Tour begint bij Icharishahar metrostation, net door de oude stadsmuren van Bakoe. Van daaruit op weg naar het paleis van Shirvanshahs, wordt u geïnformeerd over de geschiedenis van moskeeën, karavanserfen, oude handelspleinen en oude stadsmuren.
Betreed het paleis van de Shirvanshah, het centrale deel van het oude koninkrijk Shirvanshah en duik in de geest van de islamitische beschaving terwijl je door de binnenplaats en de privékamers van de koning loopt. Samen met je gids maak je kennis met de geschiedenis van het paleis en bezoek je de zorgvuldig ontworpen mausoleums die de afgelopen twee eeuwen getuige zijn geweest van veel problemen. Daarna verken je ook de oude en controversiële heidense tempel naast de Maagdentoren en zie je oude heidense monumenten die in verschillende delen van Azerbeidzjan zijn ontdekt.
Bezoek het meest opmerkelijke en mysterieuze monument: de Maagdentoren, gebouwd in het zuidoostelijke deel van Icharishahar. Wees bereid om de toren van 8 verdiepingen te beklimmen en van je gids de theorieën en legendes erachter te horen. Geniet vanaf de top van de toren van het panoramische uitzicht over de stad Bakoe.
Na de Maagdentoren passeren we de moskeeën en badhuizen in de oude stad en leer je waarom een van de oudste nog bestaande moskeeën in de stad "Broken Fortress" wordt genoemd.

Absolutely amazing walking tour led by Riad. We were the only people on the tour so we were able to ask additional questions. Mirhashim was an excellent and highly knowledgeable person and we were lucky to have him as our Baku Old City Walking tour guide. Mirhashim contacted us the day before via WhatsApp, making sure we were aware of the meeting point and the location map was sent by him again. He came equipped with printed slides which he used to make the tour more visually interactive. His stories or rather recounting of moments in history was not only informative but accurate timeline historically. He used humour and knowledge to make the tour engrossing and interesting. End of the tour, he was kind enough to inform us of the possible scams or tourist traps we could encounter and how we should avoid them. He also gave us a list of recommendations for restaurants, pubs, coffee shops to visit. We did pick two of his recommended restaurants and they did hit the spot right. Thanks Mirhashim. All the best.
