We verkennen het historische hart van Bakoe tijdens een wandeltocht. We ontdekken iconische bezienswaardigheden die beginnen met wandelen vanaf het Fonteinplein en de UNESCO-werelderfgoedlocatie Icherisheher (oude stad) en vervolgens in de Istiglaliyyat-straat en terug naar het Fonteinplein. Thematisch verweven we ons in de rijke geschiedenis van de stad, van de middeleeuwse oorsprong tot de transformatie onder invloed van oliebaronnen in de late 19e en vroege 20e eeuw. We zullen leren en hebben nagedacht over begrip over de sociale, culturele en politieke aspecten van Bakoe's verleden en heden.

Fountains Square is het centrum, entertainment- en recreatiecentrum in Baku. Deze wijk is echter tijdens het eerste tijdperk van de oliesector, eind XIX en begin XX eeuw, de belangrijkste handelsstraat van Boom Town geworden. Dit is waar we elkaar ontmoeten en de tour beëindigen.
Bekend als Icherisheher, de oude binnenstad van Bakuis een UNESCO World Heritage site. We zullen wandelen en stoppen om uitleg te geven zonder de bezienswaardigheden (Musea van Shirvanshahs Palace en Maiden Tower, Miniatuur Boek Museum Mohammed Moskee en meer) met historische foto's te betreden.
Vroeger Nikolajevskaja en Kommunisticheskaja, de Istiglaliyyat Straat was een van de belangrijkste straten van de Keizerlijke Russische tijd Bakoe. Hier verkennen we de stedelijke transformatie die oliebaronnen brachten en hun zoektocht naar persoonlijke glorie en roem. De attracties die langs Istiglaliyyat straat worden behandeld zijn: Gouverneurstuin, stadhuis, Filharmonische Zaal, Paleis van Geluk, Instituut van Manuscripten van Azerbeidzjan, Ismaliyya Paleis (Moslim Charitatieve Vereniging), Literatuurmuseum en het standbeeld van Nizami.
Dit is waar een van de evironment gebouwd tijdens Bakoe's uitbreiding voorbij de fortenmuur. Het verhaal van de tuin wordt gekoppeld aan een boek getiteld Ali en Nino.
Bakoe Town Hall is een van de monumentale architectonische bezienswaardigheden uit Oil Boom Era. Het maakt het mogelijk om architectonische invloeden uit Europa te begrijpen en de impact die kosmopolitische en diverse groepen mensen op Bakoe hadden.
Dit is een verhaal over een oliebaron en zijn vrouw wiens liefdesverhaal wordt verteld wanneer mensen trouwen in hun herenhuis dat vandaag de dag dient als huwelijksregister.
Dit is een verhaal over de eerste seculiere school voor moslimvrouwen en het moderniseringsproces in Bakoe en uiteindelijk de eerste onafhankelijkheid van Azerbeidzjan.
Dit is een verhaal van een oliebaron die een paleis in gebruik neemt ter nagedachtenis van zijn zoon dat een belangrijk architectonisch monument wordt ontworpen in Venetiaanse gotische stijl.

Gani was a great guide to a city with many histories.
Beware of booking same day. Though it shows available they still may cancel on you... Not sure why they just don't update their time in advance needed for booking, that would solve this issue
Ali provided the best tour I have ever experienced with Viator. He is extremely knowledgeable, extremely personable and the way he delivers all the information he is providing is so conversational! Gani was great. He is obviously very knowledgeable about Baku and Azerbaijan’s history. We enjoyed the tour very much and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Baku.
We did the walking tour and the half day trip to the mud volcanoes with Gani and Eldar. We thoroughly enjoyed both and would highly recommend. We enjoyed the sites but also the discussion with Gani and Eldar about geo politics. They are both very well informed and happy to talk about local politics.
We recently enjoyed a wonderful walking tour of Baku old city. Our guide, Gani, really brought the tour to life with his fantastic historical perspective and deep knowledge of Baku and Azerbaijan. This tour is a superb introduction to Baku and every visitor should aim to do this tour first thing when they arrive in the city - it provides an excellent overview of the key sights to visit and provides immediate orientation around the maze of streets and alleyways in the old city.
The guide has told us a lot of interesting stories about Baku,the tour was a perfect way to get to know the city. After the tour guide provided us with some useful recommendations about food,Azerbaijani phrases and things to see next
Fantastic tour, highly recommended. We had Gani as our tour guide, he was very knowledgeable and conducted the tour at a perfect pace. Even though we thought we had seen most of this area of Baku we found a few hidden gems and it was really interesting to hear the history of this part of Baku. I really enjoyed seeing some old photos of the city to see how it had developed so quickly at certain points in history. If you're visiting I would definitely say this is a very worthwhile tour.
