We zijn afstammelingen van de slaven die door de vroege Nederlandse kolonisten naar Bo-Kaap naar de Kaap zijn gebracht, en voelen ons verbonden met de rijke geschiedenis van het gebied. Het is deze diepe liefde die ons verlangen voedt om deze prachtige en ingewikkeld geweven cultuur met u te delen die overal in de wereld ongeëvenaard is. Als bewoners en gekwalificeerde gidsen met jarenlange ervaring, laten we je Bo-Kaap zien naast de ansichtkaartfoto's.

We ontmoeten elkaar op Wale Street 71 voor een introductie tot het gebied, met een overzicht van de geschiedenis van Kaapstad en Bo-Kaap.
Bo-Kaap is een mooie, schilderachtige en kleurrijke buitenwijk die aan de voet van Signal Hill in de City Bowl van Kaapstad ligt. De geschiedenis is echter doordrenkt van slavernij en het staat ook bekend als de 'geboorteplaats van de islam' in de Kaap. Tot slaaf gemaakte mensen, ambachtslieden en politieke ballingen werden hierheen gebracht uit onder andere Afrika, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesië en Maleisië.

Shamiela was absolutely amazing with sharing the history of Bo-Kaap. Her knowledge was an inspiration for me and my husband to be able see why it’s so important for us never to forget the past. Also gave us deep understanding about the culture, language and food of this area. We highly recommend this tour.

Ms. Shamila, my excellent tour guide, is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and through her storytelling, I learned a wealth of knowledge in a few hours' time. Learning about the origins of Bo-Kaap and experiencing its strong sense of community was truly admirable. Ms. Shamila reminded me that travel is truly the best education.
