Deze kleine groepstour laat u kennismaken met de meest authentieke plaatsen om de spiritualiteit van Sint Franciscus van Assisi te voelen. Vanwege de tentoonstelling van de overblijfselen van Sint Franciscus worden rondleidingen door de basiliek opgeschort van 15 februari 2026 tot 6 april 2026. De Gids geeft uitleg van buitenaf, waarna bezoekers zelfstandig naar binnen kunnen.

De basiliek van Sint Franciscus van Assisi is de moederkerk van de rooms-katholieke orde van minderbroeders in Assisi, een stad in de regio Umbrië in Midden-Italië, waar Sint Franciscus werd geboren en stierf
Deze lichte en ruime basiliek bestaat uit een enkel vierbeukig schip met een kruisgewelf plafond dat is afgegrensd met patronen van kruisen en bladeren, een dwarsschip en een veelhoekige apsis. De vier geribbelde gewelven zijn afwisselend versierd met gouden sterren op een blauwe achtergrond en schilderijen.
De tempel van Minerva is een oud Romeins gebouw. Het herbergt momenteel een kerk, Santa Maria sopra Minerva, gebouwd in 1539 en gerenoveerd in barokstijl in de 17e eeuw. De tempel werd gebouwd in de 1e eeuw naar de wil van Gnaeus Caesius en Titus Caesius Priscus, die twee van de quattuorviri van de stad waren en ook de bouw financierden.
Gebouwd in 1615 op de overblijfselen van een gebouw dat vermoedelijk het huis van St. Franciscus was. Het architectuurontwerp van het gebouw stamt uit de Renaissance. De façade, opgetrokken uit baksteen, is verdeeld in vier pilaren die een Dorisch hoofdgestel ondersteunen, met een zoldergeveltop, waarboven een halfronde koepel oprijst.
De Basiliek van Sint-Clara is een kerk die is gewijd aan en bevat de overblijfselen van Sint-Clara van Assisi, een volgeling van Sint-Franciscus van Assisi en oprichter van de Orde van Arme Vrouwen, tegenwoordig bekend als de Orde van Sint-Clara.
Het ligt op 4 km afstand van het centrum van Assisi. Het witte gebouw ligt genesteld in een rustige laan omringd door bergen. Dit is de hermitage van de Carceri waar St. Franciscus en zijn volgelingen aan het bidden en mediteren waren. "Eremo" betekent hermitage in het Italiaans
San Damiano is een kerk met een klooster in de buurt van Assisi, Italië. Het werd gebouwd in de 12e eeuw en was het eerste klooster van de Orde van Sint-Clara, waar Saint Clare haar gemeenschap bouwde.
Gebouwd op een grandioze schaal, de Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli is de zevende grootste christelijke kerk. De pracht en praal staat op gespannen voet met de eenvoud die door Franciscus zelf werd gepredikt, maar de kuddes pelgrims die de primitieve Porziuncola-kapel bezochten en de Cappella del Transito, vroegen om een gebouw dat de gelovigen kon ontvangen.

This was an excellent day tour, highlighting the life of Saint Francis around Assisi, from his initial days, through his teaching and to his death. While the sites within Assisi were amazing, those outside the town were maybe even more impressive, because they reflected his deeper personality. The Hermitage was particularly moving. Our guide Michaele was knowledgeable, and he took care to tailor the tour to our own interests. AA++ day.

We had a great experience on the all day tour. Great way to see and learn about this beautiful city. Our tour guide - Marica- was amazing. She brought history alive - especially St Francis and St Clare .we recommend without hesitation.
Wonderful visit divided into two half days. on 31 afternoon the Basilica of the Saint and the next morning S. Maria degli Angeli, Porziuncola, S. Rufino and walk along Assisi to the Basilica of the Spoliazione with a visit to the burial of Carlo Acutis. Our guide was Mrs. Myriam whom I thank sincerely for expertise, preparation and affability

We loved learning about St. Francis and St. Clare and seeing the beautiful city, art, and countryside. Our tour guide, Mikelle, was so knowledgeable and insightful. This was our best Italian excursion.

The entire trip was so deeply touching. It was a journey through Saint Francis's life and conversion. It also included a side trip to visit Blessed Carlos Acutis. My wife and I are believers with and affinity for Saint Francis. This was the main focus of our trip to Italy. Our wonderful guide, Alexandra made this so much more impactful. In addition, her knowledge of local customs, culture, and history contributed greatly to our wonderful experience in Assisi. It added much depth and understanding. We felt so welcomed. Must-see, the Porziuncola, Santa Chiara, the Basilica of San Francesco, the woods of San Francesco, we shot little because it was raining and we entered late, next time I hope to do it all but maybe in spring summer. Assisi is all beautiful there is nothing to say, the houses, the cleanliness of the city, while the character of the people....🤔 not really nice.
