Dit is een Assisi tour met je privé Gids. Ontdek de beroemde monumenten van Assisi tijdens een privéwandeling en wandel door steegjes naar de typische pleinen van de oude binnenstad. Bekijk Romeinse ruïnes, oude stenen huizen en prachtige fresco's. Vanwege de tentoonstelling van de overblijfselen van Sint Franciscus worden rondleidingen door de basiliek opgeschort van 15 februari 2026 tot 6 april 2026. De Gids geeft uitleg van buitenaf, waarna bezoekers zelfstandig naar binnen kunnen.

De Basiliek van Sint-Clara is een kerk die is gewijd aan en bevat de overblijfselen van Sint-Clara van Assisi, een volgeling van Sint-Franciscus van Assisi en oprichter van de Orde van Arme Vrouwen, tegenwoordig bekend als de Orde van Sint-Clara.
Gebouwd in 1615 op de overblijfselen van een gebouw dat vermoedelijk het huis van St. Franciscus was. Het architectuurontwerp van het gebouw stamt uit de Renaissance. De façade, opgetrokken uit baksteen, is verdeeld in vier pilaren die een Dorisch hoofdgestel ondersteunen, met een zoldergeveltop, waarboven een halfronde koepel oprijst.
Gelegen op de plaats waar het oude Forum Romanum stond, gedomineerd door de imposante Rocca Maggiore, begint het rechthoekige plein aan het einde van de Corso Mazzini die het verbindt met de basiliek van Santa Chiara. Direct aan de rechterkant kunt u de zestiende-eeuwse "fontein van de drie leeuwen" bewonderen, in 1762 opnieuw bezocht door Giovanni Martinucci.
De tempel van Minerva is een oud Romeins gebouw. Het herbergt momenteel een kerk, Santa Maria sopra Minerva, gebouwd in 1539 en gerenoveerd in barokstijl in de 17e eeuw. De tempel werd gebouwd in de 1e eeuw naar de wil van Gnaeus Caesius en Titus Caesius Priscus, die twee van de quattuorviri van de stad waren en ook de bouw financierden.
De basiliek van Sint Franciscus van Assisi is de moederkerk van de rooms-katholieke orde van minderbroeders in Assisi, een stad in de regio Umbrië in Midden-Italië, waar Sint Franciscus werd geboren en stierf
Deze lichte en ruime basiliek bestaat uit een enkel vierbeukig schip met een kruisgewelf plafond dat is afgegrensd met patronen van kruisen en bladeren, een dwarsschip en een veelhoekige apsis. De vier geribbelde gewelven zijn afwisselend versierd met gouden sterren op een blauwe achtergrond en schilderijen.

- Op zondagen, grote katholieke feestdagen, nationale feestdagen en op 3 en 4 oktober zijn rondleidingen in de Sint-Franciscusbasiliek niet toegestaan. Op deze data geeft uw Gids uitleg van buiten de kerk, waarna u zelfstandig en in stilte naar binnen gaat.
- Op 4 oktober is de Basiliek van Sint Franciscus gesloten voor bezoekers.
