Om de toegangspoort te bereiken moet men een stenen trap beklimmen met 38 treden bewaakt door stenen beelden aan beide kanten, helemaal tot aan de poort. In tegenstelling tot andere Balinese tempels waar de ingang een gesplitste poort is, niet zo in Pura Kehen, die een grote driehoekige poort heeft die vergelijkbaar is met die van een berg, waar op Java een dergelijke vorm gunungan wordt genoemd (gunung betekent berg).
Besakih-tempel is een van de meest populaire bezienswaardigheden van Bali, geopend voor toeristen en het is de geweldige plek om te bezoeken tijdens uw vakantie op het eiland Bali. Deze hindoetempel die al meer dan 1000 jaar bekend staat als de moedertempel van Bali, ligt 1000 meter hoog op de zuidwestelijke hellingen van de berg Agung. Besakih is een artistiek en uniek complex dat ten minste 86 tempels omvat, waaronder de belangrijkste Pura Penataran Agung (de Grote Tempel van de Staat) en 18 andere. Besakih is de grootste en heiligste van de tempels van het eiland en wordt omringd door adembenemende en schilderachtige rijstvelden, heuvels, bergen, beekjes en meer.
Tirta Empul-tempel, wat betekent dat de bron van heilig water eigenlijk de naam is van een waterbron in de tempel. De lente voedt verschillende zuiveringsbaden, poelen en visvijvers rondom de buitenomtrek, die allemaal naar de Tukad Pakerisan-rivier stromen. Verschillende locaties in de regio en vele andere archeologische relikwieën hebben betrekking op lokale mythen en legendes. Zoals gebruikelijk bij Balinese tempels, heeft het Tirta Empul-tempelcomplex drie belangrijke afdelingen, namelijk een voorste, secundaire en binnenste binnenplaats.
Gunung Kawi Sebatu is een hindoeïstische watertempel gewijd aan Vishnu, van wie wordt gezegd dat hij regeert over water. Het terrein ligt in een duik in het land en is aan drie zijden omgeven door stenen muren en de vierde door een steile beboste helling. Het tempelcomplex is gebouwd op een natuurlijke bron, die een reeks vijvers en poelen voedt. Een combinatie van al het groen in combinatie met de waterpartijen geeft Gunung Kawi Sebatu een rustige en vredige sfeer. In feite is dit waarschijnlijk een van de mooiste tempels in Bali en het is zeer waarschijnlijk dat je de plek bijna voor jezelf hebt wanneer je bezoekt.
De Goa Gajah-tempel is een van de meest populaire bezienswaardigheden van Bali, het is een archeologische vindplaats met een aanzienlijke historische waarde die het een speciale plaats maakt om te bezoeken. Gelegen aan de koele westelijke rand van Bedulu Village, zes kilometer buiten het centrum van Ubud, heb je niet meer dan een uur nodig om af te dalen naar de met relikwieën gevulde binnenplaats en de rotswanden te bekijken, een centrale meditatiegrot, zwembaden en fonteinen. De naam van de tempel is enigszins misleidend en wekt de indruk dat het een gigantische woning vol olifanten is.

I had a nice day and saw many beautiful temples! The guide Nyoman told me about the history of the temples and gave me plenty of time everywhere. He is also a good driver!

We were picked up from Kuta which we were very grateful for as the tours were super far from our area and the other tours we were looking at did not offer us a pickup. At the first stop our driver Nyoman gave us a tour of a temple that had no other visitors and he was telling us how tours don’t usually come there because it’s a bit remote, after seeing how crowded the main temples were we realised how special that experience was. Nyoman is very knowledgeable, friendly, a good safe driver, speaks good English, took some lovely photos of us and made our day super enjoyable. Even just driving down the streets he was happy to answer our questions about culture, language, etc. He also was flexible enough to tailor our schedule to let us stay and explore the places we wanted to the most on the itinerary. If you are booking with this company request Nyoman, he is an absolute gem!

Our guide Made Wijaya was brilliant. Very kind and patience, he tooks hundreds of pictures of us, he is an excellent driver. Always prompt to satisfy our touristic needs. We had a nice lunch full of vegetarian options for us in a restaurant with a spectacular view on rice terrace. We truly reccomend Made Wijaya as a guide. Top

We visited some beautiful temples today. Due to restoration works, we were told early on by our driver Ketut that we would not be able to visit Kehen temple. He offered to take us to Ulu Petanu waterfall instead, which was lovely. We went to the Elephant Cave first, which was great as it was still early in the day and not busy. It’s a beautiful temple with an expansive piece of forest behind it which we enjoyed walking in. Besakih was next, and while the temple was gorgeous, especially with such great weather, we were accosted by touts demanding too much money for offerings and guides expecting hefty tips and donations. The setting was lovely, and there was a lot of preparation going on for the ceremony with lovely decorations and costumes, so that was fantastic to witness, just be alert when you visit here so you don’t fall foul, and don’t be afraid to say no. Tirta Empul was similarly undergoing preparations and was a hive of activity. If you plan to do the water purification ritual, we would actually recommend you wait, as it was very busy here and lines were long. You can do the ritual at the final stop in more tranquil settings and get a better experience. Ulu Petanu waterfall was a beautiful stop, and a much needed calming spot after two busier temples. We loved it. Gunung Kawi Sebatu was probably our favourite stop. It’s a lovely temple, very quiet and with a pond full of koi and ducks. As mentioned, we saw people having the water ritual here and it looked a far nicer experience than at Tirta Empul, so if you do this tour and want to do this, do it here if you like it quiet. Lunch at Tegallalang Rice Terrace was good, and afforded us some lovely views. It was a nice inclusion. Overall we had a great day, and Ketut was very friendly.

Our guide (Gusti) was super helpful and kind. We went to multiple temples throughout the day and Gusti explained in depth of the different practices, meaning and symbolism of each temple and god. He is also very good at taking photos for your group. I recommend on going on this tour with Gusti as your guide!!!

We had such a pleasant time on this tour. Putra was absolutely wonderful. He gave such insightful facts throughout the tour to help us understand where we were going and the overall culture of Bali a bit more. He made the day very memorable with his jokes.
