De tour omvat een bezoek aan het archeologische park van de Tempelvallei van Agrigento.Gekenmerkt door een uitstekende staat van instandhouding, en door belangrijke dorische tempels uit de Helleense periode. Het werd in 1997 door de UNESCO opgenomen in de lijst van het erfgoed van de mensheid.
Agrigento is ongetwijfeld een van de mooiste steden ter wereld, de meest bezochte ooit, een symbool van de oudheid met zijn suggestieve Vallei van de Tempels. Maar Agrigento is niet alleen cultuur en geschiedenis. Het is niet alleen mooi vanwege het uitzonderlijke archeologische erfgoed, maar ook vanwege de natuurlijke omgeving die het kenmerkt. Het prachtige strand van San Leone bestaat uit zacht goudkleurig zand, gekenmerkt door kilometerslange zandstranden omringd door een prachtige zee, met een intens blauwe kleur en helder water. De promenade (Falcone en Borsellino) is verfraaid met hoge palmbomen die er omheen staan. In de omgeving zijn er allerlei diensten, winkels en restaurants met typisch Siciliaanse specialiteiten. Trakteer uzelf na het verkennen van de archeologische vindplaatsen van het Valle dei Templi-park op een lunch in een klein restaurant met uitzicht op de Falcone Borsellino-promenade in San Leone. Hier zijn de gerechten gebaseerd op ingrediënten van land en zee samen, een unieke mix met een mediterraan tintje.
Een prachtig oogverblindend wit juweel dat het heldere blauw van de zee omlijst is de Scala dei Turchi. Een van de favoriete bestemmingen van de zuidelijke zomers, dankzij de conformatie met zachte, afgeronde en onregelmatige lijnen en de kleur van de "koude" witte klif. Het is samengesteld uit kleiachtig en kalksteen sedimentair gesteente, dat de klif zijn karakteristieke witte kleur en lage temperatuur geeft. De klif is te bereiken via een pad van enorme trappen, waarop toeristen meestal "kamperen" om te zonnebaden of het prachtige panorama te bewonderen met uitzicht op de even fascinerende kust van Agrigento.

Giuseppe was a great driver. He took time to explain the sights to us and shared a lot about Sicilian culture. Anna, our tour guide at the temples, was incredibly knowledgeable and allowed us the time we needed to take a lot of pictures. She also happily took our picture in great spots with the temples in the background.

This full day experience featured a drive south to Agrigento to see the temples of the gods. Our driver, Mimmo, shared information along the way. Long drive from Palermo but totally worth it. The valley of temples is stunning. Having a guide was worth the extra cost but the layout and signage would make it possible to do without.

You do want to see the valley of temples. You will feel transported in time and probably will feel you are in Greece. Fabrizio our driver and Danielle our guide were amazing. The valley of the temples is not to be missed – the ruins are beautiful, the history is fascinating – our guide Anna did a wonderful job.— the park itself is beautiful and green and open, and you feel like you are out in nature. Scala dei Turchi was less impressive – perhaps in part because we chose not to climb down the stairs and saw it from above. One of the best parts of our day was getting to know our wonderful driver Luca (ask for him if you can!)
