We leren je zoveel mogelijk vanuit het perspectief van een local en nemen je mee naar de onzichtbare routes en steegjes van deze twee hoge metropolen. Be a local neemt je mee door de stad La Paz en verkent paden waar niet veel toeristen komen. Casco Viejo, in de oude binnenstad van La Paz, is een levendig plein omlijst door enkele van de belangrijkste politieke gebouwen van de stad.
Gunstig gelegen in het centrum van La Paz is een van de grootste en uniekst ontworpen voedselmarkten van de stad.
Een van de belangrijkste en historische bezienswaardigheden van La Paz is de San Francisco kerk (Iglesia de San Francisco), ook bekend als de San Francisco Basilica (Basílica de San Francisco).
"Heb je gedroogde lama foetussen?" "Wat dacht je van een spreuk om een vals liefhebber te straffen?" "Misschien iets om hoogteziekte dan te helpen?" Voor diegenen die lijden aan een kwaal, op zoek zijn naar rijkdom of op zoek zijn naar wraak op een partner die valsspeelt, is de Heksenmarkt van La Paz (Mercado de Hechecería of Mercado de las Brujas) de plaats voor een verscheidenheid aan drankjes, medicinale planten, spreuken en geestelijk advies.
Gelegen op slechts enkele meters afstand van het rustige Plaza San Pedro, ligt een van de meest beruchte en corrupte instellingen van het woord, San Pedro Prison. Wat San Pedro zo interessant maakt, zijn de omstandigheden waarin ongeveer 1500 van de meest geharde criminelen van Bolivia wonen. Een samenleving op zich, de gevangenis bevat winkels en restaurants die worden gerund door gevangenen, vrouwen en kinderen die vrijwillig met gevangengenomen familieleden wonen en ironisch genoeg, een aantal van de drukste cocaïne laboratoria in het land.
De verzorgde tuinen van de standbeelden, de parkbanken die langs de Midway lopen tussen het autoverkeer dat vanuit het centrum komt en rijden, waren best cool. El Prado wordt ook omringd door enorme kantoorgebouwen met veel restaurants.
Avenida Camacho: Een van de belangrijkste en meest traditionele straten van de stad La Paz, ligt in het centrum van de stad. De route begint aan het Obelisk-plein en eindigt bij de voormalige gemeentelijke dierentuin, ook bekend als Monkey Park. Deze straat is vernoemd naar de voormalige president van de republiek, Eliodoro Camacho.

The best walking tour I have ever done! Such interesting information with pictures and video’s shown as examples as well. Charlie explained everything very well and kept our attention the whole time. Visited both iconic places of La Paz as well as local spots I wouldve never found myself. Must do in La Paz!

Honestly was amazing. 10/10 would recommend. I was very lucky and no one had signed up so it was just me and the guide - Charlie. Charlie was unreal, he showed me his favourite empanada place when I said I was hungry and hungover, told me all these amazing stories and history while still keeping it interesting and engaging. Charlie definitely made the tour so ask for him if possible but still the walking tour really explains the amazing history of La Paz that you wouldn’t get if you didn’t search for it.

You walk almost all the important places of La Paz and its histories but the tour in some parts should be more interactive with the locals.

Charlie provided an informative and entertaining walking tour of La Paz that included many of the interesting locations in this unique and fascinating city.
