8-daagse Ecuador Trekking de Avenue of Volcanoes uit Quito

My partner and I had an amazing time on this trip. We highly recommend it for anyone who loves trekking. Verdant mountains, glacier-capped peaks, spectacular river valleys — we saw it all. Our guide, Rafael Arevalo, made it far more than just a few hikes. His knowledge of everything from native plants and animals to Ecuadorian history and culture took the trip to another level. We really enjoyed his willingness to discuss a wide variety of subjects. He was also patient, thoughtful, fun and organized. We highly recommend him.

My girlfriend and I had an amazing time on this tour. We adjusted the schedule a bit and did a 1/2 day Quito tour before we started the hiking trip. All of our accommodations were great in their own way- from the historic and luxurious hacienda to the small hotels in the rural areas. Every detail was attended to, and our guide Jorge was energetic, informative, punctual, and most importantly, fun! Such a beautiful country and such friendly people. We spent an additional week on our own on the coast- also an incredible experience. Highly recommend this tour if are looking for some solid hiking along with comfortable lodging and good food.

We loved this trip! The hikes were all very different and rewarding. The accommodation was lovely and the food was fantastic. Our guide Alfonso was wonderful. Not only was he cheerful and a lot fun, but we were so grateful for all the knowledge he shared about culture and nature. Alfonso was always checking in with us on how we were doing and making sure we had what we needed. Communication was clear at all points from booking to completion.

Great and forever memorable experience! Everything was more than expected-our Rafael Arevalo was great - he managed the logistics of our trek, briefed daily on what we do each day, key times, and provided history and context to the areas we we were trekking. Our driver Jose is world class and got us to our pick up/drop off points safely and efficiently. The food and the lodgings were more than was expected and was first rate. Overall this was a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking to be wowed with beautiful scenery and a first class trekking experience.

Everything from booking through the trip was fantastic! For starters, AJ was accommodating in that they allowed the trip to proceed with only one person - it makes it difficult for those solos at times when we don’t at least have a second person - I am super grateful. Next, my guide, Rafael, was second to none. I asked a ton of questions about everything and he was able and willing to answer anything. He also added what I thought were special touches tailored to what I like during the trip - another benefit of solo travel! Finally, the trip itself was amazing- perfect itinerary with lots of activity and variety in the scenery and lodgings. I would highly recommend!!

This trip was absolutely amazing! Went as a group of three friends; we were able to stay in triple rooms at each of the accommodations. Accommodations were stunning, the food was amazing throughout the trip. The people are incredibly gracious and friendly. The hiking is unmatched, with incredibly gorgeous views and a deeply immersive experience. Javier was the absolute best tour guide! So kind, knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. We did not worry about a single thing the entire trip, it was all perfectly planned and executed. Looking forward to doing more of these tours with Adventure Journeys. Highly recommend!

This was one of the best trekking tours I have done and it was made all the more special by our guide, Javier. From the moment we arrived in Ecuador, the trip was executed smoothly. I booked the tour with 2 friends and it ended up just being the 3 of us so we essentially had a private tour. The variety of terrain we experienced was spectacular. The routes were challenging but so rewarding. Javier did a great job pacing us and encouraging us when we needed an extra push. The lodging exceeded all expectations. The thoughtfully selected stays provided beautiful space, delicious food, and very friendly hosts. A strenuous tour but very worth it. Couldn’t recommend it more.

The trip was amazing! We hiked up steep volcanoes, trekked though beautiful valleys, experienced beautiful indigenous children and families, and saw how hard they worked to cultivate crops up steep mountainsides. The food was delicious and the lodgings far nicer than my expectations. Jorge and Lobito went out of their way to make sure we had a positive experience. I loved their passion for what they were doing and their love for their country. I would recommend this trip to anyone.

AJ did a masterful job with communications, logistics and guiding our party through the Andies. 'Lobito', our driver always arrived on time with a warm and welcoming smile. 'Jorge', our guide, graciously and enthusiastically shared his love for all of the wonderful opportunities Ecuador offers. In addition to the trekking experiences we expected Jorge arranged a paragliding flight from a high ridge and a white water raft in the Amazon River valley. What a contrast to go from the moonscape and snow of Chimborazo Basecamp to the lush forests of the Amazon basin in a day. Lodging was better than expected. Rooms were spacious and clean and the hosts were warm and welcoming and prepared amazing local and traditional foods

I have done trekking/adventure trips in South America, Nepal, Africa and Europe with different tour companies and each provided a great experience. But this trip is at the top of the list for the overall experience. Before the trip, the communication with the office was responsive and clear and once the trip started literally everything exceed my expectations. Accommodations were unbelievable in such remote locations, food was always delicious, with great opportunities to try local dishes and the transportation was comfortable. My expectations were far exceeded in each of these areas. But for me the trip is about the hikes, being outside, exploring the culture, interacting with local people and having fun in the process. Mission accomplished! Each of the planned hikes on the itinerary seemed to have a specific purpose whether it be to show different terrain, provide a challenging hike or see spectacular scenery. Everything seemed intentional for a reason. Every day was amazing! However, that was only the beginning as we were provided the option of enhancing our overall experience in many ways whether it be thru paragliding, river rafting, zip lining or other adventures. Of course these things cost extra but the expense was minimal and the memories are priceless! Regardless of the itinerary the enjoyment of the trip is very dependent on the guide. Jorge was beyond terrific, amazing, awesome or any other adjective! He made the trip. And I must mention Lobito, our driver for the entire trip. He not only navigated the crazy traffic and narrow streets with ease but he did it with humour and a constant smile!
