Dit is een dag van ontdekking en geschiedenis! Onze route volgt minder bereisde paden, waardoor u een scherp beeld krijgt van het verleden en heden van Portugal. We reizen naar de stad Silves. Hier is er tijd om de indrukwekkende kathedraal te bezoeken en door de smalle straatjes te dwalen (entreegelden niet inbegrepen). Vanaf hier vervolgen we onze klim naar de Monchique-berg. We bezoeken het charmante kleine kuuroord Caldas de Monchique, met bronnen met bewezen geneeskrachtige eigenschappen. Als we de bochtige weg volgen, bereiken we het hoogste punt in de Algarve - Fóia - op 902 meter boven de zeespiegel. Vervolgens bergafwaarts vanaf Fóia, door het platteland en stoppend in het kleine dorpje Marmelete, waar je tijd hebt om te lunchen in een van de lokale restaurants (inbegrepen). Na de lunch gaan we rechtstreeks naar Costa Vicentina, om enkele prachtige stranden te bezoeken. Dan gaat het verder naar het 'einde van de wereld' - Kaap St. Vincent. Doortocht door Sagres, een typisch vissersdorpje en zijn beschutte vissershaven.

Bezoek het kasteel dat dateert uit deze periode en biedt een prachtig uitzicht over het omliggende platteland.
We vervolgen onze klim naar het Monchique-gebergte, een oase van groene golvende heuvels, majestueuze kurkbomen en scherpe eucalyptusboomgaarden.
Staand op 902m boven zeeniveau. De uitzichten hier zijn dramatisch en de lucht ongelooflijk puur.
Bezoek enkele prachtige stranden waar u wat tijd kunt hebben om rond te lopen, neem een aantal uitstekende foto's, ontspan en geniet van het uitzicht.
Dan is het op naar het ‘einde van de wereld’ - de stad Sagres - beroemd huis van de Navigatieschool van Prins Henry. Op Cape St. Vincent (het meest zuidwestelijke punt van Europa) zit een kleine vuurtoren bovenop de kliffen en trotseert de elementen. Adem de verkwikkende zeelucht in en bewonder de uitgestrektheid van het landschap.

What an amazing day! This tour took us from the mountain tops in the Monchique Mountains to the most southwestern part of Europe in Sagres and Cabo De San Vicente. Along the way, we stopped and had an absolutely fabulous lunch at the Restaurante O’Castelo. Muito delicioso!! The views along the way were breathtaking and the beaches spectacular. It was a full day, but we saw and learned much about the history and culture of the Algarve. I cannot say enough about Ricardo, our guide. He was amazing. 5-stars plus!! He treated us like we were VIP’s. Ricardo, a native of the Algarve, gave us an in-depth narrative on the history of the area along with a unique perspective of its culture. This made the day even more special for us. An outstanding day!!

The tour guide was very knowledgable about the area and we enjoyed his time with us but our group was picked up a bit late and returned at 1:30 pm instead of 3pm. We were supposed to go for a tour of a sardine museum but this didn’t happen.
Very interesting ride, Pieter as a tour guide was very informative and answered many questions. Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
