site itself is amazing and well worth the trip. And all along the way Israel made sure to both share the significance of the site and also engage my children who had their own thoughts to share with him. The whole experience was a pleasure and I would highly recommend it to my fellow travelers and lovers of culture!
A wonderful tour, with knowledgeable, friendly guides. A great value, including tour and transport to and from our B&B in the middle of San Miguel de Allende. We would highly recommend this to anyone interested in learning more about Mexico’s history and culture.
This is an important regional site to visit. Israel's style was easy to understand and he was willing to answer any and all questions. Highly recommended for all levels of interest.
We arrived at the pickup point and no one was there. We called Mitote, to inquire (spoke to Israel). First he said it was a large tour, that we'd be picked up shortly. Still no one showed. We called back and then he told us the site was closed today - sorry. So why did they not cancel ahead of time? We checked the hours...not closed today! Asked for refund, but he was not sure how that worked. This is our last day so we can't reschedule. VERY disappointed.
Sorry, that very day the archeological site was close to the public and we where told 5 minutes after 9 am, we are so sorry about the situation due to a legal conflict, we actually do not know when Is going to be re-open to the public, mis más sentidas disculpas por su mala experiencia, it was out of our control. Israel is a fabulous tour guide. His knowledge and emotional connection to Mexico is so heart warming and enjoyable. He guided us throughout this archeological site with intellect, respect and humor. Highly recommend Israel and Mitote tours in SMA.
Israel is an amazing guide! La Canada Virgen Pyramid experience would not have been the same without him. He was so incredibly knowledgeable about everything the history, the archaeology, the nature and wildlife and was simply delightful to be with. We took the trip with our kids and they loved it as much as we did.
Israel is very knowledgeable and amenable to our needs. He has a wealth of information on all topics, history, culture, biology/nature, geography and geology. He has many connections and he accommodated all of our requests, including an educational experience and a local liquor store to help us identify the best tequila and Mezcal. He also has a wonderful sense of humor, and we felt safe everywhere that he took us. Is English is very good and we have no trouble understanding him. He provided information during the ride back and forth to the site. It was a wonderful experience.
