Op slechts 30 minuten varen van Holbox ligt de Yalahau Cenote (Ojo de Agua), een plaats met zoet water dat, volgens legendes, vreemde eigenschappen heeft, omdat ze zeggen dat mensen, wanneer ze erin worden ondergedompeld, het gevoel hebben alsof ze 10 jaar minder. Ojo de agua is een groot natuurlijk zwembad waar zoet water stroomt, omgeven door planten, bomen en struiken, die je kunt zien vanaf het hoogste punt van het hier gelegen uitkijkpunt.
Isla Pasión is een klein eilandje dat op 10 minuten varen van Holbox ligt. Er wordt gezegd dat het de hoek van geliefden was en vandaar de naam. Het is de ideale plek om te genieten van maagdelijke stranden, de zon en de zee; vanwege de rustige sfeer en de tropische avonturenruimte, ver van de bewoonde wereld.
Een van de mooiste en meest rustige plekken die Holbox omringen is Isla Pajaros, op slechts 30 minuten afstand en waar u de grote verscheidenheid aan vogels kunt observeren die het bewonen, waarvan vele met uitsterven worden bedreigd, waarvoor ruimtes zijn geplaatst die zijn gewijd aan de bescherming en behoud. Onder de soorten die je zult bewonderen zijn flamingo's, pelikanen, eenden en anderen, allemaal in hun natuurlijke omgeving en zonder banden omdat ze in totale vrijheid zijn.

No turtles or flamingoes but the weather was nice

The tour was excellent, Christian our guide was super cool, friendly and patient, providing some explanations during the tour. You can go to Punta Mosquito without the hustle of the scorching sun or the mosquitos. Fully recommend this tour. .

We had a brilliant half-day trip exploring two beautiful islands and Mosquito Beach, with the third island visit changed due to windy conditions. Swimming in the “Yalahau” Cenote and seeing animals in their natural environment was the highlight of the experience. We also had the added bonus of spotting wild dolphins swimming on our way to “Mosquito” Beach. Our guide ensured we were well looked after throughout the trip and was a wealth of knowledge, with a great eye for spotting wildlife, which really enhanced the experience. Be sure to check the weather before you go, and if possible, choose the 10am start as it tends to be less windy and less busy.

A good bargain price to visit 3 places but worth noting that it’s pretty much a trip out to swim/float/paddle in 3 different places. Take a morning trip to be sure places aren’t too busy - they do fill up after lunch and then it isn’t very relaxing! Being on the boat is a great way to see Holbox from different viewpoints and it helps you to keep cool as you go too. There is a cafe/bar and restrooms/changing rooms at the Lagoon but nothing at Passion island or Bird Island. We went to Mosquito Point instead of Bird Island (due to too much wind for birds to be there) and we jumped into the very shallow sea and walked along the sandbanks. Like I say, a bargain price for a morning out but not much variation between the places.
