We nodigen je uit om met ons mee te gaan op een reis terug in de tijd door Ancient Rio en Santa Teresa! Laten we het historische centrum van Rio bezoeken en naar de Mosteiro de São Bento gaan, door de Praça XV, Arcos dos Teles, Cinelandia lopen (en van de gelegenheid gebruik maken om de bakkerij van Colombo te bezoeken) en de Arcos da Lapa. We bezoeken ook de landelijke wijk Santa Teresa met de prachtige huizen uit het begin van de 20e eeuw. Santa Teresa staat bekend om zijn traditionele tram uit 1897 en omdat het het nest is van verschillende schilders die hun huizen openen zodat u hun werk kunt controleren.

Het Parque das Ruínas was vroeger de thuisbasis van een vooraanstaande vrouwelijke kunstliefhebber, Laurinda Santos Lobo, en is nu een cultureel centrum dat haar erfenis van het ondersteunen van kunstenaars overal behoudt.

Ontworpen in 1908 door architect Adolfo Morales de los Rios om de National School of Fine Arts, erfgenaam van de Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, te huisvesten, werd dit gebouw gebouwd tijdens de stedelijke modernisering uitgevoerd door burgemeester Pereira Passos in de toenmalige federale hoofdstad. Theatro Municipal heeft internationale artiesten en belangrijke namen uit de Braziliaanse cultuur getrokken, waaronder dansers, muzikanten, operazangers en uitvoerende artiesten. Sinds de jaren dertig heeft de Theatro Municipal van Rio de Janeiro zijn artistieke onafhankelijkheid behouden en is het de enige Braziliaanse instelling met een eigen koor, een symfonieorkest en een balletgezelschap. We gaan niet naar binnen, maar nemen de tijd om te genieten van de architectonische aspecten van dit gebouw.
De grootste bibliotheek van Latijns-Amerika werd in 1810 opgericht door D. João VI, de koning van Portugal. Het is een imponerend gebouw met een archief van bijna 9 miljoen items in het centrum van Rio met zeldzame boeken, manuscripten, originele brieven geschreven door prinses Isabel, de eerste kranten die in het land zijn gedrukt, en twee exemplaren van de kostbare Mainz Psalterbijbel, gedrukt in 1492. We gaan niet naar binnen, maar we nemen de tijd om te genieten van de architectonische aspecten van dit gebouw.

This your was very informative and just a good way to learn about Rio. A must do tour. I have been to Rio many times and had never seen some of the places on this tour. Monica really knows her history.
Monica is the best guide in all of Brazil, Santa Teresa is truly special, we visited the historic center and Monica had photos to show us the evolution, she explained every single detail to us, giving us something extra to everything we saw. Very kind, she accommodated us in everything, took us to sip the historic coffee of Brazil, she took a thousand photos of us and left us some free time! Lucky is the one who happens to spend hours with her! Thanks, truly wonderful
We spent a wonderful half-day with Monica. She accompanied us through historic Rio and the Santa Teresa neighborhood, telling us about and showing us curiosities and details... making us appreciate this city not only for the famous and imposing Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain but also for its baroque, bohemian, and even slightly European glimpses... impeccable organization... hours of culture and joy...

We visited Santa Teresa and the historic center of Rio with Monica and it was a fantastic experience. She speaks perfect Italian and English and is a very well-prepared, nice, and very helpful guide. She accompanied us through Santa Teresa and the Selarón Steps with a small tour within the tour among murals and alleys with old houses, the Real Gabinete Português de Leitura, and the historic Café Colombo, also helping us discover a typical bakery with excellent pão de queijo. Thanks to her explanations and her advice, we got to know an authentic Rio. We highly recommend her to anyone who wants to visit the city with a professional and passionate guide.
