Het Nationaal Park Tafelberg wordt erkend als een van 's werelds meest opmerkelijke attracties. Wandelaars en klimmers dompelen zich onder in een mix van ruige bergen, dramatische kliffen en kloven, unieke en beroemde vegetatie die wordt gedomineerd door het fynbos zoals proteas en erica's. Kleine dieren zoals Klipsringer, Onyx, Rock hyrax (dassie), Agama, met een breed scala aan vogels kunnen worden gespot. Wandelaars genieten van een betoverend uitzicht op de glorieuze Atlantische kust met prachtige baaien en stranden, duinen en lagunes, en het beruchte Robbeneiland. Ga met ons mee en ontdek meer over de Tafelberg waarvan het bestaan onlosmakelijk verbonden is met de geschiedenis van Kaapstad en zijn bevolking, beginnend bij de inheemse bevolking van de Kaap – de Khoi-pastoralisten en de San-jager-verzamelaars – tot de moderne tijd.

Geniet van een schilderachtige rit naar het wandelpad “PlatteKlip”. Reizigers worden begroet door uitzonderlijke natuurlijke schoonheid van het fynbos bioom rond de stad, de Atlantische kust, van baaien tot valleien. De uitzichten worden opvallender en indrukwekkender als je bergop rijdt. Het Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) is een indrukwekkende congregatie van natuurlijke pracht die een groot gebied van UNESCO werelderfgoed omvat en staat bekend om zijn historische, landschappelijke en recreatieve betekenis. Dit park heeft veel meer in petto voor natuurliefhebbers en sensatiezoekers. IT is zeer rijk aan bloemenbiodiversiteit met inheemse beestjes en kleurrijke fynbos en maakt deel uit van het Cape Floral Kingdom.
De beste manier om het natuurschoon te verkennen en de unieke geologie van de Tafelberg te ontdekken is door IT te bewandelen. Wandelaars en klimmers krijgen de kans om in contact te komen met de kenmerkende natuurlijke aspecten van dit wereldwonder van de natuur; passeren door rotsachtige waterlopen, onderdompelen in een wirwar van rotsblokken, kliffen, rotsformaties, fynbos, met een spectaculair uitzicht op de stad, de zee, de V & A haven, Camps Bay en Clifton witte zandstranden, Robbeneiland en de hele bergketen. Er zijn verschillende Tafelbergwandelpaden, die verschillende landschappen en terreinen bieden. De meest aanbevolen is "Platteklip Gorge". Doe mee en leer meer over de geschiedenis van deze interessante berg en de nauwe band met de oprichting van de stad Kaapstad en het leven van de inwoners.
Verken de tafeltopachtige top van de Tafelberg. Geniet van een maaltijd of versnaperingen in Café-restaurant "Ten 67". Geniet van de rust en schoonheid van de bergtop omgeving. Leg het prachtige landschap vast en ontdek wilde dieren zoals Dassie - Rock hyrax -, Klipspringer, Agama en een breed scala aan vogels. Blader door de curiositeit “Shop at the Top” voor cadeaus en souvenirs. Geniet van het adembenemende 360 graden uitzicht op Kaapstad, de Atlantische Oceaan en het omliggende landschap.
Een afdaling via “Platteklip Gorge” biedt een spectaculair uitzicht op Kaapstad, de “Devil’s Peak”, Robbeneiland en de omliggende oceaan, en de imposante kliffen in de kloof zorgen voor een dramatische en grootse sfeer, vooral in de bovenloop. De watervallende beek in de winter, kleurrijke proteas in het voorjaar en de historische betekenis van de route dragen bij aan de aantrekkingskracht.

Ascending the 1067m/3500 ft reputed Table Mountain via "India Venster" hiking trail was my best highlight on my trip to Cape Town. My second was tandem Paragliding from Signal Hill, my 3rd was Quad Biking with Atlantis Dunes, and my 4th was Ziplining in Constantia. I am very fond of adventure and hiking the Table Mountain was on my backlist. The hike is a bit challenging with a few rock climbing but very exhilarating with stunning views of the beautiful Cape Town, the ocean, the beaches and surrounding mountains. The hike was about 1.9 mi/3km and the round trip took us 05h15' including the tame we spent at the summit. The mountain and surrounding areas are part of a national park with admirable nature conservation undertaking, a unique endemic flora, a phenomenal heritage site worth visiting. Water is a must, consider bringing sunscreen, snacks and a jacket; wearing hiking sneakers is ideal! Rocks can be slippery.

The hike to the top of Table Mountain is absolutely recommended to adventure seekers and natural beauty enthusiasts visiting Cape Town. We were a family of 7 people, and we had been waiting for an opportunity to do this hike for a couple of years. Our guide Jean is very knowledgeable, fit, with a great sense of fun. We did the "India Venster" hiking trail up, and came down via "Platteklip Gorge". The hike up involves some scrambling and rock climbing with chains and staples. Challenging but breathtaking views with a sense of adventure and accomplishment. We thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are afraid of heights or are not used to rock climbing, go for Platteklip Gorge; steep but gorgeous. Remember enough water, a jacket, sunscreen and comfortable hiking shoes. Incredible Hike with an incredible guide. The views of the city of Cape Town and her surroundings are second to none. Our guide Jean is full of fun and our hike was wonderful. Though our guide mentioned that the flower peak bloom occurs in spring August to September, a wide array of fynbos and wildflowers could be seen still. Lots of watsonia and a few proteas with impressive rock formations. Highly recommended for hikers and rock climbers.

I was advised by a friend of mine to reserve a day of my holiday in Cape Town just for hiking Table Mountain. So, I booked this day with Kura Safaris and Jean was my guide. We hiked from 07:30 am till 04:30 pm. We started from Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens -Skeleton Gorge- to the "Diving Board" via Maclear's Beacon -highest point-. What a beautiful forest with great conservation efforts! From here we hiked to the Upper Station of the Table Mountain Aerial Cable and we enjoyed our lunch from the Table Mountain Cafe with stunning views of the enchanting city of Cape Town, the ocean and white sandy beaches. We descended overlooking the harbor, a soccer stadium, Robben Island and the port, via Platteklip Gorge, an amazing trail with steep boulders. We culminated our adventure day by exploring the Woodstock Caves situated halfway the Devils Peak. These Caves, according to my guide Jean, bear traces of early human -Khoisan- habitation, making it an important archaeological site. In addition, the mountain serves as a rich biodiversity hotspot bolstering cultural and historical importance for local communities. I will come back and I highly recommend.

The hike was absolutely amazing! We did the Platteklip trail and the views from the top of the trail are breathtaking! It took us 4h50 min (round). The hike is challenging, steep, but worth it! I suggest you start the hike much earlier to avoid the heat! Take at least 1.5 L of water! Our guide was knowledgeable, storyteller with extensive knowledge in SA history! I recommend Kura Safaris for your hiking adventure in Cape Town.
