We booked a horseback riding tour with Andes EcoTours Colombia for our first-ever horse ride, and I'm so glad we did. Going into it, I was nervous about how it would go, but Diego, our tour guide, went way above and beyond. He was patient, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure we felt comfortable and safe the whole time. The mountain scenery was beautiful, and the pace was perfect for beginners. Hector, our driver, was professional and friendly throughout. The whole team made what could have been a pretty intimidating experience into something really memorable and enjoyable. Even though there were some scary moments early on, by the end we felt confident and had a blast. If you're on the fence about doing a horseback tour in Colombia, especially as a first-timer, I'd highly recommend Andes EcoTours Colombia.

It is a simple and delightful plan at the same time; I am not very familiar with horses, so it was like discovering the magic of the peace they transmit with an excellent guide and in a beautiful landscape on a day that, although the weather wasn't spring-like, made the experience more interesting. I would repeat it, so I recommend it.

This horseback riding tour was hands down one of the highlights of our entire South American trip. In Europe, trail rides are often strictly regulated—if you aren't an experienced rider, guides usually hold your horse on a lead or keep the horses tied together. Here, everyone rode freely. They gave us a quick intro on the basics of controlling the horse, and that was it. The horses were extremely well-trained and calm, yet responsive. I had read in previous reviews that the horses walked very slowly, but that definitely wasn't our experience! We actually got to canter, which our kids absolutely loved—the sheer joy on their faces throughout the ride was priceless. After a scenic 40-minute ride uphill, we reached a breathtaking viewpoint near the town of La Calera. We took plenty of pictures while our guide shared fascinating facts about the surrounding Andes, the local drinking water reservoir, and the unique Páramo ecosystem. On the way back down, we maintained a relaxed pace, but the horses were still eager to run a bit, so we enjoyed a few more fun canters. If you are near Bogotá, don't miss this—it is an incredible, liberating experience for the whole family!

This experience was so much fun and well organized. We were picked up directly from our hotel by Gabriela, who provided all kinds of fascinating conversations about Colombia and Bogota on the way to the horses. Riding the horses was such an easy experience as the horses are well trained and work well together in a group. At the top of the hike, the views were breathtaking and Gabriela told us about the history of La Calera, the forest, and the reservoir. Afterwards, we rode back down the trail and finished with a warm tasty sugar drink. On the way back, Gabriela provided us with amazing recommendations to experience the best of Bogota before dropping us back to our hotel. This trip is perfect for anyone looking for an organized excursion to get some scenic views and experience the thrill of horseback riding in the Andes. Such incredibly well behaved horses and a wonderful guide who did an excellent job of sharing some local history of the area with us. Big fan of the tea at the end!

Never been on a horse before , it was easy enough the horses were really easy going. It was a bit dull, the horses walk really slow, faster than walking yourself for sure, but it was about 45 mins riding up hill , then it was a stunning view at the top, was there for about 10 mins hear some facts about Colombia water etc. then ride back to the bottom of the hill. Not sure the horses are living their best life. Horse welfare is definitely different to European standards - they were tied to eachothers tails which was a bit odd!

I am not a horse person, I’ve only sat on one for 10 mins before this, but these horses were really easy and well behaved, the view at the top was great!

So much fun! Gabby our tour guide was fantastic, very friendly and knowledgable. The horses were well behaved and it was a great way to see a little of the countryside.

This was such a fun activity. Our tour guide, Gabi, was so nice and did a great job explaining the scenery along the ride. It felt like a bucket list activity and I would recommend it to everyone.
