De eerste stop op hun reis was zwemmen in het ondiepe en kristalheldere water van Bacalar.
Vervolgens begaven ze zich naar het Piratenkanaal, waar ze de boeiende verhalen van piraten en hun schat leerden kennen. Ze waren geïntrigeerd door de verhalen over hoe deze piraten door de wateren zwierven en tegen elkaar vochten om de rijkdommen van het gebied op te eisen.
Naarmate de dag vorderde, besloten ze een pauze te nemen en te ontspannen op Isla Pajaros. De rust van het eiland was een welkome afwisseling van de drukte van hun reizen. Ze zaten aan het water en ademden de rust in die hen omringde, terwijl ze de schoonheid van het landschap in zich opnamen.
Hun laatste stop van de dag was bij het San Felipe Fort, waar ze meer te weten kwamen over de rijke geschiedenis van de stad. Het fort werd gebouwd in de 18e eeuw om de stad te beschermen tegen piraten en was een belangrijke locatie in vele historische veldslagen.

Deze tour werkt alleen vanuit het Riviera Maya-gebied. (Vanaf Generations hotel, richting Sirenis hotel). We bezoeken geen boetiekadressen, hotels, motels, hostels, airbnbs en moeilijk bereikbare plekken zoals het centrum van Playa del Carmen, Tulum City, enz. While the journey there is long, the experience makes up for it. Tomás was friendly and punctual. Our boat capitan, Andres, taught us alot about the area and made the excursion fun.

Busy town right near the beach . A car is not necessary because everything is walking distance ,restaurants,bars,clubs and shopping . Taxis are bountiful . Going again in 2 weeks .

Awesome tour. This is far the best activity i have taken from Riviera Maya. The lagoon was superb, i wasn´t expecting any snacks but we were served fruit and hand made juices. The food was great.

I can only recommend this excursion to everyone. Bacalar is a splendid place but it is not nearby which is why it is easier to go with a guide. And I really don't regret it, the guide gave us information about the nature and landscapes of the Yucatan and some towns that we passed through on the way. Finally arrived, we took a small boat to go around the lagoon. We visited several cenotes, having information at each place on nature + historical explanations on maritime trade, the Mayan way of living and working. It was super interesting to learn so much while crossing and discovering these absolutely magnificent landscapes. The demarcation of the different colors of the water is unmistakable and simply magical. We stopped for swimming at different places including the Pirate Channel and Bird Island. White sand and crystal clear, refreshing water. Perfect for relaxing. We were also able to see many animals such as storks and cormorants! Once finished we ate shrimp ceviche and skewers with guacamole, rice, beans; it was really good. Finally, we went to the center of Bacalar where we visited a fort and its small museum, the view of the lagoon is breathtaking from the ramparts! This day was complete, the places wonderful and the information given very enriching. I really liked this day, the Bacalar lagoon is really worth seeing and exploring!
