Sla het vastgelopen stadsverkeer en de drukke tourbussen over. Op slechts 40 minuten van de beroemde stranden van Rio ligt een beschermde UNESCO Werelderfgoed wildernis waar de dichte jungle bladerdak blokkeert de chaos van de stad. Dit is een snelle, kleine groepsreis die is ontworpen om u Rio's wilde kant te laten zien zonder de drukte. - Ervaar ruwe kracht : Sta aan de voet van Cascatinha Taunay - een brullende 115 - voet waterval en de hoogste waterval in het park (niet zwemmen toegestaan). - Verken een Nationaal Record : Waag je in de historische Bat Grotto, de grootste gneiss grotformatie in Brazilië. - Ansichtkaart uitzicht zonder drukte - Krijg een prachtig, frame-perfect uitzicht op Christus de Verlosser, Sugarloaf Mountain, Copacabana, Ipanema & Rio skyline. - Geen ervaring nodig : wandel 2-3 km op veilige, schaduwrijke paden in een comfortabel, ontspannen groepstempo, geschikt voor de meeste fitnessniveaus. - Inclusief retourtransfer in een comfortabel AC-voertuig. Onze eerste bestemming is Mirante das Canoas, een prachtig uitkijkpunt met uitzicht op de bergen Pedra da Gavea en Pedra Bonita, evenals de wijk Sao Conrado. Na een korte stop gaan we rechtstreeks naar Tijuca Park, op slechts 15 minuten afstand.
*Houd er rekening mee dat het reisschema en de tijden kunnen veranderen afhankelijk van de beperkingen van het park, de gekozen touroptie, weersomstandigheden en andere factoren. Wees getuige van de ontzagwekkende Taunay-waterval, de hoogste in Rio, die van grote hoogte naar beneden stort en zorgt voor een serene sfeer in het hart van het regenwoud.
Onze volgende stop is Cachoeira das Almas — een wandeling van 30 tot 40 minuten door het hart van het regenwoud van Tijuca. Als je dieper de jungle inloopt, sluit het bladerdak zich boven je, en filtert zonlicht in gouden schachten over de bosbodem. Luister naar toekans boven je hoofd, kijk uit voor luiaards in de bomen en kijk uit voor kapucijnaapjes die door de takken schieten. Het terrein is zacht, kronkelend door het oude Atlantische regenwoud waar de lucht dik is van vochtigheid en vogelgezang — en het verre geluid van stromend water wordt luider met elke stap. Dan openbaart zich de waterval : kristalheldere bergwaterval, omgeven door weelderige vegetatie en absolute rust. Stap in en laat het regenwoud de rest doen. Afhankelijk van het seizoen kunnen we Cachoeira Diamantina bezoeken — even prachtig, even onvergetelijk.
Dit is een van de eerste grotten op het grottencircuit in het Tijuca Nationaal Park.

The guide Victor was very knowledgeable and attentive. He made sure he communicated with all members on the home . We got a pretty good idea of the Tijuca Forest and its vastness . The vegetation. We were lucky to see a sloth and a monkey . The hike to a cave was great and impressive. It was a quick paced3hours but very enjoyable.

Two hours of the Tijuca Forest hiking was gruelling for a late 50’s old woman like me😂 but I enjoyed it so much that I would not hesitate doing it again. It was my first time doing this and honestly, I almost gave up during the second phase of the mountain climb but thanks to Victor our lovely Tour Guide who made the hike so enjoyable & seemingly effortless. He was so friendly, extremely helpful, polite and more importantly, very knowledgeable about the Tijuca Forest. A huge thanks to the professional Tour Driver as well who drove us (myself, my two children & the other tourists on the tour van) safely to the top of the scary mountain😀 for the Forest hike and likewise made sure we were safely back down the daunting mountain. Much appreciation to all the Itaway Tours staff who did a great job by making sure that the hike was an unforgettable positive experience for my children and I. Communications to me from the Tour Company prior to the hike was outstanding. Constantly kept me informed about our hike even before we left our country for Brazil, a few days before the day of the hike when we arrived in Rio de Janeiro and on the actual hike day. The slight negative part of this tour was that at the ‘last minute’, the Tour Company did not fulfil their responsibility of picking my children and I up at our Hotel and dropping us off back there after the tedious hike we had had even though this service was included in my payment. Well despite this letdown, I would not hesitate booking other activities or even the Forest hike again with Itaway Tours if I should visit amazing Rio de Janeiro- Brazil again. Thanks Team!!

One of the best hiking experience we’ve had. My wife described the forest as the most beautiful forests she has been to ..The plush tropical vegetation as well as the birds and even slots! were great. Our guide, Eric, was very knowledgeable, giving us a nice introduction to different details of the forest, caves, and waterfalls. Even brewed some coffee for us! Highly recommended.

An excellent tour from start to finish, very well organized and totally enjoyable. During the tour I would have liked to see a little more wildlife, although I perfectly understand that that is out of the guides' reach and depends on nature. Wonderful trip! It was our first full day in Rio and Lucas did such a great job taking us around the park. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the park and the animals in it on top of being a phenomenal photographer. We saw plenty of wildlife on the tour, including a sloth, a toucan (from a distance), a monkey, and a coati. While the forest was lively, I am not entirely sure the noises we heard were actually birds or Lucas’ fantastic imitations as he tried to draw them out. It was winter so we didn’t see the waterfalls in their full glory, but they were still impressive and getting to stand under one was quite refreshing. We ended the day at the Chinese Viewpoint and got to see a beautiful view of the city. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in experiencing the wildlife around Rio.
