Nicaragua staat bekend als het land van meren en vulkanen. Het heeft twee enorme waterlichamen en meer dan 10 actieve vulkanen die deel uitmaken van de Pacific Ring of Fire. In deze dagtour bezoekt u drie van deze kolossale vulkanen: Masaya-vulkaan (Volcán Masaya): gerangschikt als een van de meest actieve ter wereld. Lagune van Apoyo (Laguna de Apoyo): het is een uitgedoofde krater van de vulkaan, met een prachtige lagune. Het nevelwoud van deze kolossale en verbluffende vulkaan biedt een indrukwekkend panoramisch uitzicht en het is ook de thuisbasis van honderden orchideeën. Mombacho vulkaan is een actieve andesitische en basaltische stratovulkaan gelegen op ongeveer 10 km ten zuiden van de stad Granada, ten westen van het Meer van Nicaragua en een paar kilometer ten zuiden van Laguna Apoyo. Een mogelijke historische uitbarsting vond plaats in 1570, toen een puinlawine een dorp aan de zuidkant van de vulkaan Mombacho verwoestte. Er zijn meldingen van een explosie, maar er is geen geaccepteerd bewijs dat er een uitbarsting heeft plaatsgevonden. De huidige activiteit bestaat uit fumaroles en warmwaterbronnen binnen de 2 instortingsschansen en op de bovenste noordelijke flank. Stratovulkaan 1344 m – 4,409 ft / Nicaragua, 11,83°N – 85,97°W / Huidige status : normaal of slapend.
Welke volgorde je ook kiest, de tour omvat ook tijd om te ontspannen bij Apoyo Lagoon, een sereen vulkanisch kratermeer omgeven door weelderig groen en kristalhelder water. Met een dagpas geniet je van zwemmen, kajakken en toegang tot comfortabele faciliteiten, waardoor het de perfecte plek is om te ontspannen na je vulkaanavonturen.
Gerangschikt als een van de meest actieve ter wereld. De Masaya-vulkaan, 25 km ten zuidoosten van Managua, is een van de meest actieve vulkanen van Nicaragua. In tegenstelling tot de meeste andere vulkanen in subductiezones barst er vooral vloeibare basaltlava uit. Ten tijde van de Spaanse veroveraars bevatte het een actief lavameer en naar verluidt waren er pogingen om het gesmolten ‘goud’ uit de vulkaan te extraheren. Masaya is een complex dat bestaat uit een 6 x 11,5 km grote caldera met steile, tot 300 m hoge muren, en een groep jonge kegels aan de NW-kant, waaronder de Nindirí en de eigenlijke Masaya-vulkaan. My family and I joined Moises on a guided tour of Mombacho Volcano. Moises made the trip fun and informative and the views were spectacular. After hiking we took a short break and continued on to the zip lines, where we saw a sloth hanging out in the canopy above us. Moises and his team were awesome! Thank you Next Adventure Nicaragua!

The tour was amazing! The visit to the Miravalle coffee farm very interesting and the walk by the Mombacho volcano (tigrillo route) beautiful! It is very worth it, I recommend it and more with Moises coml guia (the best!!!)

Our group of 6 friends and family had an incredible time hiking the Crater Trail and I guide was extremely fun, friendly and knowledgeable. After enjoying the incredible views from the Crater Trail, our guide found a sloth sleeping in a tree nearby and called us over. The guides are very invested in making sure you get the most out of your tour. We followed that with the zip line circuit and our guides made us feel incredibly safe and well cared for. They were clearly knowledgeable and well trained for safety and their equipment was top of the line. One of them even took amazing photos and videos of our whole group. When we returned we enjoyed the most incredible iced coffee drinks and watched the sunset from the plantation. Outstanding service and incredible experience. 10 out of 10 for sure. :)

Great day with our Moises guide! Everything was well organized from start to finish according to our requests! We started with the puma trail at the Mombacho volcano, a demanding trail and that is why the service of a guide is necessary especially for safety, as well as to be able to learn and have all the relevant information about the fauna, flora and activities of the volcano! We did two tours and an airport transfer with Next Adventure and all services were so great! My husband and I didn’t pre plan anything so it was very last minute and Alfredo was able to accommodate us very easily. The experience was great from start to finish. Very easy to book the trip. The guide offers pick both ways and the company is very responsive via What's App. Ziplining was fun and easy, and we saw howler monkies along the way! When our tour ended a little early, I messaged the company the the driver was right there. The guide was extremely knowledgeable about the fauna and flora of mombacho, and taught us a lot. Very nice. Had a great time overall and would highly recommend.

We booked a hike in the Mombacho cloud forest by emailing Next Adventure Nicaragua. We loved it! When we started the hike, it was very cloudy with no views, but we were expecting that, and loved the eerie feeling. By the end it had cleared up revealing gorgeous views of the lakes and islands. The driver was outside our hotel at 8am ready to take us to the reserve. Great communication between the taxi driver, guides, and truck driver in the reserve. Could definitely get by with little spanish. Our guide was super knowledgable and passionate and added a lot to our hike. Easy payment online before the hike. We added zip lining on at the park last minute and paid that at the park. Totally recommend booking with next adventure - they take care of it all.

My guided hike up Puma trail Mombacho Volcano was an amazing experience. It was a challenging hike at times but worth every step. The views were stunning even despite being covered with clouds, the forest is beautiful and lively and the guide was patient and nice. He was also very knowledgeable about nature and his country’s history. Highly recommend!

My friend and I just went on a full day tour to Apoyo Lagoon Lookout, Masaya, and Mombacho Volcanoes with Julio Flores as our guide. Julio is probably the best tour guide I've ever had. He was early to pick us up, spoke perfect english, was extremely knowledgeable, answered every question we had, took us to an extra place we requested, knew where to find specific food and souvenirs, and most importantly was just so nice and fun to tour with which made this tour a great experience. This is also a well planned package that let's you see several amazing places in one day and is well coordinated with local parks and tour operators. I highly recommend this tour, and Julio as a guide for any tour in Nicaragua.
