Most definitely worth it. The kids loved it. We didn’t get to see any animals but it was pretty cool knowing we were snowmobiling across frozen lakes.
This excursion was so worth it, especially for beginners and children. Maple was our activity guide and was the nicest guy. Not a big snow fan but if I ever visited again, I would book the same activity!
TL;DR: Do not book here. A minor $50 repair turned into a $2,200 extortion attempt with police threats and aggressive 30 minute ultimatums. Had I not used my engineering knowledge and investigated their claims thoroughly, I would have been out thousands of dollars. They attempted to charge for 7 days of "downtime" for a sled that wasn't even in the shop and tried to double-bill me for parts. Only after I audited their fraudulent invoice did they settle for a fair price. The Experience: Overall, the guide was good. We were taken to the Chena Lake area but weren't briefed about it; we only found out from someone else later. Though advertised as a 90 minute tour, it was hardly 45 minutes on the snow. The Accident: While trying to steer clear of the snowmobile in front, we edged into a snow wall and toppled. We were okay with only minor injuries, but the brake lever sustained minor damage. I was able to ride the machine back safely without issues. Upon returning, the guide said it would be roughly a $50 part and that management would contact us the next day. I agreed to pay reasonable repair charges. The "Shakedown": The next day, a manager named Susan called and demanded a whopping $2,200 for the repair, attempting to charge for 7 days of downtime. She pressured me for credit card details, refusing to budge even when I explained I had a meeting and would call back. Then, a man named Josh took over the phone and threatened to call the police if I didn’t call back within 30 minutes. Seriously? Over a minor civil dispute? Susan called again exactly at the 29 minute mark, demanding payment. I asked for a breakdown of the $2,200; she claimed they had already ordered the part and that it takes 7 days to arrive in Alaska. However, she couldn't provide exact part details, only a generic description, and had no answers when I asked to see the invoice for the ordered part. Common sense dictates that an order confirmation would include these details. When I asked for the SKU, she literally shouted at me. I told her there was no need to shout. I just wanted to verify details so I could settle the issue fairly. The Evidence: They went silent for over 24 hours, which increased my suspicion. I inquired locally and found the part was readily available, it's a common wear-and-tear item, and was told it’s a 15 minute fix. I bought the part myself, but they ignored my texts for details. Had they responded, I would have delivered it that same day. The next day, Josh agreed to accept the part. I dropped it off at 2:00 PM, but they claimed they could only replace it the following day, which suggested they were deliberately trying to accrue downtime charges. Notably, when I dropped off the part, the sled wasn't even in the shop; it was likely already fixed and back on a tour. Fraudulent Invoice: The final invoice was the smoking gun. They tried to charge me $148.50 for a part they admitted they were returning for a refund. They were effectively trying to get a free part from me while double-charging my account. When caught, they didn't apologize; they nonchalantly said they would "waive" the fee they weren't legally entitled to in the first place. Conclusion: After repeated back and forth, they finally sent a corrected invoice which I paid in full. This company is untrustworthy and will go to any length to extract money through unfair means. They lack professionalism. There are many honest tour providers in the area; this is not one of them.
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear you were safe following the incident, as guest safety is always our top priority. To clarify, all guests sign a waiver acknowledging responsibility for damage beyond normal wear and tear, including parts, labor, and operational downtime. The damage to the snowmobile required repair and temporary removal from service, which is standard in our industry. Due to our location in Alaska, parts are not always immediately available and shipping timelines can impact equipment availability. For this reason, downtime is factored into repair costs as outlined in our policies. As a courtesy, management worked with you directly to reach a mutually agreed resolution, including accommodating your request to source the part independently—something we do not typically allow. We stand by our team and our process, and we remain committed to operating with transparency and fairness for all guests. This review is being handled by ours and Viators team.
there are other groups that travel you don’t necessarily need snow pants thermals and sweatpants worked fine
This was our first time snowmobiling and i did it with my Finance. We did doubles and it was so much fun. We definitely recommend this for anyone who wants to do something fun. Your guide was super friendly and helpful as well. 10/10 experience!
Great communication and a very professional guide. If you’re going in winter, make sure to dress much warmer than you think you need — I honestly didn’t expect it to be that cold. Despite my mistake with clothing (by the way, they can provide warm pants if needed), the experience was exciting and truly impressive.
Our tour guide was great! We had the best time even if it was it-30 degrees brrr! We went around the lake and back again , saw a few moose
Greg was a great guide for our excursion. He made sure we were out on the trail 10 minutes after arrival and ensured everybody had a safe and wonderful experience. Could not recommend him enough.
This was super fun! I brought my 17 year old daughter, everyone on staff were friendly / informative and patient and our host was super funny. We really enjoyed our time. Highly recommend
We had a wonderful time snowmobiling. As first-time riders, my sister and I really appreciated how thorough our guide was—walking us through their safety checks and teaching us how to operate the machines before we started. Once we set out, the ride was fun and beautiful. We rode together and took turns driving so each of us could fully take in the vast and stunning scenery. Thanks to our guide, we were even lucky enough to spot a moose, and they kindly took photos of us throughout the trail. Overall, it was an incredible experience—safe, scenic, and fun.
